As a teenager living alone, it was Jamie Oliver's recipes/videos that got me started cooking for myself. I remember making his Spaghetti and Meatballs as the first thing I cooked. Now im in my 30's and cooking for my wife and 3 year old. If ever I can thank Mr Oliver for his quest to get people cooking, I just want him to know that he literally changed my life.

Same here. This book changed my life. I went from being unable to cook or even though meat to being able to really cook, all thanks to this book and Jamie Oliver

I love Jamie Oliver's passion for spreading diet, nutrition, and cooking skills to others. I think it's so important to help others eat better at home for both nutrition, cost savings, and for self reliance when things get adverse.

At our school in seventh grade we had cooking classes. They taught us very simple dishes (rice, pancakes, spaguetti and tomato sauce, semola pudding) And the graded not just the result, but leaving everything crean and tidy. It was a good experience and really helpful

@@majoroldladyakamom6948 if you are going to criticise someone for not using the right English spelling, then perhaps you might want to double check your own first, as you are forgetting the 'h' in 'spaghetti'. They call that Muphry's law (and no, I did not misspell 'Murphy').
(FYI: 'spaguetti' is an alternative spelling of 'espagueti' in Spanish, and perhaps also in other languages.)
Maria: that indeed are handy skills and habits to learn early on at school. I only had one or two of such classes unfortunately during my youth in the Netherlands, but I was fortunate enough to learn some basics from my mother and grandmother. :) I'm glad to see that my kid will be learning these skills in school as well here in Norway; as well as from myself, of course.

I admire Jamie Oliver a lot. He is very skilled as a chef and is brilliant at inspiring and teaching others. Better still he is authentic and down to earth. I have to say that I was shocked at how this episode revealed how families don't do home cooking. Takeaway food is expensive. I could not afford takeaways every day so am astonished that anyone can get takeaways on a regular basis. I always cook meals from scratch using fresh meat, fish and vegetables; even though I live alone I make the effort. And I eat very well. I am watching Jamie's videos to get inspiration to explore different techniques and challenge myself. Thank you Jamie for all the joy and happiness you bring people. You are a gem.

@@bcaye - somehow, people don't understand how easy it can be to cook. I understand, when people work long hours, maybe two jobs - they probably feel overwhelmed at the idea of learning how to cook. But it's mostly a Lack of knowledge. I think people have the idea that it's more complicated than it is. And honestly, sometimes the less you do to your food the more you can save at the doctors office and the dentist office. Obviously, that doesn't go for beans, lol. They need a nice long cooking time. But a plug-in appliance that you could ignore all day, and a few yummy things added to it like you say, no one has to starve or eat takeout if they take a few minutes to assemble a feast, something they can eat for days.

I'm surprised in know how people, in England, named a "first world" country can't cook!!! Worse, many people don't want cooking! In Brazil, great most of people know how to cook and they want it! It's a necessity like washing clothes, or having a bath! Industrialized food are to facilitate, for an example: you cook a strononoff and buy the tiny fried potatoes (batata palha, in portuguese). And deliveries are for emergencies, like someone who is ill and, in that day can't cooking. Even deliveries, here, are most of time, healthy because have rice and beens, meat, egg vegetables, a salad, always (we call them "marmita"). I don't know people, here in Brazil, that eat industrialized or delivery food everyday! Jamie has a restaurant here, he knows my country. I wish I could help Jamie in his project, I love how he worry about it, different from chefs all over the world! Go on, Jamie! It seems a solitaire job, but who watch these videos are with you!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Who are you demanding it from? Why should they give it to you? Why don't you just do it and put it on a video platform? The establishment is run on advertising dollars that come from companies that want to sell you stuff and make you poor. Or kill you slowly, in the case of certain drug manufacturing companies. The people with the advertising dollars drive the content. Instead of warning, get your buddies together and start your own platform, something that cannot be censored. Folks don't get or stay rich by whining to others to be given stuff. They make it happen.
