The Sam Willows are a Singaporean indie-folk quartet of siblings Benjamin and Narelle Kheng, and their friends Sandra Riley Tang and Jon Chua, who burst onto the scene in the middle of 2012 with what Singapore's leading broadsheet, The Straits Times, described as a group with "lush, multi-part, girl-boy melodies and breezy and soulful acoustic pop tunes".
Their first EP of original songs (which is available at thesamwillows.c...) was released in October 2012 and made the top 10 local iTunes charts and top 50 albums sold on iTunes Pop Charts Singapore. In slightly over a year, The Sam Willows' CZcams account has drawn close to 524,000 views with their mixture of unique covers and fresh originals.
The Sam Willows are the first Singaporean band to be named leading Singapore young adult hit radio station 987FM's Rising Star, alongside international acts like Birdy and Ed Sheeran. They have won the m:idea Youth Choice Award 2013 in the band category by popular vote. Separately, they were selected to have a song recorded and produced by 5 time Grammy Award winning producer, Steve Lillywhite, CBE. *Glasshouse (Lillywhite Edition) that was released in July 2013!
The Sam Willows are currently the youngest Singaporean music act ever invited to play two prominent North American Music Festivals - South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas, (named SXSW 2013 - Freshman Favourite by review site Operation Every Band) and the Canadian Music Festival in Toronto, Ontario. Their North American tour also covered Los Angeles, where they played at venues including Villain's Tavern and The Roxy - On the Rox.

The way Ben and Sandra kept looking at each other with like raw emotion and how Sandra looked like she might cry made me cry. I have absolutely no idea who The Sam Willows is until I went for the Under The Stars: CZcams Sensation. And the first time I heard you guys are like made in Singapore (from Singapore.) I was like "nehh confirm not good" (omfg don't be offended!!! I have this mindset that local talent ain't that good enough not that I look down but omfggg I should shut up now..) but when you guys where on stage, YOU GUYS REALLY BLEW ME AWAY !!! like literally!!! I really really love how you guys sing those covers and like make it into your own style.. If you get what mean. ITS JUST SO UNIQUE AND INDIE IS DEFINITELY MY LOVEEEEEE ! And you guys are so friendly, kind, humble. And since then, trust me, I've been stalking you guys. I won the tickets for the Mediacorp thingy to see you guys !!! SANDRA WAVED AT ME !! I've listened to Meg and Dia since Secondary School days and songs like "Setting Up Sunday", "Indiana" and "Cardigan Weather" stir up so much warm nostalgia in me. you've no ideahhhhh. I'm a HUGE fan of Dia's voice and solo works as well and was the main reason why I got into The Voice in the first place. Such an incredible yet underrated artiste. I missed the chance to catch her around the same time last year [due to NS! Damn NS! (But congrats to Ben Kheng for his upcoming role in Ah Boys to Men musical!)]. Well, I'm glad she's returning with her sister this time 'round and I really don't wanna miss it! The tickets would be an awesome CNY present heh :D You guys should do a collab with her when she's here, it'd be amazinnnn.

Why I should win tickets to Dia Frampton's gig:
I deserve to win those tickets because I, like many others, am a huge fan of Dia Frampton. I have been fan of her even before she was just 'Dia Frampton' or known as 'Dia Frampton from The Voice'. When I got to know that she joined The Voice, I was really excited for her! I know that by joining that competition, she could make a big difference for Meg & Dia as a band. 3 years ago, I created @megdiasg on twitter as a form of fanbase account to get connected with other fellow Meg & Dia fans. It was rare for me to come across another Meg and Dia fan in Singapore but that account also got me to get connected to other fans around the world. Now, that account is also considered a Dia Frampton fanbase account as well and The Khaki Scouts(Meg Frampton's side project) too. I'm 20 now and the first song I ever heard from Meg & Dia was 'Roses' when I was... 13. I have been a fan of Meg & Dia for that long. Dia's lyrics as Meg & Dia and Dia Frampton has inspired me so much, especially the fact that she loves to read books and gets inspiration to write songs from reading books. I find that super cool that even literature could be a form of music inspiration. I have almost every Meg & Dia song and Dia Frampton songs in my itunes and know all the lyrics by heart. Dia has also inspired me to grab every opportunity and give it a chance. If I do win the tickets, it would mean the world to me as I get to see my favourite artist in the flesh.

This cover is so so good!! It's just my opinion but i think ben kheng and sandra should break off and duet. Their voices are so much stronger and their vocal chemistry is better as well. Maybe thats just me. Haha, but i'm wondering how many out there agree?

Hrm. Sam Willows is great, but I've got to say, he's really missed the magic of the original here. This is an "OK" version of a mind-bendingly powerful song. Were it anything else, that would be fine. Disappointing.
