Is the movement tray kit the same as it always was with 20mm squares on one side and 25mm on the other or have they updated it to be 25mm on one side and 30mm on the other? Sounds like the former from one of the comments but would be good to hear from someone who has one early - cheers!

You want ranks, 18 is a 6 front by 3 deep (combat results).
They have also okayed the use of rank filling dioramas to add in your tray. You can build a shrine on a 60 x 60 base and take 4 spaces of your formation up so 16 models can be a block of 20. They have a wheelbarrow spilling shields off of it taking 2 spaces for men at arms formation. This is going to be so much fun.

I think the big box is good value. What scares me is all the extra characters, Grail Knights etc. When I did some quick arithmetic I was knocking on £570!!! That was based on 9 Grail Knights, New std Bearer, Hand Maiden, another unit of Pegasus Knights, all the books, cards and dice, Grail reliquary. I hadn't even taken into account the new foot Knights, new Enchantress or the trebuchet or undoubtedly need more kits of peasant cannon fodder. That killed my excitement and I'm not getting into this game which I'm very sad about. I loved the Bretonnian story and miniatures. But cannot justify this kind of money sink!!!

I think the price would have been fine if they were all new models. But they're not. At this price it matches the recent Leviathan boxset, with approximately the same amount of models and also the rulebook. The problem is that 100% of the Leviathan boxset was brand new, while this has literally 1 new model.
A company the size of GW doesn't really have any excuse for it either. A few new sprues wouldn't have been that expensive realistically.

As a collector of Grey Knights also, I share your pain (I also collect Eldar..).
And I would understand them bringing back some old models. But the new boxsets should've been entirely new. I think a fair relaunch would've been; New core box, with all models in it completely new (new Pegasus knights, new knights of the realm, new peasant bowmen, new men at arms and new Royal Pegasus Duke).
Then the other box sets; grail knights, trebuchet etc, all being old kits, I would understand. They can then refresh them in a future edition. But yeah, 1 new model in the box is kinda lame. And if I buy this boxset, and then in 2 years they replace all of those models, I'm going to feel like a fool.

they aren't that expensive p/m per $. theyrun cheaper than an equivalent AOS unit which have 10or 20 man units. doubt the basic regular infantry boxes will cost (unless doubled up like AOS does) around regular equivalent currency (for me AUD) for say $100or $50 etc. per model it'drun at less than $1 per infantry. AoS is about $2-$4 per model. sure you may need more, but in the starter faction it runs even cheaper still. and if can get itever from 3rd parties, then 20-50% off. so potentially cheapest specialist game GW ever made.

Is there a difference between an Influencer and an “Influencer”? If so, what is the difference? Regarding Old World specifically, is it that you lack interest in the game/ models/ setting, or you wish that less content revolved around GW’s model release cycle? Regarding free stuff, do you dislike the idea of gifts in general, to the point where you would reject a free copy of the Old World starter boxes out of hand? people saying it is expensive failto realize that (least by old standards for WHFB) these boxes are literal armies in a box. but those who say these are expensive gladly pay CP or equivalent for AOS entry level, and get like 12 or so models for 1/2-2/3 the cost of these. yep. more money, for less plastic fine. more money (at first glance) up front = too expensive. in AUD (Australia) the box is broken down as around a free rulebook, a $120 character (pegasus) a large unit of knights ($35 each or $70 est for all) five units broken down into pilgrim/archers around $250. or $50 per box (around similar at time they were squatted). this leaves the rest of the templates, the mini non army book, the dice, and such to cost around the remainder, so around 30-50$.
compare to AOS and 40k: prices are (akin) to older entry points to WHFB. possibly about up to 25% (to cover inflation etc) more expensive. but old sculpts a turn off for some, and such, it is actually cheaper by model per dollar, than other games GW produces. and this is to overcome the hesitation some may have moving on this game. I care not for the game though. just kitbashes. and this game offers me kits I have since run dry from my bits box.

Also it allows you to use 25mm circle bases and place them on movement trays with a holder in it to use your converted AoS models in old world rank and file. which is kind of neat. IMO its almost not worth using the square bases for anything that converts to AoS so you can still use for either game. I'm kind of excited about this and might get back to work on my vampire counts army (yes I know they wont have official rules) that was converted from elves. as well as I will start a high elf army when they release, as well as eventually get some dark elves again, which was my first army in Fantasy battles.
