    I remember MAN in the mid 1970's in Australia, 9215NC and 7215NC, best was the cab over model of that era with the column shift, it road so smooth, like a luxury car. Also spotted quite a few in the Middle East during the 1980's along with Berliet and Saviem. IPEC (Interstate Parcel Express Company) had a large fleet of MAN cab overs in Australia during the 1970's with pantechs. I see one truck "ROMAN" on the grille, in the Middle East I seen a few with "RABA" on the grille of MAN trucks. Great to see an Australia MAN at 7:03 mark. Looks like the cab over version was more popular in the UK than the bonneted models. Enjoyed that, thank you.

    Brilliant footage, Drove a 18.372 wagon and drag for BRS, then a 19.462 on European work, then a 26.464 on Euro work all fantastic trucks, the 26.464 Roadhaus was king of the Alps at the time in my opinion, i now drive a 26.640 TGX Lion S had different makes in between, but still like the MAN 💪👍👍😀😀

    Those F90 MANs were often fitted with the Eaton Twin Splitter gearbox, probably the best engine gearbox combo of all time, the rapid increase and decrease of revs from those free revving engines resulted in lightning quick gearshifts.
    Allegedly they could cruise at 95mph if one so wished.

    I remember the 232 of the '70s and its column change 9 and 13 speed box. Easy to get used to since many cars at that time had column change. The worst thing about the MAN at that time, the tyres used to last longer than the cabs!

    Drove a 16-232 in the late seventies. Column gear change, six speed with a splitter. Not the most powerful truck but reliable with a handy second bunk.

      First MAN i drove too, for some reason i recall the column change box being a 13 speed Fuller? maybe different boxes could be specified or is my memory getting worse, if thats possible.
      Tough motors.

      @@lewlewis6511 hello there fellows , if my memory serves me right the 16 -232 had a ZFgearbox 6 speed with a splitter box and the 16 280 had fuller gearbox 13 speed with a floor shift , i didnt really like the colum change , they were good trucks in thier day ,, but the F88 with a 290 hp engine had the edge 8 speed with a splitter thank you

      @Vanrides. Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@johnnoonan5802 yes you are correct,ZF box. My 16.240 with floor change also had a ZF box. A few years later drove a 16.321 that was a flyer with a 13 sp fuller. The only problem was if the cab torsion bars snapped it was a three man job to tilt the cab. Good trucks though those MANs from the seventies through to the early eighties.
