      @@toadsortoes9230 He played exactly what needed to be played, that in my book, coming from a musician, makes him a top bassist. Nothin worse than jammin in a group where the bass player starts going off on one, sends the rest of the band on one aswell.

    since i read tony mccarrolls book my opinion on guigsy changed a lot. i knew he was a very limited bass player and founded oasis back in 91 but i didnt know he was such a pain in the ass to mccarroll.

    By "lost the plot", he likely had anxiety & depression and was trying to cope with it using drugs & booze; it's crazy looking back to these old eras that people didn't understand mental health at all - but in fairness, all of us 40/50-year-olds weren't taught about it as kids, in the 90s/00s mental health "didn't exist" i.e. we just didn't talk about it. I can't imagine the number of suicides; again, it was never reported; we all just pretended it didn't exist. He was Oasis in a way; they never got better than his era, and it was downhill from there!

    To me? Oasis is and will always be Noel, Liam, Bonehead, Guigsy and Alan White ( no disrespect to Tony but c'mon, Alan rocked it). Those 5 were Oasis at the peak of their powers and if you could just get the 5 in a room, no cameras, no management, no writers and let them just start bullshitting, i GUARANTEE you'd have a Reunion in 2hrs

    they should wake up and go again ...the new guys were great but the tension between Liam and Noel is all in the musicians line up ...Liam knew what worked with Noel's skills but Noel wanted perfection ....he would replace Johnny rotten with Mario lanza....

    I imagine the Gallagher brothers dominated and bullied the fuck out of all band members when they got so big it became all about the Gallagher brand and not Oasis anymore. After that , there was only each other to turn against….look what happened then.

      It was guigsy who was meant to be the biggest bully in the band. Noel was a bully as well but with liam- lots of people who have worked with him say hes fine, even a bit quiet and distant with band members

    Tony McCarroll must think to himself why the band liked the very boring and London boy Alan White over him. Who was a proper Northerner who had something about him. I know Tony’s drumming wasn’t as good but the band seemed to really dislike him on a personal level. Especially Noel.

      gary pring the official contract from Sony deemed Noel the boss. He shafted his own band. They only got 20% of royalties to split. Noel and record execs took the rest.
