    Great 51. We looked at the 47 at Annapolis and like you we think the 51 is for us. The amas are too narrow and I can’t get past that outside access for them in unpleasant weather climbing days an that narrow ladder.

    • @SAILINGTELLUS
      @SAILINGTELLUS Před 4 lety

      Thank you for your feedback. Cruising at 9 knot with 10 knot of wind at 90° angle. The Neel 47 doing it much better than all the catamarans we rented before in terms of speed.

      @@SAILINGTELLUS thank you for the quick response. Very helpful to see comments by somone who has gotten out and sailed it in many conditions. One more question... how well/easily does it tack? In my experience it is certainly a Neel 45 challenge and can be a trimaran issue in general.

    • @SAILINGTELLUS
      @SAILINGTELLUS Před 4 lety

      @@jkreitlerinsf With the trinquette it is easier to tack as you don't have to do anything. With the Genoa need to be 2 person and need to be fast to pull back the Genoa and send it on the other side.

      @@jamesaron1967 The Neel is faster. But hard to tack and much less confort inside. Very happy with the 450S so far.

      That goes for any multi hulls under 50 feet it just going to happen going directly into swells.

    • @jamesaron1967
      @jamesaron1967 Před 2 lety

      @@dasimparmy2289 I've seen videos of multihulls in the 50' range and they also do it. Interesting that racing multihulls are much less prone to hobby-horsing. I think it's less a factor of hull length and more the design compromise for a greater buoyancy need in a cruiser. If you look at each hull of the Neel trimarans, you'll notice they're not really prioritized for wave piercing. The hulls bulge downwards around the waterline, and this design probably induces a tendency to lift rather than pierce through the waves. Just some thoughts.
