disagree its easy she had to basically take a character that cant speak easilly and portray her entire dialogue through vocal manerisms grunts squeaks and other assorted noises. its like vin diesel as groot you think hes just saying those three words till you realize each line has to be delivered as if he were giving a full speach of dialogue

It's actuially good, really. Most of the VAs are perfect for their roles...well, maybe except the narrator. Cristina Valenzuela (Vee) totally nailed it as Yamai.
I dunno I think the deadpan reading of the narrator works, it's just that the narrator is sometimes inappropriately shoved into the mix to try and make up for Netflix's laziness with subtitles

That's what happens when you have seasoned VA's who actually know what they're doing and good direction, they're all pretty wonderful and do their roles for the dub well.
i usually hate dubbed romances but from what i've seen komi sans dub looks pretty good. still prefer the sub though but thats only because i think the sub is better at keeping the tone consistent

I agree that the English cast is absolutely wonderful. They are equally as good as the original Japanese voice cast from the moment I heard of this English dub.

I think they nailed the voices on most of the characters. Tadano’s unfortunately does not imo suit him, and it’s a bit irritating how he narrates Komi’s words for us. Komi’s words are always read in the minds of people, that includes the audience. When Tadano says it, then it feel like Komi is also played by Tadano’s VA and the chalkboard scene was a bit off since he was speaking over it. That whole scene was to simulate a silent conversation that they had together and Tadano voicing over them felt very unnecessary. Najimi’s VA is a little better than Tadano’s but I still have my complaints about their voice. The narrator also narrates unnecessary things sometimes. But hey that’s just my opinion, there may be some reason why they did that who knows
I can see why you don’t like Tadano’s voice actor but for me its the opposite. Idk why but I personally don’t really like Tadano’s sub actor (plz don’t murder me) and when I heard his dub actor I was stunned by his performance. I personally really liked his narration over Komi’s words cause well he’s the one reading what she writes on her notebook. And I also loved his narration over the chalkboard scene cause like I said he is the one reading what she’s writing so hearing him say what she was writing on the chalkboard felt more impactful to me instead of the total silence in the sub, which yeah that was the point for them to have silent conversation but that’s just me.

The voice actors are good, but deciding to have Tadano/other characters read out the written text was the absolute worst choice they could have made.
Fun Fact, they actually reworked some of the moments in the dub, making some parts more preferable

I personally think this anime is one you should watch dubbed, if only just because I just feel like Komi's voice tugs at my heartstrings harder when she's speaking in a language I can understand.

The voices are nice but there are some issues I see (at least from the clips I've seen) like that their names are said backwards (for example the dub says najimi osana when it should say osana najimi) since in Japan the family name comes before the given name and seeing as all the names are puns ( ie. Tadano hitohito basically meaning normal human or osana najimi meaning childhood friend) they should be said the right way. Also don't really like the narrator dub or sub I think the words in the boxes should be read by the watcher (also for dubs should be written in English in my opinion) seeing as Komi mainly talks thru writing its a major part of her character development. And if they really needed a narrator that badly ( they didn't) this series kinda has one already in a character named Kometani who could have cameo'd in the 1st season since he wasn't introduced until somewhat later in their 1st school year.
their names being said in the order of first name, last name, instead of last name, first name in english, has been done long before now and it's essentially a cultural difference. in japan, calling someone by first name can be considered fairly personal, while in the west, it has little significance, and as such is not treated the same.
this series (as for a multitude of other series) benefits from japanese culture being upheld, but in the west, much of the culture is specific to japan, so some minor changes are to be expected for western audiences to understand (hence why the honorifics Chan, San, Kun, and even Sama are dropped or rewritten.)
as for the narration, i'm personally here or there on. While I don't think having a narrator spell everything out that's not in English is the best, personally I give it a pass since the text boxes in this show can fly by really quickly.
It can worse off for the people who are just listening to it while working on something, too. While the comedic moments can be watered down due to how much of it is through text specifically and not narration, those moments can fly right by to a number of people.

0:09 sounds too artificial , doesn't carry as much emotion as in the Japanese dub and his soft voice doesn't match with the visuals which indicate someone screaming as hard as they can .
