    I have always hated how woocommerce buries the description to the bottom, where most users don't see it. Hopefully the upcoming changes allow for more flexibility on placement of the long description field. Have yet to find a great solution with full flexibility with woo. Nice work like always Paul!

      I know what you mean. It was an odd location for one of the main pieces of content for any product over the short description.
      Tbh, I've always found WooCommerce a bit of a PITA to work with. It feels convoluted to do so many things in comparison to many non-WP e-commerce solutions.

      You can have more control with a Block Theme. You can use the product blocks to make the design you want.

    There's lots of negativity here about the new Woocommerce product editor beta, but I for one hated the old/current way of managing products. Now that's a UI that felt clunky and confusing as hell. I like the way Woo has gone with this. It looks a lot cleaner and easier to understand. I will definitely be giving this a test drive. I agree with Paul and some of the comments about there being areas for improvement, but this is still in beta testing after all. I like the new tabbed, almost "wizard" style design, and the fact you can now use Gutenberg blocks over the "classic" editor is a vast improvement. It has a way to go, sure...but doesn't everything?

    As a UX designer and a WooCommerce user, the product tools are way more segmented and it feels that it offers less information. A cleaner UI with less information does not equal to a better user experience, especially with managing a large quantity of products. It honestly looks like half of the tools/settings are either too hidden or completely reworked which can be jarring for most shop managers. I do hope the developers QA this with customers before making drastic changes to how day-to-day WooCommerce users manage their stores.

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 10 měsíci +2

      I agree - there are many options that are hidden away and could easily be overlooked if you don't know where to find them.

    I would seem extra clicks are a thing in wordpress since Gutenberg. I always use classic editor because Gutenberg confuses clients and I think the new Woo update will do the same, particularly if they try to "design" a product page that's already designed to be dynamic within the custom theme.

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 10 měsíci +1

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg Před 10 měsíci

      @@WPTuts Hopefully it's just something they've forgotten in the current beta, because for a product that has variations those variation sku's are super important since thats the only way to track stock between a stock keeping software and woo as a unique identifier. There are no such thing in stock as a green t-shirt, only green t-shirt large, green t-shirt medium etc, which are the actual items that have SKU's in real life

    • @WPTuts

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg Před 10 měsíci

      @@WPTuts yeah - actually, a variation of the new variations system where *changed* value fields only would show, like if price is set for variations, and sku, and maybe a couple of other fields, then going into variations and quickly see all fields with values only, and then have the option to "expand all" or for each variation would be a great solution

    Generally they are doing a good job on this but there is still room for iprovement. On the variations, the overall design is nice but I think it would be better if for each variant a full pane with all the fields were to appear. It would be more effeicient where a lot of data entry need to be done. Also. I don't see the option to add a pocture for each variant.

    This is really bad for power users doing more than adding a few products here and there from time to time :/ I do understand that Woo wants to make this "easier" and more "accessible" for new users in onboarding etc, but they *have* to make this thing optional, or preferrably offer a "newbie"-mode doing things this way, and a pro/expert mode for those of us who wants access to all the options on one page that can quickly be scrolled up and down instead of this "clickgasm" they are doing here - the variations bit can work as a separate window or dialogue-thingy, but it needs the features of quickly being able to set price changes and other stuff for all variations with as few clicks as possible - having to start adding more bloat with plugins that change the woocommerce admin back to something usefull, or table editing and stuff shouldn't have to be necessary out of the box :/

      @@BmxAddict08 Doing a bulk import isn't always the fastest/easiest way to get a slightly large handfull of changes done fast :/ I'm specifically talking about doing changes fast, not importing new products - having to export, do changes, re-import for several variations on several products involves a lot of steps, and aren't always the best way to sometimes just "get things done" :/
