This is flawless. Impressive control of tempo toward the end. Great sustain and tension from Trey. Pure euphoria start to finish.
christ, if I could only go back in time for a day. that fucking climax is incredible.
This was the only Bonnaroo I attended... Absolutely amazing experience and best one they ever did 😊
I've been chasing that Trey feeling since this show... this was a pinnacle performance.
it was one of the best ever
the whole festival was magical, one of the peaks in the jamband scene
I was there 16 yrs old and it changed my life, id been to a handful shows, was so happy to see trey play, I've got a chance to phish never got to see them before so this was next best thing. After this festival i really caught bug, and it changed the next 5 years of my life. But that 5hr moe. Show where they played dawn was legendary.
I saw a video of this performance before I knew what a jamband was. I chased that feeling for years.
That tear at 7:00 is fucking amazing
I would sit through an entire Jonas Brothers concert just to see this song live once. I think it'd be worth it.
I was there.
One of the best performances I’ve ever attended. Amazing night.
absolutely amazing.... as one who listens almost exclusively to the dead, trey is definitely an amazing guitar player and i love his musical style.
I think Trey might just be pure guitar joy incarnate!
I'm sorry, but even after all these years... I still heart heart heart Jen Hartswick. So talented, so awesome. =D
Don’t be sorry. She rocks.
i literraly cry tears of joy when i watch this....
one of the best weekends i've ever had in my life. hadn't felt energy like that since big cypress.
No doubt I was 16 at the time travelled all the way from WI as my first of many road trip shows, changed my life. And that late night Moe. show till dawn Holy f-ing shit!!!
RIP Tony
Kosmos kochajcie Treya
this is epic! TAB goes insanely hard!!!!!!
If you're not smiling by the end of this clip... there is really something wrong with you. This is the sh*t.
I’m literally beaming ear to ear baby…
And to think I'm bouncing around somewhere in that crowd near the stage ... what a year. Thanks for posting this.
2:51 - 2:59 is what every aspiring guitarist wishes he could do but most fail to attain. Maybe I should only speak for myself, but that kind of pin-point timing and searing speed/phrasing of this sequence of licks is the stuff of greatness. His tone is perfectly gained-up to the point of slight scream and even as he is obviously annihilated on opiates during this performance, he's still KILLING these licks as he's loping around and looking back at Russ to signal the break down. @Mutoneon- your question "where did these chops go by 2004 they were dunzo" is exactly what I'm thinking. You won't get this technical, pentatonic shredding anymore from Trey at this stage of his career. I have listened to many shows lately and he never quite gets here anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I love Trey, TAB, Phish, all his iterations, but things just aren't how they used to be when it comes to his shredding. The band (Phish) has gotten stronger around him, and I find the joy nowadays coming from other members of the band. He doesn't seem to melt faces quite as much anymore - perhaps he's just not into dominating the soundscape with showy, shred-like licks anymore? More focused on the "mature" elements of music (like listening, song composition, vocals?) He still uses tri-tone/tension release concept constantly, which is great, but I just watched a "Push on til" from Summer Camp 2013 and his solo at the end (which I usually am drooling to hear) just did NOT have the tempo and mind-blowing licks that this performance has. Oh well, I was at this Bonnaroo (only one I went to) and this was an incredible set. I remember it was during the big hiatus and the rumor was that Trey was going to do a surprise set with Phish. Not to be, but we didn't care.
Trey is stronger than ever phish is ever growing they are and continue to be the best band in the world
who is she?
you need Dobson 93 and then go listen to bgca what 15? I don't remember. theres a light jam into possum bgca you would like. that dicks show before that was good. so lets all go this year then and trey will play. I seen phish play bonaroo in 2009 or something. it was balls to the wall hardcore fun. it was. and there was a Missouri fox show after and a show in wherever before- all were good. you need Dobson 93. I was there and early boulder stuff and I still go and I'm crazier than ever. come to everything this summer. trey will play
"inspiration move me brightly" and "let my Inspiration flow" see how "Inspiration" is capitalized? Its the name of the muse. huh trey. muses are their own thing, too
Super high on opiates but let’s not forget at this point he was loving the high and feeling it had taken over but not in his mind and he was still enjoying the addiction very much ! Just as in every artist that was using opiates . Look at jerry in 75-81 still bringing fire and had not yet gained weight ! This performance was so played on my DVD player when this came out . Nothing will ever be like 2002 -2005 Bonnaroo’s ever not even the fifty anniversary of Woodstock at Watkins Glenn I think won’t come close ! Great comment ! This is when everyone was raging in the “jam” scene .... BUT I WOULD MUCH RATHER SEE TREY TODAY WITH PHISH SOBER ! But yes read the article with trey here he talks about when he got into opiates , it was in mid early 2000 around roseland ballroom and everyone notices the itching from Vegas 2000 if you haven’t watch it that is early signs of his opiate addiction .... it started when he was hangin with kid rock .... lol na idk peace
Treay is Unbelievable. Makes the hair on my arms and neck stand straight up.
Imo Push on Till the Day performed by TAB is one of the best live experiences out there. Just so much fun and even someone who does not know or like Trey will enjoy it.
Front row baby 💕. Life is good.
I was there such a fun weekend 😍😍
Pretty explosive stuff.... someone call the bomb squad ;)

Imagine never having heard of phish or Trey and them coming out as headliner, and killing it!
this is pretty much exactly how it happened for me... shit changed my life forever. :0)
RIP Tony!
Was there - first Bonnaroo - sickness.
I wish the 2004 version was on here. In my opinion it’s a little better. This one still knocks your socks off.

sIIIIIIIIICK!
@popomczowzow I'm glad we don't have to, it was great, still is, at least those that didn't live it can get a taste
@girlphriend It is from the 02 DVD I guess he messed up.
He's fishes guitar player, isn't he? Funky....
phish :-)
It goes much deeper than that, but yes, "funky" too !
Seeing him/ them;), in a week or two. Fucking ready! Lost my job, bad shit happening. Never the less gonna party my ass off!
Have you found a new job yet?
Face melts at about 7:12
anyone know if this was the show on PBS 8 years ago ?
Trey is so god damned wasted here. Now that he's clean it is so obvious watching pre-2007 performances that he is super-toasted.
However, from 2:15 to 3:00 his high-speed pentatonic shredding is fucking magic. Damn, I am working on my speed and timing, and can sometimes nail descending, disgusting pentatonic licks like this, but Trey is evil. Oh yeah, and the entire arrangement of this song, the horns, the choppy funk are fucking brilliant.
SAMBA!
Where can I find the audio for this show?
Is the lick at 8:38 the same as the lick at 8:34 just played faster? the one at 834 is fairly straight forward to figure out but for some reason the one right after it giving me fits ... also what's the one at 9:25?
Where did these chops go? By 2004 they were dunzo.
the height of TAB... never again to be seen like this
WHEN WAS THIS.
@RyanAllenHolland
It's not the Jonas Brothers I'm worried about, more their fans....
Anyways, I live in Texas. Other than ACL in October, I don't think Trey/Phish ever comes to Texas. That could be the only way
2004?
Was this the 1st bonnaroo?
Like the 10th! First was 2001, I was at first 2. 😊
It was the first. I was front row. ❤️

This Stage
Where can I find the full video of this??
czcams.com/video/bMsnCHyuVKo/video.html
They were so excited they punched the wrong button. It wasn't on purpose.
Dino Stomps
What year is this from?
2002
@spleefy42 no one really seems to note that trey was totally sober that whole summer tour. they were sloppy from not practicing and fatigue not from the droogz. that came later.
Sometimes when you find that happy place on opiates a balance between pure focus and euphoria its not such a terrible thing
where is the first half of the song dammit
Damn Trey was off on this night
Easy there QuayleBite....
didn't knew chuck norris plays guitar
how's your father?
entirely false....this is 02, he went to rehab in 06
This was after Trey's rehab, probably the last time he played on pills was IT show.
Don't like seeing trey outside of phish it's weird
dopeerthandope c tab has been around since 98'
