    Has the declumper been improved? Many people are saying that a lot of coffee is retained behind it...

      This would be it's achilles heel in some sense. They have tried many variations - and with too many variations on what works - it's part of the grinder - you'll most likely want to mod yourself to work best

    For grinding for both espresso (main interest) with my Robot and filter which my wife does daily with a MoccaMaster (and an occasional V60) is this a preferable grinder to the Baratza Forte or the Mahlkonig X54? Or is one best advised to get two grinders? I currently use a J-Max for espresso and an old Breville Smart Grinder Pro for filter and a Q2 for V60.

    • @AlternativeBrewing

      Yes, I'd happily go this grinder for all the above mentioned Brew methods 👌 Will make a world of difference.

      Yes, absolutely - or you could also pick up a brand new set of burrs for your Mazzer Mini and this will also do the same 👌

    Can df64 grinder grinding for turkish coffee? Or espresso already the finest?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 9 měsíci

      Hey, thanks so much for watching 🫶 Due to recent issues with achieving the desired fineness for Turkish coffee, we've decided to stop recommending any grinder for this specific purpose unless the manufacturer explicitly states its capability. Thank you for your understanding

    I just bought one of these, haven't received it yet, BUT I am seeing a LOT of videos all about mods for the grinder.
    I'm at the point of probably returning the thing. Grinder rings, declumping mod, popcorn mods, this mod, that mod. Why the hell hasn't this thing been fixed up by the manufacturer?
    Regretting this purchase without even having it yet.
    What is the consensus, is it worth the money for something that has to be modded significantly? Mine's out for delivery tomorrow so need to work out what I am doing quick. You would think for the cost of this they would have it squared away 😞

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před rokem +1

      THe one in the video has not been modded. THere are people modding these still - but a majority of the mod videos were back when this it was the first or second iteration of DF64. Australia and NZ have a slightly different V3 of the DF64 , that has much better performance than other internationally sold DF64's, due to the importer understanding these issues and ensuring the DF64 is a worthy Grinder.
      My experience with these Grinders is only positive. Mods improve on this grinder - but I wouldn't say it's a faulty design based on this. You could go about improving any grinder to be better - though the DF64 is one that is much easier to mod, compared to other grinders - that and yes - the OG versions did need some work on the retention issues some were experiencing - especially since this is a low retention grinder. Otherwise, you have a very good grinder - that won't disappoint.
      However, if you choose to return - please ensure you read our return policy for more information: alternativebrewing.com.au/pages/returns-policy
      If there's anything I can help with, let me know / josh

    Where can I get a grind catch cup riser? Etsy link says not available. Actually, also, my machine is not grinding to espresso needs.......just got my new machine and now this brand new DF 64 won't produce. Any suggestions? Thanks

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes this was the 3.2v. There's still a few more available of these at a great price might I add - however there is now the Generation 2 model which eclipses the Gen1 V3.2.

  • @neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeowwwwwwwww

    Hey Josh, I bought one of these from AB about 2 weeks ago, and it doesn't have the new angled cup holder. Whats the go? Also it chirps like the burrs are touching regardless of where on the range i'm set. Please send help!

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 2 lety

      Hey there, first, thanks for shopping with AB! - The cup holders should have been shipped with the for sure, so sorry about that! Please contact our customer service team at orders@alternativebrewing.com.au and they should be able to organise one for you. The chirping burrs - I would add this as a video in the email - and request assistance there - It's difficult to suggest what could be done to resolve this without seeing / hearing it first.

    Hey Josh, If you upgraded to SSP burrs, would this perform the same as the Lagom p64 in terms of result in the cup?

    • @edipisreks5535
      @edipisreks5535 Před 2 lety +1

      It would, but the burr set isn’t the only thing you are buying the Lagom for.

    • @lpnew3
      @lpnew3 Před 2 lety +2

      Nearly. Due to the flapper design and more rudamentary alignment of the df64 the lagom might be still ahead. But the difference would be really small if you diy a bit on the DF64

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Blake, I've never actually got my hands on a Lagoom P66, but would love too - and to add to that - comparing same burrs - different grinders, I'd be down.- It would be similar to say the Niche Zero and the Mazzer Kony, both using the same 63mm Conical mazzer burrs. It's very very close if at all perceptible

      @George_explores_coffee Před 2 lety

      Hey josh,
      Thanks for the awesome video. I got this grinder from your website on my birthday with ssp high uniformity. The only issue I’m having after having aligned the burrs ( not too sure if I’ve aligned them perfectly) is that when I grind at setting 3 the beans tend to clog and spin and spin without coming out of the shout. So in order to get them out I need to coursen the grind. I’m using light roast beans and the flair 58 and if I grind at let setting 5 for light roast the shoot is pulled really fast because the beans are too course. So I was wondering if you could make a video showing how to aligned ssp hu burrs or if you have any advice?

    • @rand9176
      @rand9176 Před 2 lety

      @@George_explores_coffee There are a few videos on YT with people doing burr alignment on the df64 with ssp burrs, here is one - czcams.com/video/mIugzsjzEUI/video.html
      Fast extractions on light roasts can actually be a good thing (depending on your preferences of course), video on turbo shots that explains what I'm talking about here - czcams.com/video/kOSbOZY_tN0/video.html

    How would you compare the flavour profile to a Mignon, especially the smaller burred ones like Silenzio and Specialita?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 2 lety +4

      I've found most, if not all standard flat burr grinders have much better clarity and sweetness than using Conical burrs. The DF64 profile is just a little more refined in these categories of flavour versus any of the Eureka grinders. It really is superb for filter coffee as you can imagine - and when it comes to espresso grinding - the workflow is super fast. Eureka grinders are great grinders - very reliable and a step up in class from anything else in the $500-1k price bracket - but the DF64 brings so much more value - especially if your single dosing, single origin beans etc ...

    • @221b-l3t
      @221b-l3t Před 2 lety

      @@AlternativeBrewing Thanks for your reply. I have a Silenzio and it's great for espresso. Alledgedly for filter too but I've never done it, because of the dial. So I'm looking for an all purpose grinder for decaf espresso + pour over, mokka pot etc... Although I'm more inclined towards the J-max so I can take it on holiday with a pour over set or a mokka pot.
