- Team Fortress 2 was released in 2007, and its user interface hasn't seen very many changes since then, the in-game HUD especially. A lot of people believe that the default HUD is now outdated and cluttered, prompting them to download a custom HUD and use that instead. There are a lot of HUDs out there, but which do you prefer?

I’ve played TF2 for nearly 8 years now and have always used the Stock HUD since it defines what the game is at its core, although I wish you could manually change the location and boarders of the Stock HUD to your liking since I don’t want to keep looking down at the corner of the screen every time I’m playing the game like when checking how much Uber I have or how much ammo I have left in my clip
If you're willing to put in the time to learn, you can make slight edits to the stock hud without having to build a new one from scratch.
Stock HUD is extremely nauseating to look at imo
then just download the improved default hud

Fantastic video! Personally I always make sure to play with your version of toonhud and tf2 essentials, I used to use the default hud for the longest time. The game is a whole lot better when all of these features and intricacies are made more apparent, thanks for all of your work!
I just installed my first custom HUD, "Hypnotize HUD", and oh man, what an upgrade. I can actually pay attention to my health for once. So cleeean.

I like how you took the preferences of HUDs from different youtubers which represent a certain portion of players in the game. Traders, competitive, mains, etc. It's cool that you include each type of TF2 player's preferences. I also like that you respect people's choices for HUDs. Good video and good job!

I used the stock hud for a while but then I found toonhud, that’s been my favorite so far and I’ve been using it ever since then.
You deserve more subs! Great and useful videos!
I use e.v.e HUD because of a few things. One thing I love is that is stays true to the stock while improving on the areas that need improving for me such as the health which i find very hard to see and the damage I am doing to my enemy. I love both of them being so clear and I overall just think the fine tune style looks great.

I personally never had problem looking down there to check my health and looking back at centre of screen but still I use custom version made by me of toonhud

I just started using Hamji's theme for ToonHUD. I'm planning on making my own ToonHUD theme. Thanks for the help, because I always thought that custom HUDs were more of a cosmetic thing.
Zeeshud is a really good one. It's what I was looking for.
I started playing TF2 recently and this helps so much, I just wish I started played TF2 earlier than I did now
I love how in ever clip the hud had something changed.
I use HUDs that are very similar to the default HUD, alongside the default HUD itself. I tried using tf2hud+ (detailed version of default HUD), classichud (2007 version of default HUD), and idhud (improved version of default HUD), and I loved all of them!

I tried a lot of huds but I now use Toonhud. It's the only one I found that could be customized very easily and I really like it. I don't really have any problems with it.
I played with the stock hud for a while after giving the game another go, I switched Huds to an Overwatch Style Hud not long after. All the sizing and what have you were familiar so it has made Tf2 a far more enjoyable experience.
BudHud looks cool because I like it's modernity and it looks neat and properly balances the simple hud like ToonHud and the default hud.

I've been playing TF2 for about a week or so at the time I'm writing this, and I've been using BudHud mainly because of its crosshair. Budhud's crosshair is perfect for me because I can see it clearly in the background on any map and scenario, even tho I'd like to be able to change the yellow color of the crosshair to green.

For me its always been DiNhud something about the color scheme and how the numbers pop out give is sort of a retro type feel not to mention the "rage quit" button which directly quits the game no matter what, i just really love it.

A good thing to know is that you can implement custom materials onto your hud and bypass sv_pure.
Basically the reply folder still to this day is ignored by sv_pure (both 1 and 2) making it the only place for you to spread your creativity.
I use Tf2’s custom hud but I use the minimized version so it’s not so intrusive or bulky. I really like it and can’t see myself changing it, i’m just glad there’s a minimized hud feature in the first place.

i use a modified version of toonhud, i always liked the way toonhud looked but i wanted my own personal touch to it, so i pushed all the info towards the center of the screen, made my character avatar bigger, added a team color down at the bottom, and a few more little things here and there before i had my own hud

I remember opening BudHud in VS2017 and editing alot of the values to my liking. I even tried porting TOONHUD to Open Fortress and was actually pretty successful but it was more of a quick hack and not an actual port, so I never published it.
how do you edit the class images at the top of the screen beside the timer? like how you have a blue cat version of the classes

What console command is where you can see on the bottom of your hud it shows if a demoman or medic (example) gets hurt or a gunshot is nearby
I use transparent viewmodels on my HUD because it helps me see my animation overhauls
I use aHud because it looks slick. It's comfortable IMO and it gives everything I need.

Hey guys I was tryin’ to find how to put in the hud like the texts “soldier hurt a bit” something like that I had trouble to find that option on custom huds so, I want to ask of how you can put that texts on my hud? It is something you have to move in the advance settings?
Woolen's reasoning is probably about to get me into HUD making so It's something I like to use for myself really

They're so sexy in such different ways. Hearing Breakfast makes me so happy and Woolen is really cool to just chill to.
I have a question. If i want to change my hud back to default do i just remove that custom hud from the customs folder or is it more complex?
E.V.E HUD is my favorite. Everything about it is just simple and comfortable to use.
I personally use either ToonHUD or the Improved Default HUD, alternating between the two. I know Doomsday was joking on his segment, but I find the Overwatch HUD to be quite impressive since it provides a very good example of how flexive the custom HUD system of TF2 is, basically making the game look like an entirely different game. The only other example of this that I can think of is the Borderlands 2 HUD for PAYDAY 2.
Also, I'm glad to know that people are actually using the Prinny Machete on the Spy. Always fun to backstab people with it.
What hud was the comic sans and very simple buttons is it called team fortress two?
We need to make the health numbers on allies bigger. I sometimes main medic, and if I don't have the time to look at the tiny numbers, I base my priorities on the health symbol
How do you have your character (bottom left) showable and the hurt a bit (bottom right) and spy finder?

Tbh I really like the standard tf2 hud, I recently removed mine and downloaded a slightly improved version, where its just easier to see the hit number and thats about it.
