Funny....I wore a pair of bean boots 30 years ago while I was in college. I ended up donating them to the Salvation Army store, at the time they had gone out of style (in my mind). Now...here I am again waiting on my new pair of Bean' boots, haha. Might have to dig my flannel shirts, baggy old tattered cable knit sweaters and my ripped jeans and cotton thermal long-johns out, haha. I knew this day would come when the styles of my youth would sorta come back around again, haha. And at the risk of sounding like a "creepy old man"....no your head is not weird and round, it's totally perfect- there's probably a young man out there around your age who thinks the same:-)

Thank you so much for this video! I've been starting to think about getting a pair of duck boots for next winter. I live in Canada so we have snow from late October to April and I've heard that they're really great for the winter. I too was wary of getting the LL Bean ones because of duties and conversion rates and I've seen the Sperry ones locally, so I was thinking of buying those instead. I'm glad I watched your video before I bought them. I'll definitely be springing for the LL Bean ones now. Thank you!

great review. You must be the only person who discuss the laces...a wonderful addition. I have found the comfort of my 3 lace (short) Bean boots was greatly increased by adding a supplemental insole. I use the green SuperFeet, but there are lots of brands out there. The insoles help take up some of the overall volume, and provide a bit better arch support. My first pair of Bean boots are 14" tall and over 40 years old and going strong with their third set of bottoms. I expect this new pair will likely last as long. At age 65 I, unfortunately, likely wont.

Thank for your review . I had to return my Clark’s duck boots after 2 months because one of the boot’s rubber was starting to split. Then the Sorel duck boots was one more narrow than the other and read reviews after my purchase and several people complained of the soul separating. So I finally purchased LL Bean boot 6”. I hope I don’t have issues with them but I love how they look.

I was just about to buy the sperry boots but I was still in doubt so I read reviews on the official page and several commented about the sole not lasting and your video confirmed my decision. I also only want them as rain boots, but a little more stylish than your regular kids rubber rain boot so... I'll look up to other options. Thank you for saving my money

I really enjoyed your review and love your Irish brogue. I love your country, too, and visited County Cork (backpacking) in the late 60's. Anyway, I have a pair of LLBean duck boots but I dislike the collar as it is not padded. If I can get LLBean to affix padding in my collars they would be first class; and that side zipper on the Sperry's would make them awesome.

I got a pair of sperrys on clearance at $59, I went half a size down because my regular size which is 7.5 was awkwardly big and would fold too much on the outside when walking, the 7 fitted me perfect and didn't have that problem when walking. I'm thinking that might be what causes the boots to crack if you don't down size.

Regarding the Sperry boot, you did nothing wrong. It’s how the boot is built. I saw a review on L.L. Bean vs. Sperry. The gentleman cut both boots in half and revealed the build of each. L.L. Oof... I’m actually getting a pair of sperry boots today... a lot of girls wear them every day at my school and I haven’t heard one complaint yet. All that I know is that from watching this video, if they split, I could either try returning them, or see if super glue would help. As for the soles... I wear mine out pretty fast too, but I do mine pretty crooked. I’ve heard of using hot glue to put lines and dots on the bottom to give it some traction, so if I start slipping I might try that. I’m honestly not extremely worried though cause I sadly have really small feet, and they’re going to stay that way, so I have to wear kids sizes, which is only $70.00 USD plus tax.

L.L. Bean were designed for wool boot socks to fit. Get a decent pair of socks. For Sperry they are for boats and wood decks, not street wear in bad weather. So you bought Sperry for a purpose they weren't designed.

For boat decks Sperry offers boat shoes. As the boots look like the L.L. Bean boots, there is reason to suspect that they were built to rival L.L. Bean and as such they are inferior. There is an in depth analysis of these on YT: czcams.com/video/U3G1Pkbjt-U/video.html
