This is what I actually what I needed. A kick in the butt! I’m not an alcoholic but, I am a social drinker. Most of friends drinks and even my husband drinks. We drink together at home. but, lately I’ve been heavily convicted on this topic. I feel the need to stop drinking for good. A part of me feels like I’m going to miss out but, I’m so tired living lukewarm. I get so upset with myself because I let my flesh win every time. Y’all pray for me because I’m going to need to continue my walk with the Lord.

@@3rddimensionalphysical44 You are not sticking to the topic. I said that people could have gotten drunk on that wine, and therefore it was not just grape juice. I would also rather drink the wine on His day compared to this one. Are we living in His day? Or do we have to use what is available to us now? It still was wine that was fermented, don’t doubt it. Because the fact that people could have become drunk on their wine, it was fermented.

At my daughter's & son in law's wedding no alcohol was served. Guest came up to us to say thank you that no alcohol was served. Well I told them it's against our Christian principles. Today they still talking about the best wedding they ever attended. No one got drunk on drinking beverages, coffees and teas. Our guest got home safe and sound. We took our stand by not serving alcohol. We choose to please God and not people.

WRONG. There is nothing wrong with drinking to enjoy it. Alcohol (real alcohol - not grape juice) - is everywhere in the Bible. Proverbs 31:6 - "Give strong drink to those that are in sorrow, and the wine to drink to those in pain.". Anyone teaching against it and making up false commandments is teaching against God's word. Just don't take it too far or get addicted. "Adding to" the word of God is expressly forbidden by it. - Alcohol is NOT commanded against in scripture! PORK AND SHELLFISH ARE, in Leviticus 11!!!

@@revolutionunderground Proverbs 31:6 (KJV) Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
This is about fermented alcohol for sure. A mother is telling her son that fermented wine is not for kings. Give that to the person who is dying or depressed.
Basically it is telling you not to drink..
You are a king if you are saved. Jesus is the King of Kings. Leave the alcohol for the bums at the bar.
Do you have another verse? This one is condemning it. Negative light.

Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense. It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak. Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin. We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.

I’ve been sober for six months now, I started drinking at 13 yrs of age, I’m now 60!
I became a Christian in 1989, it’s only the last 6 months I have truly had a relationship with my lord and saviour, I wake up every morning and can’t wait to read my bible and spend time in prayer, if I went back to alcohol I would loose my relationship with my saviour, that would break my heart ,and for that reason I will never drink alcohol again. I wish I could go into more detail about why I stopped and what alcohol did to me over the years, but for now I would like to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ who struggle with alcohol ,you can beat it , put your trust in the lord, life is so much better when you are sober.

I was coping with life with truley seltzers. I wanted to stop but still asked so I asked God to show me why he doesn’t want us to drink. I drank 2 small truleys that night and went to sleep. When I woke up that morning I had an extreme hangover which I would never get from 2 trulys. I was physically able to ACTIVELY FEEL A LIVING BREATHING DEMON ON MY BACK. It was very heavy and weighed me down as well as the reason for the hangover sickness. I could feel this thing breathing. I said to God thank you for showing me and I repented.
I had always found it difficult to pray for days after I drank. I knew immediately that it was demonic and a demon is completely behind alcoholism. Only the devil doesn’t want you to pray. I’ve touched alcohol twice since that day oct 21 and both times I repent and asked God for self control. All addictions have a demon behind them so practice self control and know that Jesus will HELP YOU IN YOUR BATTLE!!

I learned to drink alcohol not when I was in the world although I lived through many generations of mental illness & my late father was an alcoholic, but I learned to drink as a Christian with other Christians thinking it was a normal part of socializing at parties & Church gatherings but what started as an 'innocent drink' here & there soon became a stronghold as I realized it encourages uninhibited behaviour manic laughter in myself I already had a depressed paranoid & anxious mental state & when the effects of the alcohol wore off this made all of these problems ten times worse, it got so bad that I was drinking alone at home progressing from 2 glasses of wine to whole mini bottle & stronger spirits just to numb the pain already in myself instead of seeking deliverance I got to the point where I was vomiting blood & experienced heart palpitations I decided one day after hearing Isaiah Saldivars testimony that I had enough so felt a lifting after the prayer he did & haven't drink for over 2 years now all Glory to God 🙏 & after all I've been through in my life of anorexia bulimia & severe mental & physical disabilities I can't afford to lose anymore brain cells.

Years ago, I read a study on alcoholism about how this problem affected different people groups. The great surprise was that the group with the highest percentage of alcoholics was a conservative evangelical denomination that forbids the drinking of any kind of alcohol. Just as surprising was the finding that the people group who had the lowest percentage of alcoholics were the Jews who drink freely. Over the years, other similar findings have been found, highlighting a biblical truth that the Apostle Paul wrote in I Corinthians 15:56: “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.”
    .
We do not use science to establish theology, but sometimes it confirms it. Legalism tends to work the opposite of its intended result, actually empowering sin, and will never be the antidote to lawlessness. Of course, the entire U.S. learned this under prohibition. Not only did the drinking in America continue under prohibition, but it increased, as well as other crimes. Prohibition made criminals out of otherwise law-abiding citizens, which seemed to just open them up to all sorts of crime and disregard for the law. We can put people in jail so that they do not sin, but this will never take the sin out of their hearts.
    .
I am not trying to promote drinking, but I am careful not to add laws that exceed the biblical commandments. It is not only counterproductive in dealing with the problem, but it makes hypocrites out of good moral people. We must throw off the tyranny of legalism that is unnecessarily causing many to stumble.
    .
I have attended Jewish events and weddings where there were always open bars, but I do not ever remember seeing anyone even tipsy. There is the freedom to drink, but also a culture of moderation. The church is supposed to be a culture of LIBERTY because we are told “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (see II Corinthians 3:17). Moderation can be a far more powerful witness than abstinence. Abstinence can imply weakness and a lack of self-control.
However, people who lack self-control and have excessive and compulsive personalities do not need to drink at all. As the Word also teaches that those who have liberty in certain things should show restraint when they are with those who are weak. It is far worse to ever cause anyone to stumble. We need to be committed to this restraint while also refusing to act in an subservient manner toward legalism.
    .
Jesus had remarkable grace toward sinners but had no tolerance for the self-righteous or for the legalists. If the church had the same Spirit as Christ, sinners would be rushing to the doors of the church for help instead of being repelled by it. We often quote how we love the sinners but hate the sin. However, far too many sinners are despised when they meet Christians. This is not the demeanor of the whole church, but there is far too much self-righteousness, which only repels sinners who need Jesus. It was not the sinners, but the self-righteous who persecuted Jesus and then had Him crucified.
    .
Of course, there is a ditch on either side of the path of life- lawlessness on one side and legalism on the other. Many who fall into a ditch on one side overreact and then fall into the opposite ditch. Moderation is the key to staying in the middle of the path of life. This is why we are told in Philippians 4:5, “Let your moderation be known unto all men” (KJV).
    .
I lean toward the side of liberty out of the theological conviction of what the New Testament teaches. Those who have a tendency toward lawlessness may need to lean toward more discipline. Those prone toward legalism may need to lean a little bit the other way. Even so, our goal should be to walk down the center of the road.
    .
The Church must get free of the concepts that distort the love and liberty we've been given. My goal is to know the voice of the Lord and follow Him, not just methods, formulas, and laws.

I agree, the point of the wedding that Jesus attended was not to substitute grape juice for Wine, the comment was that you normally bring out the best Wine at the beginning of the wedding and after the guests were drunk you could bring out the wine that was not very good and the guests would not notice because they were drunk, but Jesus created the best Wine last, implying that it was alcoholic Wine in the normal sense, not grape juice. And Timothy was told to have a little wine for his stomach, I doubt that grape juice would have done him any good. The Bible says:”do not get drunk with Wine”, Ephesians 5:18, I agree totally. It doesn’t say not to drink at all but not to get drunk. I used to drink and get drunk before I was a Christian but as a Christian I have never had any problems with drinking at all. I don’t drink and get drunk but depending upon the circumstances I will have a drink. We used to have wine with the bread on Sunday and grape juice for those who did not want Wine but they abandoned the Wine and I am not sure that they ever use grape juice anymore, I think it is just cordial. They don’t break bread anymore, they cut it into little cubes about the size of sugar cubes, they never use unleavened bread. Everything is compromise and that is how Churches slide down into eventual unbelief. I don’t know anywhere that obedience to Gods Word is practiced without compromise or I would go there, I think it is just another indication that we are going home soon. God Bless. Ps if you have been truly set free from alcoholism, it would mean that you can live without any fear of being tempted and a sip of Wine on Sunday should not cause you any problems , I honestly believe that the Wine that Jesus poured out at the last Supper was real Wine in the normal sense of the word, not grape juice. I have no problem if people prefer to have grape juice as long as they don’t leave me with no choice, I would also prefer unleavened bread in accordance with what our Lord instructed us to do until He comes and takes us home.

The Pharisees made stricter rules than God gave, to help them be sure not to transgress. But the rules never took care of the root problem.
Have you ever noticed teetotaler churches tend to have big potlucks at which gluttony is regularly indulged in?
The rules that say, "touch not, taste not, handle not" don't deal with indulgence of the flesh.
God never said stop eating, but he said not to be gluttonous.
God never said stop drinking alcohol, but he said not to be drunk.
Jesus said beware of the leaven of the Pharisees.
Because the Pharisee approach can sneak into a Christian's mind, where he starts to think he's a better person if he goes above and beyond God's commands... and he starts to look around, comparing himself with those who don't keep the rules he does... and he starts to puff up... just like bread rising.

I don’t think that the wine back then had a lesser alcohol content, I’ve heard that theory but I doubt that it was any different than today I did hear they mixed water in it or something but I’m sure their drinking of it wasn’t much different then our use of it today. They probably had the option of mixing it with water. But we are talking about Israel, and they did have a higher religious standard than other areas around them. But they also engaged in a lot of the practices of the people around them as well, something God had warned them against many times. The New Testament says to not be drunk on wine, because it interferes with our ability to be full of the Spirit, and there are still many Christian’s who do not even understand yet that they have the ability to be Spirit filled. When you find this, you won’t want wine anymore that’s how good it is to be full of the Lord. we are vessels who were made for this purpose, and it is why Jesus died for us, we are what He died for, so we could be saved and know Him. it doesn’t say anywhere in the Bible “do not drink it’’. It says “do not commit adultry, do not kill, do not covet what belongs to your neighbor”. There is another verse in the Old Testament that says ‘not to gaze on wine or beer in the cup’ meaning to not be enamored with it or overtaken with it we basically don’t want to put anything in the place of God in our lives. The New Testament mentions being drunk on wine as a direct variant to being filled with the spirit, just because we can’t be both at the same time. It does not list this as a salvation issue and I would not think it was, in my opinion. It says do not become drunk on wine but rather be filled with the Holy Spirit.

You are correct I believe in some of the common drink produced, but not completely because even the old testament referred to drinking strong drink and mixing strong drink to drunkenness' that would be impossible to achieve at mixtures of "near beer 3% or less" I suspect your info came from a good Christian author of a tome entitled "Laws of Fermentation". A common practice in the time of Jesus was to mix strong wine with water to beer strength or less to make the water safe and forestall or avoid drunkenness. The only other way to reliably make water safe was to boil it.

Anything that opens up a door to the enemy should be rejected and shunned. The devil is deceitful and crafty and will use any and everything to hinder our relationship with Jesus. It depends. The Bible is clear that no drunkards will enter the kingdom. So if you drink to get drunk, you can't control yourself or are an alcoholic then I'd say it's definitely sinful. However my biggest rebuttal to anyone who would claim it's sinful period is to remind them that Jesus turned water into wine. The reason why I say this is because Jesus Christ was and is the perfect son of God who knows no sin. God and lord Jesus in their perfect nature would not only never sin themselves, but they would never condone, facilitate or encourage anyone to sin. The Bible says God himself does not tempt us with sin. Having said that, ever heard the term, "guilty by association?" That means that if you enabled, encouraged or took part in that sin in any way even if you didn't commit the actual sin, then you are guilty of it by association. Guilty by helping to make it happen. Now what did Jesus do besides display his power and divinity when he turned the water into wine? He enabled the further consumption of alcohol. If consumption of alcohol was sinful period, would Jesus have done that? I don't think so because Jesus in his perfect nature knows no sin, hates sin and condemns all sin. He would not have have facilitated the further consumption of alcohol If it was indeed sinful. He would've condemned it, but he didn't.

My thoughts exactly. I also believe it’s not for everyone though lest it leads them to sin. Not everyone is discipline enough and the devil would use them through it. I had a friend who had demons manifesting when he gets drunk. He simply couldn’t stop or had the discipline to stop. I won’t lie that I drink wine sometimes but I know when to stop. One or 2 glasses occasionally. If I be judged so be it. Jesus turned water to wine period. No excuse to get drunk though

This was a very powerful and well presented lesson. I was so happy to listen and learn cause this is a very big issue amongst a lot of professing Christians and I have seen the damage that alcohol causes in my own life, my family and in the body of Christ. I was raised in a Christian home and I know for sure that my late Mother never drank but my dad would take a "sip" every now and then. I started to drink after I met my late husband and after my late Mother passed away, I started drinking very heavily. It all came to a head when I got drunk, called my husband on the phone and cussed him out! I don't cuss and he taped the entire conversation, played it back to me the next day,(I was still hungover) and I was so ashamed of myself. He was a marine and he cried too and told me that he had never ever heard me talk or act like that. He was right and that day I vowed that I would never get drunk ( I didn't totally give up drinking until some years later) ever again. Well, I went some years being sober but after my late husband passed away, I started back drinking for a few years but as of 2022, I have given it up correctly. I have 2 family members who drink and I had to call the police on him the day before Easter cause he was cussing out our father and was just out of control. I know this is lengthy but I just had to share. God continue to bless you Vlad as you bring and speak the truth of God's word. 😌😌😇

ALCOHOLIC WINE ASSOCIATED WITH EVIL. “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:22). It is undeniable, and statistically proven that alcohol is the root cause of the majority of crimes against society such as road accidents, rapes, murders, broken homes, poverty, and divorces. It brings misery and shame to all those who become addicted to it. Abstain means “hold ones self from”. Since alcohol is associated with evil, the Christian must abstain from it.

@@Livingmybestlife887 the bible says nowhere that alcohol or drinking alcohol its evil its more about being without control and doing everything in excess. Its the same with money, some people twist it and say money is evil but its wrong, it clearly says the love of money. So you do not have to feel bad if you work and you make legit money and the same goes for drinking, there is nothing wrong with it to have a drink once in a while especially if you do not drink to get drunk or do some nasty stuff. There are a lot of hard working people who love to have a drink after work with their coworkers or whatnot. When i had my business i would go out with my employees and we would eat and have one or two beer. Most people can't control themselves that is why the bible warns for many things. If you have self control you do not have a problem.

Thanks for this well-balanced presentation. Unlike you, I grew up with a father who drank very moderately most of the time, but could drink quite a bit more in social settings, albeit without ever showing any signs of drunkenness. However, he had 3 brothers who were alcoholics, including 2 who died young because of it.
My mother never drank alcohol at all as she was afraid of health consequences. Ironically, she died aged 70 from liver cancer.
At 70 years of age, I've been a very moderate drinker for about 6 years. However, before that, I was an alcohol abuser, so I've experienced all the bad things you mentioned about alcohol, including a car crash in which I sustained injuries that were relatively minor, thanks be to God, and to my very strong physical frame.
In moderation, alcohol can deliver a lot of benefits, such as mood enhancement, but in excess, it takes them away again with a vengeance. I now drink only on Fridays and Saturdays, only at night, and mostly at home before bed. 2 shots of whisky washed down with a pint of light beer on each night. As I weigh over 200 pounds, it scarcely has any effect at all, other than to relax me in body and mind. If everyone had the discipline which experience has taught me, I don't think you'd have anything against drinking.
