- There are a huge number of changes to the audio, video, order of scenes, runtime, dialogue, story etc in the 'US Theatrical Cut' of Sergio Leone's 'Once Upon A Time In America' but there are also some brief alternate angles not seen in either of the two longer cuts. So this is a compilation of just those moments, plus the different opening and closing credits. This is taken from a VHS transfer and unfortunately the audio degrades toward the end. (FYI: the opening Deborah dance footage is exactly the same as the other two cuts but I've still included it in full to show the added on-screen credits.)

I know this sounds like a terrible idea, but somebody should do an anniversary re-release with the newly salvaged short version as a bonus, maybe with remastered audio. It would give people an insight into how studios often end up taking their interference way too far.
Sooo underrated work of masterpiece, I have this movie deep inside my heart.
I saw this US cut in the theatres and still fell in love with the story......I could watch this all day.
that ending though
Thanks for this. I also remember coming in the room at the end of a TV run and the ending had the garbage truck scene but with added gun shots or gun shot.
Some movie should NEVER be re-made!! This one and Mommy Dearest!
man this is incredible!!
Interesting upload, and I appreciate it but my word The Ladd Company (the US distributors f**ked this up big time) That ending is awful.
Great work on this! I was considering comparing the footage myself, but never got around to it. I believe one of the trailers for the film also has a ton of unused footage in it, maybe even the entire thing is, given Leone had a habit of having his trailers cut using only unused footage.
Also fun to notice it's got cue marks. So this is about as legit a source for the theatrical cut as it gets.
Which trailer are you talking about?

The things it has the I know for a fact are unique to it are alternate takes for the car crashing into the water, Max telling his girlfriend to 'get the fuck out' (He kicks her a bit in this take, which doesn't happen in the final film at all), and most interestingly it has an alternate take of the car bombing scene that was lost up until the Extended restoration in the mid-2010s.
The shot of Tuesday Weld on the floor in thigh-high stockings looks interesting. I wonder what other scenes of her they cut.
@KELL II It would be great if the new scenes were of the same quality as the rest of the film. The newly added scenes of the extended cut are great but the quality is so bad hopefully there will be a new 4k version at some point.. Does anyone know where the rights to the film are now?
Hi guys, could someone help me? I intend to subtitle the US Theatrical Cut to my country's language, I intend to use the official cut caption of 3h and 49 minutes, my question is: are there different dialogs in the US Theatrical Cut? since my intention was to use the official cut caption and only subtitle the US Theatrical Cut exclusive footage, if anyone can help me I would be very grateful.
Thanks in advance
I think I don't quite get what you mean but if that helps there are very few places where there is more text than the European theatrical cut. The biggest thing is in the scene where they switch the babies' numbers. You can hear the dialogue between Cockeye and the nurse. In the scene where Bugsy spits on Max he says he'll kill him if he does it again. A few more words here and there but nothing big.
Find a copy of the script
And what about De Niro?
Wow, the opening credits are like a shit TV movie
😂
