441 LED oscilloscope on music

  • This is a video of my self-made LED-oscilloscope. The scope is connected to the output of my speaker-system. The reason I've chosen this Russian song is of the strong vocal part and the variations in the amplitude. (The song is "Mamo" by Anastasia Prikhodko). The oscilloscope triggers and if you look very good, you can see a sine-wave in a fraction of a second while the vocal part of the song. It's a nice real-time visualisation.

    The reason that the brightness is so low is because the dutycycle of the LED's is very low. There is only one LED active at the time and if the the sweep is fast enough, you wil see a curve. It's the same principle of a analogue scope. If one whole curve takes for instance 50 LED's than is the duty-cycle 1 over 50 and that is equal to 2%. Maybe the green LED's will be much more brighter with that low dutycycle...

    Very nice! but would it have been a little bit clearer with green high brightness led? but well made i must have one of these

    thanks, how do the LED's get they're signal...i van understand a screen...but 441 led's that make a screen...dont understand, how do they get the signal?
