Joshua Bardwell, I can't thank you enough for all the time and effort you put into your videos. they are more helpful than I can begin to describe and you are so happy to share knowledge. I truly appreciate it. I didn't even notice this playlist was SO recent, I have just been watching it because I am going to be building my first quad. I have had RTF's and BNF's before, and have done soldering, BetaFlight stuff, and repairs, but building is new. this playlist is going to be crazy helpful here in a couple days when I start my build! Thanks again for all your effort and being one of the most helpful channels with, "... a link to a video about that in the description box below..." for everything an FPV pilot could ever be confused about or struggle with!
Hey JB! Working my way through this (my first) build, and having SO much fun! Got to this step, and - while the getFPV listing is clear on the point that the kit does NOT include a receiver - this video kinda suggests that one is included. Certainly no worries - I realized this before I got to this stage of the build - and ALREADY had an EP1 on hand for an upgrade to my Nazgul bind-n-fly (currently configured for DJI RC2 -- but looking forward to flying it - and THIS build - with my new JB-edition TX16S.
Thanks for ALL that you do! #LifelongLearner #SoMuchSurfaceArea #DownTheRabbitHole. From a Phantom 3 circa 2015 - to 4 FPV drones purchased inside a month (Avata, Nazgul, JB Kit, Mobula8). WHEE!!
I love these tutorial videos! Thank you JB ❤
Thanks for the tutorial, Joshua! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I'm loving these videos! After being out of rc for 10 years, coming back has been a huge learning curve. lol
I appreciate your videos & information; you've been a great inspiration and a huge source of information for my own journey into fpv!
JB I appreciate the quick response to my questions! I am going to get this done! I have the dji rc2 but I also have a TX16S. I know which one I like in the sim. Guess I need a receiver. Love flying around your house btw.
Thank you, again. Love your videos. Greetings from Norway
You taught me to draw the fc and rx first in paper and where the wires go and colors . It is as fun as soldering and familiarizes us with the wholething .
Flashlight , soldering magnifying goggles , lamp , clamps , vice , tape , tck putty , tweezers
New in the hobby and love these awesome tutorials and the excellent reviews.Seriously, you could just watch this channel getting into FPV and get everything you need. Going BNF for my first quad but already planning my first build as well. That ports tab wiping config thing is just bad. Just needs to be fixed no excuses :D
Great video
Спасибо друг за ваш труд
Ok i was just getting frustrated at the same time you was 😅😂😅 because i was going to the same problem and you gave me the answer thank you JB.😊
Great video, maybe a side video for crsf setup and what's the recommended firmware these days. And would edge tx cause range issues. Thanks
Hey Joshua I have a questions about remote binding with your kit. Firstly huge thanks for the detailed instructions in your series. I've watched all of it and its given me alot of confidence to go from the casual DJI drones i've been flying to more acrobatic/freestyle drones. My question is can the dji remote 2 work with this build? I read if your using the DJI O3 system, you do not need to use an ELRS receiver as the O3 system has one built in and all you need to do is bind it similar to the Goggles 2 and use Beta flight to bind the buttons appropriately. Is that correct? Just want to make sure I dont accidentally solder things that don't need to do. Thanks again! 👍
Grrreen.

24:00 I really appreciate your attention to detail with terminology in this series.
I’m building fixed wing, but had been finding value in this series, so I bought the kit :)
I’m concerned about finding a battery, any suggestions? I live in US

JB- would a small piece of say copper be a viable shield between the receiver and any other electronic items? I’m thinking mini faraday cage. You would know, I am guessing 😊
can you please do something about all of the adds on your web site? I love and appreciate your videos & information that you provide us with and you have helped me out with a lot of things that i have had issues with
Thank you so much for this entire build series! Just got my Cinelog 35V2 up and running thanks to you! One question i had though, is how do i go about switching between drones? I have a Cinelog 25 V2 i'd like to set up now, but hoping i don't have to re-bind the O3 & the receiver every time? How do you set that up? Tried Googling it, but it keeps thinking i'm asking about AUX switches...lol I have the Boxer radio also.
Thanks in advance!
If you need to update firmware on your ELRS receiver, here's the fastest, easiest way to do it: czcams.com/video/MFFUsN9ZHSU/video.html
Make sure your got your 03s on more than 9v. It could've been me upgrading to elrs and it not talking to the rc anymore but the range difference is wicked. Only moved to 10v.
hey i was wondering if u could help me setup my drone on beta flight?
Amazing videos sir
I need your help, as a am a hobbiest and i have a flysky fsi4 transmitter and Elrs 24t 2.4gh receiver and F405 V3 flight controller is my transmitter and receiver compatible with each other.
kind of a shame the TPU antenna holder doesnt have enough of a recess to allow the ends to come closer together around the plastic hub. it just looks janky with the antenna bursting through. Still functional, but looks slipshot.
I actually didn't use tpu at all on mine. I used the same RX but put it in front under the esc and ran the antenna out front under the camera. I just zip tied the T to the front of the frame. Technically you could do the same thing in the back and skip the weight of the TPU.
@@QuadMcFlyFlies thats what i did . So at low rc signal i turn around and the antenna gets clser and the quad is not between me and the antenna .
The one that came in the kit is entirely different, it opens up from other side so you don't even have to take the antenna off
Do the receivers with a ceramic antenna work as well as the di poles?
Hi
Thank you for the video!!!
I am going to ELRS
I have Radiomaster Boxer
Today i bind the radio with2.4g iflight receiver for my protek 35
It is bind and the switches are set
The problem i got is when i tested the throttle without props. From full throttle it does not goes back it is to the max non stop. Thankfully i have tested it before flight
Do you know what can be the problem the throttle to be stuck to the max without responding?
THANK YOU
It is a lot to cover for the ELRS to get started 😮
How do you bind if you want to controll with dji fpv controller 2, and why do you want to use some thing else? I got a Avata thats why ;)
Hi,
10x for the video.
With every quad should I make a different model every time?
No you can put them all on the same model as long as they're configured the same.
Jerry Seinfeld did say "what's the deal" plenty of times. I looked it up.
do you have any videos on selecting a controller
Hey JB! Im building this rig using the O3. I am having trouble finding a spot with clearance for the Receiver at the rear of the quad. The o3 with the doublesided tape leaves not enough vertical clearance between the top plate and the ELRS RX (i am using the same unit you are in this build). Any tips on appropriate alternatives would he appreciated!!!
Did you ever figure this out? I am also facing issues with the receiver and the top plate
Hi Joshua, thanks for your clear explanation! I have a TBS Tango 2 controller, how can I bind a crossfire receiver to this build?

🙏
joshua bardwell do you have a link to the receiver mount (the 1 for the top of the air unit) as I can't find him on thingyverse. Thanks
Do i need a radio transmitter and receiver if i use the dji fpv controller 2 with the dji o3 system??
You do not, but the setup instructions are not part of this series. Maybe I should do that though.
@@JoshuaBardwellTHANKS JOSHUA🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Please, it would be really helpful. That what I was planning to do with your HD kit.
5:00 but that doesnt match with the wire diagram you showed earlier, the ground had no double pad next to it.
So i guess those recievers in that image was NOT the one you're using.
All ELRS receivers have the same wiring order. The diagram showed one receiver but it doesn't matter that it's not the same as the one I'm using as the wiring is the same.
Where can you get the 3d printed parts
Thanks for the great video series! I have one question though. What about the internal build in receiver of the O3 air unit? I've checked other videos where I got the information that you should cut one cable of the O3 unit so the two different receivers will not cause a conflict. Did I miss this in the video series? The O3 was connected directly to the FC without the need of soldering, was the behavior together with the other Express LRS receiver mentioned? Or do we now have both options in this build? ELRS with the Boxer Remote or the option with some DJI Remote for the O3 build in receiver that shares the channel with Video.. I'm a bit confused.
This video is showing how to use Boxer with ELRS receiver. If you wanted to use the DJI Controller, you can, but you would configure the FC differently.
@@JoshuaBardwellThanks for the reply. I think it goes back to this question in your video: czcams.com/video/-Kb-IeWWKOY/video.htmlsi=EGukZk8ex66TUqMA
I assume there is no conflict in your build and it depends on the beta flight configuration if I want to use the DJI O3 system for everything or utilize the ELRS Receiver with the Boxer (or some other ELRS controller). No need touching the hardware again, its about the software configuration. Thanks for the answer!
Yes correct. Just change the software configuration.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thanks I love to hear that!
Quick question, if both UART’s that are available are used, is there any way to attach a remote ID module like a dronetag bs or dri?
I'm a card carrying member if the U.S. TRUST drone UAS
Ihave recieved no notifications of any new developments . It said free , then after i gave them my name and address etc it was $43 .
(NEED HELP!!!) i just got the radiomaster pocket and im having trouble binding it to my drone.(i just entered into the fpv so im a noob, just finished building my drone
I'm at the start of the recap. my Tx and Rx are wired correctly. but Beta flight isn't showing any input. Any ideas why not, and how could i fix this?
Can someone pls explain me what is ELRS Receiver is for ? And Is it compatable with o3 or how to understand if it's needed ? Im really new to this stuff.
I use this method with the zorro and ep1 but I have to bind it each time I go out and fly??
No. It stays bound after you power cycle.
Thank you very much for all those videos! A patreon
Hi,
I have a problem with a whoop.
The receiver bounds with USB connection to my Boxer BUT when I plug in lipo it does not it is only solid blue.
I found 2 wais to connect it but both are not how a quad should work.
1) Connect with a USB and then put the lipo - it flies
2) Unplug the CRSF port(the receiver is with a plug not soldered), connect the lipo, wait for the beeps and then connect the receiver to the port. Works
Do you know what could be the problem?
Is there a delay start/power for the CRSF port? I gues this will help maybe 3-5seconds deley for the beeping to end and then power the receiver
Quad: T-Mottor Tron 80 HD; Receier - BetaFpv 2.4ghz Nano ELRS; Vista; Radiomaster Boxer ELRS 1w build in
Thank you in advance :) Hope you will have a solution for me
Have a great day :)
I have the Taranis.
Can i use it in "modern" quads?
Yes, you can either get a receiver that works with the built-in protocol (like frsky, you'll have to check what you have built in) or get an ELRS external module for the taranis which i would reccomend because elrs is much better than frsky
@@EagleFPV43 i bought $600 elrs and found out it needs a computer ground station and internet link . So mention that .
will anything change if i do not do these steps and use the dji controller with the o3 air unit instead?
i have this question too
hi there is no link to a receiver we should buy because your kit says that we have to buy a receiver could you let me know what you used in the video
The recommended receivers are listed on the GetFPV product page. This is the one I suggest: www.getfpv.com/happymodel-expresslrs-nano-2-4ghz-ep1-rx.html
Is this kit supposed to have a receiver included? Because mine didn't. I had to buy my own ExpressLRS receiver 🤔
It does not come with a receiver because we wanted to allow for people who already have a different type of controller to supply their own receiver. There is a note to this effect. On the product page but it's easy to miss.
Where is a good place to mount the receiver for the analog build? On top of the exposed analog transmitter doesn't seem ideal. Maybe wrap the transmitter with tape first?
hey i've run into the same problem, just wondering if you've solved this issue?
@@critch214 I've skipped mounting it for now and am working on finishing the rest of the build. Hoping to finish it up in the next week or so and I will come back and let you know what I ended up with.
@@critch214 So I ended up wrapping the receiver in tape like what JB showed in the video and then zip tied it down on top of the transmitter
I’m very sure that I have the wires correct, I even tried swapping them and putting it on another UART. But the channels are not responding
This is not needed when you are meant to use the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 right?
Correct.
how many AWG cable are you using ontthis reciver
Around 26awg
Hi sir, hope u doin well, Just bought your drone kit I'm facing a problem installing gps module, I installed elrs rx to uart 4 and theres no more available uarts for me to add gps module, do I need to upgrade to different flight controller?
The Xilo FC cannot support digital vTX + ELRS RX + GPS. It only has two full UARTs. So you have to change the FC or you have to pick only two of those three. If you are using analog vTX or if you are using FrSky receiver, then you can also use GPS.
I use o3 + elrs, thank u sir
Was looking for this answer as I thought that when I just plug the O3 without soldering, the UART would be available for the RX or GPS 😢
on the digital version, I want to plug a gps. But you used the UART 4 for the recever (Tbs for me). UART 3 is for O3. No more free UART ? I tried to plug recever on Sbus/DSM (Tx1/Rx1) but it doesn t work. What would you suggest ?
There isn't any way to also do a GPS.
@@JoshuaBardwell .Thanks for your answer. And if I remove crossfire module, and use a dji fpv controler V2? will it set the UART 4 free to plug the Gps? .if yes what UART as to bet to serial for the dji controller?
Then UART 1 is SBUS from the O3 unit and UART 4 can be used for GPS.
@@JoshuaBardwell I blinded the RC to the O3, plugged the O3 cables to the FC. Set UART1 to serial in betaflight, connect the Lippo, Nothing happens . Is there something I missed ?
Hey guys,
my movements are mixed up like: throttle is pitch, pitch is throttle? I did everthig like joshua shows us in the video. So how can I change the throttle and the pitch? Roll and yaw are correct when I´m moving the sticks on my radio.
You need to change the channel map in the Receiver tab. This is in a later step of the series.
Hi Joshua, you no longer include a receiver in the kit, leaving it up to us to pick one out. If I go with a dual anentenna, will I have issues with the 3d-printed you include?
The kit never included a receiver, because we don't want to lock you in to a control link that you might not use.
If you use a different receiver, you may need to use a different antenna mount.
@@JoshuaBardwell Sounds good, thanks. For the first build I will stick with a single antenna, make it as close to yours as possible to avoid any unnecessary hiccups.
If I am running an 03, do I need this step?
If you are using a DJI RC Controller V2 bound to the O3, then you wouldn't do this step. But that setup is not in this tutorial. If you are using an ELRS controller with ELRS receiver, then you do this step.
wait so does RX Always go to TX and TX always go to RX?
Yes, pretty much. There are some rare cases where TX goes to TX but they are the exception not the rule.
I DO THE STEP BY STEP AND WHEN I ENTER BETAFLIGHT CONFIG IT DOES NOT ACTIVATE THE GRAPHIC BARS MY RADIO IS A RADIOMASTER ZORRO
hey my kit didnt come with the 3d printed parts, where can we get those?
Contact support@getfpv.com
I really wish there was just a silver version of this frame. Not digging the purple. Clashes with my usual blue/orange scheme
20:41 Does anyone else hear it 💀😭
I did all of this but im getting no stick responses in betaflight ive been trying to figure it out for almost 5 days
Ever found a fix for it
@@mynamejev2489 yeah I figured it out I forgot what it’s called on beta flight and I’m not home right now but I’ll share when I get back in a few days
What uart would I use if I wanted to use csrf nano rx instead of the supplied elrs rx?
The wiring would be identical. ELRS and CRSF have identical pinout.
Why it will never fly
Who is a professional drone builder I can pay to build me a custom drone or finish my build I will pay what it cost to finish.spent to much money and drone won't fly only rtf for me from now on
I like you showing me how the sausage is made, Josh......
I like your "gRRReen = RRRReceiver on FC" convention.
However, it's not green, it's teal.
T-eal, T-ransmit. R-oyal blue. R-eciever. (also R as in reciever and B as in blue look very similar, RB BR).
Enjoy.
Not clever. lol
