My patience with cinema goers have reached an all time low. 15 yrs ago no one would make a sound and if they did they would feel like complete twats. Now no one cares. It's funny to laugh out loud, fart, cough sneeze every 2 seconds and so on. Fuck the cinema!
More reasons to stay home and enjoy streaming movies on Netflix with your home theatre system! No wonder the theatre chains are now offering $25 21+ seats that offer big chairs and serves alcohol.
I can simplify this: 1) Eat, drink and take a dump before going anywhere near the cinema. If you can't control your bowels, your bladder, or your appetite, stay at home. 2) Turn your phone off of don't take it at all. You won't miss anything important. You will miss the film, which renders going to the cinema pointless in the first place. 3) When in the theatre, once the film starts, STFU :) Simple :)
Addendum to the armrest rule: don't take two armrests. Also, if the armrests have cup-holders, the owner of the beverage in the holder has total sovereignty over said armrest.
Rwaat Plus knowing what happens, and experiencing what happens are two different johns all together. FOR EXAMPLE- my older cousin told me that Darth Vader was Luke's father when I was little. Did this ruin my movie experience? No, because experiencing that glorious scene was absolutely amazing and my foreknowledge of it didn't hinder me in the slightest. HOWEVER there are times when knowing the twist does ruin the movie, but that's usually when the twist is the best part. If a movie needs to rely solely on surprising movie-goers rather than clever plot or characters, its not that good a movie. This has been a 24 year old weirdo writing on a comment section! This NEEDS to be played before every movie (not before the previews. After the Previews and before the movie) that shows at the theater in my town. God do I hate having to go there most of the time!
Arthouse/family-operated theaters could replace it with a statement reading "Most of the ticket money goes to Hollywood. Please support this theater by visiting our concession stand."
That's not airplane armrest etiquette. In a row of three, isle gets the isle-facing armrest, window gets the wall (which sometimes comes with an armrest), and middle gets both armrests because it's not as convenient as isle and no wall to sleep on.
To be honest I mastered the art of sharing an armrest. I will make sure my elbow is far enough towards the front that the other person can put their arm further down the armrest too.
In part two, don't throw popcorn at strangers, don't put your feet on the person in front of you, do go to the bathroom for bottom coughs and never eat candy off the floor! Great Job Guys

It would definitely be good idea for chip eaters if they opened it outside an put it in a plastic bag. It would make eating chips at the movies much better for everyone.
As a tall person, I always do my best to sit in the very back of the theater so I don't block anyone's view. If I can't go all the way back, I try to at least sit in front of someone who is taller than I and can see over my head.
I can deal with most annoying people at the movies. But the worst are those who during a sad scene are laughing and talking. And those who are texting! I don't want to see your bright screen in the darkness because its like having an itch I can't get rid of. And then I end up looking away from the screen for a few seconds and forgot what was going on. If you want to text, or talk to someone, or you want to bring your annoying kids... go to something where noise and annoying people is fine like Chuck E Cheese or the mall. I do realize sometimes you can't always get someone to watch your kid, so you bring them to the movie. But the better plan is stay home then and go see the movie another time. With the price of tickets I want my movie to blow me away. Your kid crying all the time distracts me. I would never do it to you.

You forgot the rule about not bringing kids to movies that aren't appropriate for their age (which could be an addendum to the baby rule). Let's just say that I went to see Jurassic World last summer and low and behold, some family thought that movie was appropriate for their 5-year-old girl. At first she was talking loudly over the movie, and then the dinosaurs started eating people and all we could hear was screaming and crying until they finally gave up and left.
That happened to me, too. There was this one time when I went to see “Alita: Battle Angel” and that guy had his phone out and I told him to turn that phone off because I was trying to pay attention to the movie, and he told me to “shut the #### up”. I was like “Alright, fair enough”, but he should’ve known that phones are not allowed at the movies, ever!
Went to a rifftrax movie. There was misery when some of the patrons apparently refuse to use certain substances on principle.......namely deodorant, toothpaste, soap, or water. They smelled like burning cat houses.

That sucks, Where I live you are just given a ticket for the screening. You find a seat you want and if a small person sits behind you, tough luck for them, they knew you were tall, they chose to sit there.

Slouching down sounds like a nice idea at first, but there are two problems with that. A) Space. You cannot magically shrink, your body has to go somewhere, and we all know that there is approximately between zero and minus five leg space in theatres. You are physically blocked from sliding down any. B) OW. OW. OW. OW. OW. Being tall in itself means you're already doomed to a life of back-, neck-, shoulder-, knee-, and just-about-everything-else-pain. Making those people slouch down and crumple up their bodies for up to three hours straight is effectively torture.
When I saw the start of the dawn of the return of the planet of the apes of the future, someone brought in a bundle of hate that wouldn't shut up for the first 15minutes and then their was another toddler that kept yelling MONKEY!! But then when some of the scarier parts came on the first baby starting non stop crying and they finally left. I know that people want to watch movies,but preplan to leave your baby somewhere first. I asked my parents how I was at the theater and they said I was always quiet(I was the baby they would take to symphonies). But also don't take your child into a movie were they will be frightened!

The only thing worse than a baby is its parents. Are they really trying to shush the kid? Maybe not. Did they do anything to keep the kid from crying? The woman behind me felt compelled to repeat the same phrase over and over to her clearly uninterested kid for the 1 hour it took to get above 10,000 ft. where I could leagally try to drown them out with a movie. ("First we're going to go real *slow*, then we're going to go real *fast*, and then were going to *fly!!* over 150 times.) After that the kid started to bang on the back of my seat, which the mom barely noticed at all. After we landed whe went back to baby-talking the entire way to the gate. Thanks.

Zoe Papillon Ponyo. (and all other miyazaki films) are family movies not kids movies. They're movies that are meant to be enjoyed with a whole family (which they all are very enjoyable) not just the kids like most "kids" movies
I love this video; I can definitely relate to this. We were watching "The Book of Life" yesterday when a little girl decided to sit by me, getting into my personal space. She was sitting FAR AWAY from her parents. It really bothered me. Thankfully, her dad came over and had her sit by them again. Apparently, some parents need to watch their kids closely now. Some other kids would transition from step to step during the movie as well.
I've actually been to a couple movies on opening night, and besides my date, we were the only 2 people in the theater. The shot for shot remake of Psycho, and Jacob the Liar.
It's not my fucking fault that I am tall, why do I have to scooch down and be even more uncomfortable than I already am with that little leg space I get
Then try to sit somewhere out of the way. Its not other peoples fault that they are shorter than you are, but you being mildly uncomfortable is better than their entire watching experience being ruined.
You don't have to a scooch just sit towards the back or if it's crowded ask politely to switch so you don't block anyone's view and they can take your now unblocking seat that would have blocked someone's view.

I love this video; I can definitely relate to this. We were watching "The Book of Life" yesterday when a little girl decided to sit by me, getting into my personal space. She was sitting FAR AWAY from her parents. It really bothered me. Thankfully, her dad came over and had her sit by them again. Apparently, some parents need to watch their kids closely now. Some other kids would transition from step to step during the movie as well.

Then try to sit somewhere out of the way. Its not other peoples fault that they are shorter than you are, but you being mildly uncomfortable is better than their entire watching experience being ruined.
I'm tall and I sit in the top row if at all possible... Just shows some consideration for other people...
sit in an aisle seat, you get more legroom and you're not blocking someone else's view.
You don't have to a scooch just sit towards the back or if it's crowded ask politely to switch so you don't block anyone's view and they can take your now unblocking seat that would have blocked someone's view.
Try sitting in the back row. You would only be sitting in front of a wall if you sit in the back.
