    Educational video, however I was always trained too and continue to train my staff to use 'Ready Steady Go' in all Moving & Handling techniques as 1,2,3 can cause problems where some people consider the movement to take place as '3' is called, others consider it to take place AFTER the 3, therefore if you are working with 2 people this could actually cause problems/injury etc

    Wow. I thought I informed the patient alot along the way. 😀 So what kind of chair is that? How long will he be left in that kind of chair stuck in the same spot? What if he was hemipelegic? How do you know he won't slip out of that chair? Why wasn't he transferred to a wheelchair? What if he has a bowl movement while in that chair?

    Many care workers accept the care assistant job without having desire to help people and compassion. This is a biggest problem from the majority of care homes. The second is the bad managment,and short staff.
    Somethimes you dont have time to finish the legal induction cours , etc.
    Or another aspect that CQC mentioned is what residents eat for breakfast for ex, is not ok to eat every morning just cereals and milk, cornflakes. We must ask residents what they want to eat, but if one say i want egg and ham with toast, we say - is no time for this,. So we can say is a neglect or bad managment? .
    In the kitchen in the mean time they work to prepare the lunch. There is no time and space to make different breakfast? For this are necessary another space where staff to prepare different breakfast for residents. Is not normal that the carer make the breakfast in the morning. They must wake upp the resisents, washing, dressing, bad making, toileting, etc. But in many care homes the carers make the breakfast going in the kitchen without protection even.

      It's mandatory to let the client/patient know of what you are doing.

      This is an 'eduvid', so they are sort of talking US through the sequence, also Mr Williams (or 'Bill' as he actually likes to be known) did say that he'd never seen a hoist before, so it's best to let people know in advance what is about to happen, once they've done it a thousand times you can just say things like 'lean forward a bit Bill' and they generally know whats going on - but ugh! how many times did they call him Mr Williams? That started to sound really grating to me, all true politeness was lost beneath a 'requirement strategy'.

    • @Sassycatxx
      @Sassycatxx Před 5 lety +1

      A bit overkill yes you need to explain what you’re doing but you don’t need to explain to William why you’re folding the hoist, she should be talking to the camera for those parts

    NEVER apply pressure to the knees, a very vulnerable area which should NEVER be touched during moving and handling...
    In bed the hip and the shoulder are the places to touch, when rolling, never the knee...
    In the sling, upon lowering the individual into the chair, only pull either side of the sling at approx hip height in order to correctly position for their bottom to be as far back in chair as possible..
    NEVER push the knees..
