I'm 21 now and have seen Renaissance and Annie live some 10 or more times now, and have managed to earn my reputation as the walking encyclopedia of everything Annie Haslam and Renaissance (a title given to me by Annie herself, as well as many fellow fans). Thank you again for your comment, to this day I am still a massive fan of Annie and Renaissance and I can safely say I always will be.
I was unbelievably fortunate to be in the audience for this one. It was my very first Renaissance show, and I had just moved to the area from Virginia, and it was about halfway through when they did “Symphony of Light” when I finally ‘got’ what Renaissance was all about. As someone who knew of Mary Fahl from October Project, I was stunned when they brought her on stage. I get goosebumps even now watching this several years later.
Amazing. I was at this concert. Crowd was mesmerized by the Flower Duet. You could hear a pin drop in the audience.
Simply marvelous! It´s a precious gift to find both great singers together. Annie makes my life shines since the 70,s.... Mary feed that feelings after de 90´s... yours are the voices... mine is the joy!
Just stumbled upon this, 20 years ago envisioned OP and Renaissance playing together, two ends of the universe converging for a few minutes on the same stage.
The ladies? Who can beat a vocal pairing like this? The only thing missing is June Tabor. This was excellent. I always wanted to hear Annie sing with the original Renaissance vocalist Jane Relf -- who was also quite incredible. It would be so mesmerizing especially on a song like "Island."
The live drummer is definitely top tier studio -- he reads the music as he plays. A rarity. Lots of respect for this musician. He definitely will never be out of a job.

Of course Mary's range is very low compared to Annie's range but they do well together. I'd love to hear some studio songs by them together.
Fahl is an alto, Haslam is a coloratura.
Thanks Liane. :o) I would have said that Mary is even a contralto as she can sing so low, sometimes, but I'm not an expert and don't know how ranges are precisely defined. Now, I seem to remember reading about an opera singer mentioning that he was in between two ranges.

I remember the first time I heard October Project on wxrv 92.5 out of Boston, I said holy crap this woman hits me like Renaissance did 30+ years earlier. Two of the greatest female voices of all time, together, Beautiful!

They both have incredible voices but I don't think they mesh together well.
People are going to crucify me for saying this, because that's how the internet works - but...Annie Haslam was my favorite vocalist in the 1970s - but age has not been kind to her voice. I'd rather just hear Mary Fahl do it solo. sorry, I'm not a hater...I love Annie Haslam, but I have to be honest...

Yes, I agree. I wish Annie Haslam had the voice that knocked me out in the 70's. Mary Fahl still sounds great since her breakup with October Project.
My fear is this is indicative of age - it happens to all of us. Annie was struggling here - I agree. Thankfully we have lots of recordings and memories.
Two of my favourite vocalists,. Top marks for attempting it, but the Flower Duet was awful
