Glad to see you are not using a hateful BMS! Seen so many packs ruined from BMS killing banks of cells. Exactly the same as I have done except I have made 2 6p5s packs that I charge using my rc chargers then use a Y lead to link them together for a 6p10s. I will never use a BMS again. As a note, set your charger to use a cell voltage of 4.05 or 4.1v instead of the 4.2v, the pack will last literally twice as long (lifetine) due to charging to about 85/90% of capacity instead of 100% all the time and stressing the cells.

Those BMS have caused a lot of problems.

    • @Ra-zor
      @Ra-zor Před 18 dny

@@Mr.EeToMyself Indeed. All I use is an independent voltage monitor/capacity meter when actually using the pack, and this gives me a very good indication of the current state of charge. If anything has gone wrong with a cell, the charger bms will tell you at the point of next charge, which has never happened yet in the last 5 years and now over 550 charge cycles!!! - and the pack is still going strong with 93% capacity!. Just goes to show charging to 90% and discharging to no lower than 20% really does extend pack life enormously...

I'd always use the same cells myself but realise this isn't always an option for some. Good job though man you got it working🙂
Get some heat wrap around those batteries, try to seal them up to stop water getting in or you'll end up with heavily corroded batteries again bro. A little extra expensive which will save you a lot of money not having to find new cells and rebuild.
I'll be making a 60Ah battery after xmas out of LiFiPo4 cells, 15cells 3.2v each @60Ah =48volts @60ah. The cells are expensive but the capacity is huge and the chemicals used in the cells is the safest on the market. They're said to last thousands of charge cycles, very reliable cells.
Hospital use these cells in their medical equipment as a power back up, electric never goes off in hospitals so the batteries don't get used but they are replaced every 5 years regardless. Find our when the batteries are being replaced and you could potentially buy the ones they are getting rid of for very cheap my brother 🙂✌

I personally use R/C I max charger ( i have multiple use for it)..for some reason the fake Imax allows me to charge cells under 2.2 (which is fine..I need it to
recharge cells that might drop under 2.2 when salavging batteries.
My R/C only allows me to recharge at 6s..it's 25.2 V fully charged.
      I can put 2-ea 6s to 12 50V...it's in the 48-50V range.
I prefer to manage my batteries that way...any ways...so i can repair
packs and trouble shoot easier...use it in different things...such as Powerwheels at 6S
It depends on how many parallel you use and what C ratings
Laptops are only 10-15C..I'll do 4 -ea to 8800mah per 1s
      basically 24-ea 18650 per 6s at 8800mah at 15C..
It might be from your ESC with auto thermal shut off...trying to save itself..
it's like that on my r/c ESC...
or it could be from your Batteries Thermasta...that black tear drop
      looking thing...
      The 1000W Brushless...is SUCKING/PULLING alot of electrons.
It'll generate lots of heat in the batteries....
It can also be from your motor getting TOO HOT trying to save itself too.lol
or Solder joints coming loose in packs you made.or one of the 18650....diaphram
is getting ready to dis engaue...if it gets too hot..
or solder joints from connectors ect ...48V is alot of electricity.
it'll heat up solder joints..Sometime the heat shrink is the only
thing holding the joint in place..then sort of resolder itself.lol
Trouble shoot and Isolate.....check the connectors solder joints
That's why I prefer to limit it to only 6s build...so I can trouble shoot
      for a 18650 going bad...
I had trouble with connector solder joints from
      time to time.
I use thicker wires..but really need to change my 48V connections
to something more beefy..Rather than just re inforcing it with HOT GLUE to
help the heat shrink..lol ( clamp and solder the joints....)
Becuase the Connectors are sort of bottle necking everything...if they're
not rated at 48V or better...Solder not being able to handle the heat...
      Yeap....different solder grades...too.
      Most electronics are 5v-12v Max.lol

the real trouble is that if some cells goes bad then your voltage will drop and you will empty some cells too much compzre to the others which can be very dangerous.

13P7S is only 26V. To make a 48V pack, you need a 12S to 15S battery pack. I think you're confused with the P and the S. It doesn't matter how many P you get in your pack. P is just for increasing range. S is specific to voltage of a battery pack. By the way, my battery is not composed of a 13P6S and 13P7S. It is composed of a 7P6S and 7P7S to make a 7P13S pack. 2. If more AH required for long ride/more km I would like to add more cells to reach till 30AH or 40AH is it possible, Can we use such AH for 750w motor?
    3. Note recollection from scrap/laptop battery so cells many not good at AH so just for getting more AH I would to add can I use on that way?
    4. What is minimum AH(2 or 2.5ah)for each cell to use e-bike.
I don't think 6 cell laptop battery each cell have 3ah for reuse.
    Please reply

You're mixing up Ah with A. They are not the same at all. 750W/48V = 16A (not 16Ah). That's the maximum the motor requires at 750W. When going up hill, a 750W motor can use more than 750W (maybe 1000W to 1500W in short burst). So yes, you can supply more than 16A. The more you can supply the better. 2. You can supply as many Ah as you can by adding more cells in parallel. But you only have limited space in your bike. 3 and 4. Each laptop cell can only give you 2A to 3A discharge. (not Ah) You will need at least 16A to run the 750W, 48V motor so you will need at least 6 cells in parallel.

Can i use battery with different ah?

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  Před 5 lety

You should use batteries with the same ratings (Ah and discharge rate). But I'd say you can get away with about 10% difference.

The downside is if you have one weak cell group (lower capacity), it will drop in voltage faster than the others, so say discharging to 40V should mean 3.07V per cell, any weak cells would go below that. At least you tested all the cells first, so it's not going to be too serious.

Your cells need to be able to breath! If you fill in all the gaps with hot glue the cells can OVER HEAT!
I would NOT recommend doing this! As these cell can literally combust and Explode if gotten to hot! That’s why when companies build Ebike battery packs they use spacers to let the battery’s Air cool down naturally! This way with all that glue there’s no holes it’s just a solid brick of batteries! Just a small pea size of glue is enough! This amount in the video is SO over the top! as the tin strips used to weld the cells together will hold the battery pack together.

i couldn't help but notice it sure looked like the original battery for the bike in your demonstration of he video was still on your ebike and i couldn't see any of the wiring from the laptop battery actually plugged in I'm not saying you didn't do what you claimed i do actually really like your videos but maybe next time show how its actually attached to your controller?

I noticed you have several cables that are not terminated. These should be terminated, if for no other reason, than to keep out water and debris. I agree with @Andy B, add a mudguard. :)

Should have got a kweld spot welder.

    • @fun_ghoul
      @fun_ghoul Před 5 lety

A welder that requires li-po or lead-acid batteries defeats the entire purpose (or rather, re-purpose) of this video. It also requires assembly, and costs more not only compared to the Sunkko unit he has, but even than competitive battery-powered products like the Arduino Spot Welder. So, no.

Why does every 1 on you tube who makes a video always leave the most inportant bit out of video its like you all have something to hide and maybe lie about there is no 1 on this site that shows a video step by step all the way through with out missing stuff out some of us who watch these videos i looking how to make 1 or just looking for a certain bit of info we are not all as clever as your selfs. All i am looking for is how you wire it all together because me and electrics is not good so thanks for skipping that part just like every 1 else on here thanks.
