MY First Time in ADDIS ABABA Ethiopia (I can't Believe This!)

- This is my first time in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia! I'm really excited to be here and can't wait to explore this beautiful city!
If you're considering a trip to Ethiopia, then be sure to check out this wonderful city! In this video, I'm sharing my first impressions of this city and my first time in Ethiopia.
I started my tour at the Red Terror Museum, then walked all the way up to Unity Park. Unfortunately, I was late and didn't manage to get in. There were more places I had planned to visit, and that's exactly what I did. I walked further up to Miyazya 27 (victory monument) and finally ended my first day's visit at the Holy Trinity Church.
Along the way, I met many kind Ethiopians who gave me valuable information. Ethiopian people are religious, honest, and the most friendly people I have met so far.

That is The Most Imprtant church in Ethiopia. There are way bigger and modern structured churches, but Trinity Cathedral is the Basilica of Ethiopian Orthodox Church. So much history there
Unit Park is part of the palace. The Prime Minister lives there and his office is next to that. That is why it is heavily guarded.

Most of the trees at Africa park are planted by the then African Union (OAU - organization of african union by then) founding head's of states of African countries. The reason for the naming.
The unity park is also the palace where the office and residence of the PM is located. The unity park is also open for visitors, but make sure if it is open tomorrow as it is easter Sunday. It is a mix of very interesting and informative history, zoo, etc. Sorry Holy Trinity is under maintenance.

The road to Meskel Square is called Jomo Kenyatta street. Most people don’t know that. It is not as popular as Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi.

Example: Wédajínet park.
አንድነት - Andinńt … Unity
Example: Andinńt Hayl Nèw. (ie., Unity is strength).
Thank you. Amharic is a difficult language to learn. I have really struggled to pronounce Ameseginalehu (thank you).
Other areas you should visit are : Adawa museium in Piassa area. Galma Gadaa Oromo cultural museium near maskel squared. To. The left of where you start on this video. Or exactly infront of the stadium.
I was at oromo cultural center but the security didn't allow me to go in. I was later told there is nothing much inside to see.
Friendship Park - is wedajenet Park . Unity Park is the old Palace of Emperor Menilke that has been renovated into a park and a museum also. The Prime Ministers Residence and Office is also in Unity Park. There are tour guides at Unity Park have them show you around you will learn more thigs that way...
Holy Trinity is also going through renovation you would not be able to see much of the Cathedral
but the ground holds a lot of intersting site including a memorial for all the Ministers that were killed during the Derge period.

The first park you saw in front of the old UN office is called Africa park, and thats the old UN office.

The paintings were made by the late Ethiopian artist Afewerk Tekle in majority but definitely no work of Michealangelo is found in Addis.🔔And was that the son of Jomo Kenyatta or the Senior Komo Kenyatta he was mentioning about? The Senior was a good friend of Emperor Haile Selassie.🔔

The person who is trying to guide you has many mistakes. one is disinformation about Michael Angilo's painting in church and the other is about the friendship between Jomo Kenyatta and Meles Zenawi (ex-prime minister of Ethiopia.. Of course, Emperor Haile Selassie and Jomo Kenyata were close friends. The painting was done by a famous Ethiopian artist and Greek called Germinis.
No he is right. The painting of Michelangelo is found in the other church (Bahta Mariam Church) where the grave of Emp. Meneilk is found. Also by Kenyatta he was referring the son (the previous Kenyan President before William Ruto)

There so many cities in the southern America higher than Ethiopia in terms of height above sea level if am not wrong
