All of 2 Samuel 22 is awesome in the King James 1611 original version. But this verse should encourage the people who GOD created with their specific gifts and talents to perform what HE has called them to be and do concerning warfare and being a good soldier. 2Samuel 22:35 HE teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.” 2Timothy 2:3-7 “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please HIM WHO hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. Consider what I say; and the LORD give thee understanding in all things.”

When discipline is part of the expectation and is egalitarian in nature. With the added value of self discipline drilled in as second nature over arduous activities and training techniques... the morale and esprit de corps is elevated to very high level. This is only achieved when certain other issues such as confidence in leadership is attained. As these factors work together truly elite units are forged. As these qualities are recognized and programs, standards and culture are maintained over time. The results speak for themselves. I would rather have a highly confident competent team with exceptional discipline and morale... even if we lost all of our equipment on the drop... or are standing around when something happens... If the other team is fearful incompetent with low morale and discipline. LOL... or just the right opportunity exists... enemy paratroopers falling from the sky onto base... lol hopefully I can position myself under a heavy weapons guy and spot the RTO to collect their comms and intel... they get to bounce extra times on this landing! LOL Self confidence, initiative, high morale, good discipline, competent professionalism... with those qualities opportunities will present themselves. It is one thing to talk about what discipline looks like, or how to word what discipline is and another to explain *how* discipline works. An example: you can help make a disciplined dog and a discipline human. But not both of these can be a discipline mathematician. That should be explainable. So too should be the dynamics and neurological mechanics of discipline generally.

Someone please answer this question. Taking the philosophy of "EXTREME OWNERSHIP" does that make Jocko at least partially responsible for that lie and total waste of money and lives that was the Iraq War. If Jocko did not volunteer to serve AFTER it became known that the war was based on lies (WMD's anyone) and was not about "Freedom" or 9-11. Jocko still art some point after that raised his hand to re-enlist and went to Iraq and fought in the war.
