Iceland and the Faroe Islands were settled by Vikings that came from the Scandinavian countries (especially Norway, and the other countries in Scandinavia are Norway, Sweden and Denmark). All these countries at that time spoke the same language. But since these languages have gotten influenced much from outside countries and the language has changes. The Danish language the most, the Icelandic and Faroese languages the least, and thereby closer to the Viking language then the rest.

@fhurvhur I was not referring to the whale killing in it's self. I was referring to "They kill whales for money" and the general ignorant beliefs that we only do it for sport/fun/tradition/welcome our youth into manhood and so forth.
People just have a habit to state there opinion/beliefs/what they read "somewhere"(usually just others opinions and misguided interpretation of what really happens in a whale hunt) as facts!
I respect that you have your own opinion, that I would never deny anyone.

It is not illegal to sell whale meat if you have more than you can use yourself. The illegal part is at the killing itself, everyone is entiteled to their share of meat and it is illegal to demand money for it at that point, but if you live in another part of the country, you are fully allowed to buy from someone who has enough himself.

Annual mean temperature in Tórshavn is 6.5°C. Temperatures in January and February are approx. 3.5°C. In July and August approx. 10.5°C. Annual mean temperature varies from place to place and is lowest near Vága Floghavn (6.0°C) and highest in Sandur on the island of Sandoy (7.0°C).
Although variations in temperature are generally small from year to year, temperatures occasionally rise above 20°C. Highest temperature ever measured was 26.3°C at Vága Floghavn in July 2003. In winter, temperatures may fall below freezing point. The lowest temperature ever measured was -12.3°C in March 2001 - also at Vága Floghavn.
Temperatures in Tórshavn are higher today than they were in 1873. This increase primarily took place during 1920-1940 and yet again since the 1980’s.

and when are you civil? you are walking around like you own the world, talking bad about a country and saying things you don't even know properly. and beside, by saying such things, on a video that is just related to the country but about the subject the video is about, the only thing you are accomplishing is provocation.
so you must love getting into arguments.

I understand that you care about the animals, so do we, which is why we continue to develop methods of killing them as fast as possible to avoid suffering.
And well, name me one food group that isn't toxic these days? Even organic fruit gets all kind of crap dumped on it from above, just not the same amount as sea food does.
And people are taking the health warning to heart, cutting down on the amount beint eaten and in some cases even stopping.

actually I think the reality is completely distorted, the people there seemed to be very civilized, rather than try to show, and whaling is so "fair" as pigs, cattle, birds that are killed daily in the world ... it is possible to say that are wrong in hunting or fishing whales for their own sustenance while the world kills animals with the same intention? can not judge, and I think that Watson should review your goals when a civilized people like the Danish practice its fight against hungry.

    Stop with the propaganda bullsh**.
Still can't believe that people actually believe these kind of ignorant claims!
I recommend that people do there own research and come to there own conclusions and stop believing everything they read/hear.
Be proactive in strengthening your own intelligence and do some homework.
    P. S. It's illegal to "earn" money by selling whale meat in the Faroe Islands.
Your conclusion above: Killing any animal for money, Is a disgrace to humanity... Okey then!

Also to chat to faroes is different, they like to listen, they like to talk without showing they know all best like the people in bigger Iceland.
Only what I do not like is the whale massacre, it is really so bad and stupid, I can not stand photos where people are laughing over killing them!!!!!
