      I went for years without a helmet. When I started working for a Harley-Davidson dealership I think is when I started wearing a HD modular helmet full time. Had a wreck on my bike on my way to lunch one day and that helmet saved me from a potentially serious head injury so I don’t plan to ever go without a helmet again.

      I wear a DOT approved half helmet that is HD branded. It’s made by J-Tech. I live in Florida and I don’t plan on wearing a full face helmet in this heat and humidity. I might wear a FF on a long cross country trip as I just bought a Bell FF, but I haven’t worn it yet. Good review.

      I have the same lid but the black with florescent yellow highlights, I really like the look and get plenty of comments. I found it a bit bulky at first compared to other lids but for the price-point, it's pretty good. I am now looking for a 22.06 one but plan on keeping it as a backup.

    Modular is the only way to go with a full face helmet. Have one that is Harley branded and it’s awesome. Plus, it was really easy to add my Cardo unit to it. Definitely get one that has a pop down sun shade.

    Good looking helmet. I tried one of these on last week and was very impressed with it, even over my Shoei GT Air II… seemed to be very comfortable!

    I got one of these.. my only disappointment was the fact it is 22.05 and not 22.06. The 22.06 drop-down sun visor actually needs to be considered "shatter-proof" so if a stone gets kicked at your face, it doesn't break apart and you get a lunch/face full of plastic shards. Good lid, I appreciate modular helmets because you can get sweaty in them and you can always pop up the lid to get a face of fresh air but remain just as safe as a proper full-face at speed.

    I loved my Exo gt920 for 3 years, just got a Shoei Neotech 2 before heading out for the Great American Convoy. No complaints with the scorpion, just wanted something newer, and have the ability to have a second helmet for a passenger (if I can ever talk my wife into getting on the back of my bike 😂)

      @@RidingintheOzarks I rode from my house on the Jersey Shore out to the Pocono Mountains to join the Convoy. The Convoy went from Pocono Mountain Harley-Davidson, to Williams Harley-Davidson in Lebanon New Jersey, stayed overnight, then went to Garden State Harley-Davidson in Morris Plains New Jersey, continued onto Old School Harley-Davidson in Connecticut, then continued up to Warwick Rhode Island. Stayed overnight, went to Russ's Ocean State Harley-Davidson in Rhode Island, back to the hotel for another overnight stay. From there we went up to Monty's Harley-Davidson in Bridgewater Massachusetts, that's when we visited the Perewitz shop, then continued up to the hotel in Revere Massachusetts to stay overnight. The next morning the Convoy moved on to Boston Harley-Davidson in Revere Massachusetts, which is where I said my goodbyes to everyone that morning and made my way back to the Jersey Shore in the rain lol

    • @RidingintheOzarks
      @RidingintheOzarks Před měsícem

      The mount on the chin is from chin mounts for this specific helmet. I did put a little silicone around it to help secure it because it has such a small contact surface. The one on the side is a GoPro sticky mount

    I just got this helmet. I'm not 100% on it. after taking out all the pads to put in the exo-com they don't seem to go back in right. They're pinched up in the back and pull out every time I take the helmet off. the biggest issue I have is that damned sun visor, it's so loose. With every bump in the road it comes down. I don't know if I just got a lemon or what but I'm thinking of returning it.

    Hey Man Mountain Mike, that was a very through review of the Scorpion helmet. I don’t wear a helmet unless I’m riding in o big city. I do a lot of highway miles and a crash at 80+ mph is going to have a very negative impact on the sudden stop. The helmet will only mean a open casket as opposed to a closed casket funeral. Yeah, harsh words but a reality and risk we run riding.
    Anyway, you sold me on the benefits of the Scorpion helmet. Do you have any information on helmet laws in Arkansas? That’s all I have for y’all today. Y’all peace out and I’m out. Y’all keep on riding.

    • @RidingintheOzarks
      @RidingintheOzarks Před rokem +1

      I agree and don’t wear one much but if I got to wear one for weather protection or to record a demo then this is the best helmet for me. No helmet required in Arkansas, probably have to have a full license not a permit kind of thing I would expect in the final print…

    • @DianaTheLance
      @DianaTheLance Před 8 měsíci

      Most crashes at 80+ mph aren't sudden stops for both you and the motorcycle, they're usually either sudden stops for the motorcycle that result in some airtime and a slide for you, or they're a slide for both you and the motorcycle, potentially ending in you hitting a tree if you're unlucky enough to slide off the road and into one. You don't have to die in a crash at highway speeds, motoGP riders crash at very high speeds all the time and walk away from them. If you're riding without a helmet, you're just cutting out your chances of surviving those crashes that don't have to be lethal.

    I am well pleased my home state of Missourah doesnt commie dictate a helmet anymore. That said i choose to wear a simple light weight open face kinda cop style helmet with chin strap and visor for sun protection .. keeps your ears and nose from getting burnt on long rides.

    Heavy. A lot of wind-noise and creaking sounds at all speeds. The neck collar liner skirt comes out when removing the helmet. Must be tucked back in. Fantastic design and style but poor craftsmanship and execution. I returned mine. Can’t recommend it.
