    I was at the fight too, damn...the skill level of the fighters on display on Saturday was so poor. The event did not live up to the press conference and my boys from South London need to learn to throw their hands a lot more. Ben Whittaker was extremely disappointing; he promised that noone will ever interrupt one of his press conferences like Ezra did after they see what he was going to do to Ezra. Ezra was basic bordering poor yet went the distance without being embarrassed or at risk of being stopped. It was a poor night's fights from top to bottom.

    I don’t mind Whittaker. But I get a feeling he may well end up like Josh Kelly. All flash no substance. I don’t think he has the required power to do it at top level imho. It’s not like he’s Bivol where he’s an absolute master with incredible fundamentals and enough power to at least make the top guys respect it a bit. I think he’ll get found wanting, just like Adam Azim will when the going gets tough.

  • @cobenblack1876
    @cobenblack1876 Před 13 dny

    I mean I’ll tell you why I’m critical of Ben Whittaker; he’s dominant, that’s true but he’s fighting low level guys; he should be.
    The problem is, in your early career you build and you learn little lessons that take you further and allow you to expand as you settle into the pro ranks. There’s issues in his style where he’s not addressing them because they’re a part of the showboating, and if he starts taking things more seriously and starts to change his style he’s going to be doing so without the experience of testing that style and honing it. His footwork looks good but he’s also building the habit of being square on a lot. He crosses his feet a lot too when he’s backing out. Those things aren’t being exposed by the fighters he’s in with, but he’s also not working on them because he’s trying to build a watchable style.
    Ultimately though he’s got great reactions and he looks fun in the ring but he’s probably got a cap of under world level since he’s got no power at all and he’s not going to be able to keep anyone big off him. They’ll just walk through his tricks and he’s not as slippery as he thinks he is. He’ll earn more money this way though so fair play to him; if he knows he’s got a low cap and he’s trying to make the most of his career then crack on. I think it’s fair to be critical of the actual boxing though.

    He's scared to dig his punches in he lands quickly and then moves because of a counter but clever fighter will know this and time him or throw at the same time knowing he's not much power.
    He might have power but he doesn't land his punches right he's to quick to pull back he needs to land one hard and really dig it in especially to the body.
    The opponent won't counter if it's hard so he should leave a few hard ones and leave the punch to go right through the body and then just ride the counter and move with it if it's mainly a left hook coming.
    He's good at reading what is coming back so knowing that go straight through the target.

Thing is, he is between a rock and a hard place to a degree...If he bangs his step ups out after looking like Naz through the fight, he will be put in too early with the killers and get sparked himself, thus destroying his confidence, when he is actually building up...Also, no mid level fighters on the rise themselves, will want to take the risk of fighting him...If this is the case and he is under orders to fight as he is at his current level, maybe he is on the right course of action and will turn it on, at the championship level...Who knows however and I could be completely wrong...LOL...

      @@johnnymartin2001 people said Haney had no power. Then Haney became undisputed. The only only fighters with crazy ko power are Beterbiev and Tank. Even Canelo doesn't knock people out nowadays. So let Ben be Ben. He is a superstar hence this video was made

    Just another hype job crunching cans that will amount to nothing.
    So sick of prospect hype and prospect boxing, which is little more than legalized assault these days.
    If you're good then have competitive fights. Clobbering hand picked cab drivers isn't entertaining.

    Of all the Olympic level talents I’ve seen in recent times, Whitaker has gotta have some of the least power I’ve seen. I think Cruiserweight might be better for him. Ain’t cracking anyone at even intercontinental level at his current power level.

      You think he has no power now, but think he will up at Cruiser?😂

      @@aFights It’s only a theory tbh. But whatever he does, at LHW he clearly has little power. Didn’t he also struggle to make weight for this IBF top 15 ranking belt?

    I think Bivol would have a field day with Ben.when Ben wants to muck around and pose Bivol would be all over him like a cheap suit landing heavy thudding shots.
