In my culture is the same way, parents choose for their girls or if a man comes to asked to marry a girl, he comes with his whole family to do so. If parents gives the okay, the girl can't say no. Then they prepare for the marriage, but two weeks prior to wedding, the girl and boy goes to each other's house and spend a week getting to know each others families. The week before the wedding day, both families, gather outside a house to wait and see if the girl is a virgin or not. To do that, the boy takes the girl in the room and does his thing, if there's blood on the mat, then he rolls it up and throws it to his family to reveal if she is or isn't. The crazy thing is, if she's not a virgin, that'll bring shame for the the girls family and they will disown her. No other man is gonna want her cause she's not a virgins. I will never, never force my girl to marry someone she doesn't want. Just saying. Lol. I can get in trouble if my family see my comment but this is 2021 and hate my culture!

This is sooo sad , this forced practice showed be stopped, shame on her parents, she was begging her dad to stay but he did her a disservice as a father. Hope she survives this n gets what she desires in life . I cried watching this crap in this day n age. I pray that God give her strength.

In my culture is the same way, parents choose for their girls or if a man comes to asked to marry a girl, he comes with his whole family to do so. If parents gives the okay, the girl can't say no. Then they prepare for the marriage, but two weeks prior to wedding, the girl and boy goes to each other's house and spend a week getting to know each others families. The week before the wedding day, both families, gather outside a house to wait and see if the girl is a virgin or not. To do that, the boy takes the girl in the room and does his thing, if there's blood on the mat, then he rolls it up and throws it to his family to reveal if she is or isn't. The crazy thing is, if she's not a virgin, that'll bring shame for the the girls family and they will disown her. No other man is gonna want her cause she's not a virgins. I will never, never force my girl to marry someone she doesn't want. Just saying. Lol. I can get in trouble if my family see my comment but this is 2021 and hate my culture!

Genuinely interested, in two minds about it though, on one hand we have to respect what other cultures do, but on the other hand, no person should be forced to do something against their will, especially something as important as marriage. The customs which your culture adhere to are something iv never heard of before, that's why I asked where you were from...? That's all 🙂

Like are there punishments if the couple do not follow the rules when getting married, like the whole virginity test? Is everyone real strict with that?
@@spenny4571 Back in day, a father could take the life of his daughter and will need to present another younger or older daughter to the male and he could then do what he wants..meaning take her virginity away and leave her be or marry her. These days, it's not so strict but we still do need to follow our custom.

Realmente é, infelizmente, um casamento muito triste para ela. A julgar pelas suas lágrimas, mais uma condenação que um casamento. Já assisti a casamentos indianos (não sei se este também o é) com um ambiente muito alegre e feliz, pelo que não atribuo esta infelicidade só à cultura. Não sabemos o que está por trás deste enlace. Poderá ser uma dívida da família dela para com a do noivo? E, assim, ela terá sido dada como "moeda" de troca, enfim, como um "bode expiatório"? Ou poderá ser uma forma de exercício de poder do clã do noivo sobre a família dela? Não sabemos.
