    Thanks for the interesting video. Cam belts (especially in oil) get bad press, so interesting to learn that timing chains don't always last forever and can give you a problem.

      I'd rather have a cambelt, even if it runs in oil, than a timing chain nowadays, as parts are cheaper and it's designed to be replaced so less on labour. Even on this, which is a relatively simple change, it's going to be £700.

    Nice video, very good and easy to follow the steps, im might buying a i20 with skipped chain. This video shows approximately how to fix it, unless any valves is ruined 😱. Nice job!

    Great video, this will help me when I do one in a few weeks time. Much better than just looking in the black and white haynes manual.

    Nice job, looks like a fun little car to work on. My Saab 9-5 apparently needs the engine out to do a chain - any experience with them? Some people roll in a new chain but the plastic guides would be my worry...

    Should the variable Cams not be changed along with the rest of the timing chain kit

    Handy video, walks you through it nicely. Can you get away with not emptying the A/C? was the exhaust cam aligned? if you pause at about 2:22 it looks to be off, or is this just a trick of the light/angle?

    Hi. I am in process of changing head gasket of this car ( Hyundai i10 1.2 year 2012 ) Could you please let me know the torque spec for following components:
    Head bolts, camshaft caps, timing chain cover , crankshaft pulley bolts and engine mount ( chain side ) . Many thanks

    Hey mate, is it okay to leave the original sprockets in? I am trying to get a timing kit for my i20, and its hard to find a decent brand kit that comes with the sprockets!

    how muck slack are you supposed to have at the top of the chain. i removed the valve cover and there was some slack at the top.

      Very minimal to nothing, any play and you'll get fault codes

    Is it just a stretched chain though? With the Picanto I was doing, chain was stretched but the hydraulic tensioner was jammed, not allowing it to tension the chain.

    • @bazmeredith
      @bazmeredith  Před 11 měsíci

      Deffo stretched chain.. you can see in this video the tensioner was out and I pushed it back in

    • @ssss-df5qz
      @ssss-df5qz Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@bazmeredith yeah I suppose.
      My tensioner was in the new position, as it were. I wriggled it and it snapped out tight. Chain was stretched at least 8mm against the new one.

      Neither was I until we bought 2 Sonatas new in 2008. Since then they have suffered terribly from the odd blown brake light bulb and sun-visor not staying up. Also a clip went in the central cubby. And a window regulator went on one of them. And that's it. In 15 years. Both cars are on their original 'Hyundai' battery too.
