- The Recording Academy Chicago Chapter is shining a light on Songwriters & Composers to recognize their unique experiences as creatives in the Midwest music community.
In July 1961, the Recording Academy opened its doors in Chicago as the third Chapter after New York and L.A.
Not only did the Chapter represent Chicago recording artists, but those from across the Midwest.
Today, the Chicago Chapter represents 650+ members across 12 states - Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
