I'm confused so like with the 1st one with the fraction -5/3 wouldn't you got left 3 and not right bc it is negative?

You can put the negative with the 5 or the 3. So if it was (-5) / 3, then you would go DOWN 5 and 3 to the RIGHT. If you read it as 5 / (-3) , then you would go UP 5 and 3 to the LEFT.
Does that make sense? Positive direction in y is up and right for x. Negative direction would be down for y and left for x. But for a negative fraction, you only apply it to one of them either x or y, but not both.
