  • Line 1 is the second oldest Barcelona Metro line, after line L3. It is the longest line of the Barcelona Metro, and links L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Originally operated by the independent Ferrocarril Metropolitano Transversal de Barcelona, it is today operated by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) and is part of the ATM fare-integrated main transport system. L1 is the only metro line in Spain to use wide Iberian gauge tracks, as used by most Spanish mainline railways.
The line was created in 1926 as a means to join the rail stations the city had in the 1920s, and in preparation for the 1929 Universal Exposition. It has been growing since then to become, as of 2007, a large line made up of 30 stations, the network's busiest. Most of the line is underground, except for one short section, and at one point it shares tunnels with mainline tracks.

Une ligne qui mérite d'être empruntée en raison de son gabarit assez unique. J'aime beaucoup la station Espanya assez caractéristique.

For you to know, in Barcelona it is quite difficult to find a station that is built overground. This is quite common in NYC, but if you go to Barcelona the best example would be Can Boixeres L5 or Zona Franca L10

It is quite impressive that they were able to afford to dig and bore that many tunnels in Barcelona. It is cheaper to build elevated rail especially in less dense areas but in BCN the vast majority is underground. When I lived in Barcelona it was amazing how expansive the metro is, but as someone from Vancouver in Canada we have 3 metro lines that are majority are elevated above ground and I enjoy riding them more than in Barcelona. However Barcelona has one of the more expansive metro systems in Europe, so that makes up for it.

That's correct the people do not litter they actually use the subway for transportation.and I'm more sure strict laws is impose if caught littering .but why would anyone litter for something they pay to use
