You oughta hear the state troopers on the scanner. In Texas, there's always a state trooper in your county. Probably more than one or two. I'm talking small town counties. When you listen to the state trooper on the scanner, he's always the one with the most power and he lets everybody know it. You can always hear they're the ones with the least patience and most self importance. They expect the sheriff deputies to jump when they say jump, they treat dispatchers and wrecker drivers with condescension and they have a clear contempt for anybody but other troopers.
