interesting points ,if anyone else wants to uncover parrot training cd try Parrot Ploy Plan (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my mate got excellent results with it.
I also have an African Grey. When I got him. First thing I taught him was his name. Tokkelos. He talk such a lot. He really have a conversation with you. He is an Afrikaans parrot. So he says. Hompie kedompie sit op die wat. Hompie kedompie af geval. Skapie mê sing hy. En houtkabouter. Jy's a stouter. . Hy dans soos mamma. Ask me what am I doing? . Ask for food or apple when he want some. He knows the different between food and nums. And cookies. Also somtime I give him a spagetti to bite. He call it stokkies. That was his own name that he gave to spagetti. He is sooo very clever. He says goodmorning. Says goodnight and. Waars daai bekkie? Kom soentjie bekkie..... love lots. Too much to type it all om cellphone. Unreal clever. And he wave goodbye with his wings or his hand. This is true what I am telling you. I enjoy him soo much. And talk very clear.

I’ve just got a rescue african grey abt 2 months ago and i would like to teach him how to get onto my arm. he is pretty tame like i can give him kisses and tickle his neck etc but he moves away if i had to put my arm out.
It may take time for your feathery friend to get used to his new environment.

My ara nobilis can say "Vera" (her own name), "potvora" (which means beast in my language, but it's not that harsh), "frrr" (when we're fine with flying at the time around the house we say frr, so that she can take a flight), "chrrr" (it's basically an interjection for snoring and she says it, when she's going to sleep🥹), "pojď [potch]" (it means come and she says it whenever we take her out of the cage) and then just some random sounds.❤

Hi there. We're so excited to hear that you may be getting a new parrot! Any thoughts on names? You should aim to do a session 1-2 times a day if your parrot is up for it. The sessions could be as short as 30 seconds but shouldn't go longer than 10 minutes.

I have 2 African Greys who borh have large repertoire of words. A few if the funny things thety say is - My female will say "Your a nut case" when she sees my husband as I used to say it everytime he came in that area. She talks complete sentences and says "Whatcha doing" then when you tell her she will respond back with something. My male says "Want a cold beer? " then makes the nouse of a beer can psssst (being opened) He whistles a variety of tunes and asks for different food items like "Want some popcorn " or "Want some grapes" ect.. I could go on and on about this amazing pair! I love them both dearly. I recently started thinking of breeding them. Any suggestions on how to start?

It may vary case-by-case, but at age 1.6 you're feathered baby can surely learn new words.

I have two Indian ringnecks approximately 1 year old and I am having troubles teaching them because they just fly away trying to find their cage or if I take one away the other one just squawks and all they are worried about is finding the cage and they won't take any treats. Some parrots will start as early as three months old while others may start at 12 months. The sooner you start to speak to your feathered friend, the better! A recording would help.

My parrot used to say a lott of words, then he just stoped talking all of a sudden. I don't know why, he barely says something now and mostly just whistles and scream now.
He's still a happy parrot though.

I received a 4 year old Parralette who isn't very tame. I can pick him up or touch him. I will land on me at times. He has also fallen asleep sitting on my chest. Today he landed on my wrist. First time on my skin. He stayed for a few minutes. When he is getting tired he gets close to me or on me and falls asleep there. I spend 2 to 6 hours just spending time with him. He will eat from my hand both inside and outside his cage. He doesn't follow commands or want me be the one who touches. Do you have any tips, tricks or general advice for me. I have never had a bird of any kind.

When it comes to birds, Emily, building rapport is important just like any other animal. It'll take some time for him to adjust to you, and perhaps to touch in general. Just listen to what he and his body language tell you, and spend time with him to get him used to being around you. Some pets are the kind that will come to you rather than wanting you to come to them, and some can learn to appreciate affection when they don't initiate.

Hey there, you can try to hang it outside of the cage or hang the toy in the lowest part of the cage, out of the way, so he can investigate at his own pace.

I must say that this video is by far the BEST video I've seen. for the reason that instead of telling us all your history through your entire childhood, like many other videos of many other people, that takes 15-20 minutes of our lives (which we will never get back), you go straight to the point, explain it easily and helps us relate and understand. I am DEFINATELY subscribing to your page and will follow. I knew I had to look for the lesson in English and not in local Hebrew. Thanks for it. Plus: I just tried it as you said and it worked, plus after so many times I couldn't make my parrot relate to me, we just had an amazing "together time" due to your video and it was just everything I missed with Koko, My parrot. thank you SO MUCH!
