      Glory to God.
      Pastor please does it mean God doesn't speak to people any more, just interpretation of what is written?

    • @mabeladdai399
      @mabeladdai399 Před 21 dnem +1

      Agree with all he said. However I am kind of scratching my head on the last part where he said preaching is not speaking the word of God but rather interpretating. If someone is rightly dividing the word, is it not the truth being spoken and therefore the right word of God? The Bible mentions how the word of God by the Spirit was spoken through people. How about that?

      @ebenezeradjei3319 Před 20 dny +1

      @@mabeladdai399 Hello I believe your own question gives answer to what your concern is. If you say rightly dividing the Word of Truth as the Scripture says, what does that mean? To rightly divide the Word of Truth is to give the right & correct or sound interpretation to the Word of God. And if you are giving the right & correct or sound interpretation to the word of God, it is not the Word of God you are repeating. You are giving the interpretation for proper understanding. The infallible Word of God is what Scripture has quoted or is written in the volumes of the Book - Bible.

    What I didn't understand initially is when he says "when we preach we ain't preaching the word of God but rather interpreting the word of God." Upon second thought, I get his drive. Now, ministers preach and want what they say to be taken as though it carries equal authority as the bible. So if we understand whatever a preacher preaches isn't the word of God in itself, then we'll be safe from my "man of God says, and so it is". We will rather ask the question, 'is this what the word of God meant to say?'. Ps. Otabil is one of the preachers I don't get tired listening to. May God preserve him to be faithful to the word till the end. He's such a gift to the church in this generation. God bless you richly Ps. Gideon. You're doing so much.

      You're right! Have you noticed that when you read the scriptures and hear some MOGs read and preach that same scripture you've read you begin to wonder if what you understood and what he's saying has any relation? Sometimes when I hear them I ask God, "God, what this man is saying, is that what you really meant?". And some will always tell you don't take the scriptures literally.

    Pastor Otabil's concerns are justified! Problems with our African Christinity is that so many occultists and idolators have set themselves up in ministry and are busy recruiting for satan and making money. We also have problems with believers who have spiritual gifts but do not know bible doctrines well. Added to the above are well educated believers who have no pastoral training who occasionally make doctrinal doctrinal errors authoritatively that go to destroy all the vast good they did before. Added to our woes is the category of old time preachers in churches who stopped studying the word of God and are stuck with only one way understanding of the bible! Prayer will help us but humily to attend bible courses no matter our how high our circular education is, and constant personal bible study will help us. God bless you, Pasor Gideon!

In this series of videos he taught brilliantly without belittling any preacher or mocking anybody's message. He presents his message with humility and respect for all. The whole Video is spot on. I am going straight to watch the full message. We as believers should understand that God is not giving any new revelation today that could even measure or be compared to scripture. These things that sound deep are ancient heresies which have been dumped a long time ago. But because we are ignorant of church history it sounds insightful.
    The African church is very spiritist that is why we always want to see manifestations to believe, we like to see the supernatural. I also like how he said the charismatic movement is the easiest to derail from biblical Christianity. I believe it is a fact. I am what could be called Pentecostal or charismatic but I believe there are a lot done and preached in these circles that are not biblical.
    We need to do better, more diligent with scriptures. But no, we like Power and demonstrations.
    May the Lord help us all 🙏🏾

    Heresies have been perpetuated since time immemorial and will coninue to be here with us. That is why the body of Christ needs discernment (knowledge), to distiguish between biblical sound doctrines and human philosophies, as well as differentiate between our foundational belief in spiritual truths and the practice of spiritism.

  • @samueladu4597
    @samueladu4597 Před 21 dnem +10

    Sound and profound message but there are other areas I wish he tackles in this conference. As much as spiritism of the church is a great concern, the politicization and moneytisation in the church is a big deal too. Especially in Ghana and Africa or he sees nothing wrong about that.
    Some years back in Pastor Otabil's program here in Accra Ghana, offerings for prayers were raised in thousands of dollars, in a manner that was as frightening as he sees spiritism in the African church. That act from his church was picked by the media and became a huge problem for Christianity in Ghana and Africa. What did he do about... Still asking
    This is my gentle reminder to Pastor Otabil. As he see spiritism in the African church as a worrying situation, others also see moneytisation and politicization as lethal one.
    I hope he touches those area as well. Shalom

    My only departure is the fact that he stresses we don't preach the word of God, I think he is positioning his point in order to argue that every man of God is challengeable. As honest as this may seem, it also means we don't have inspired men in the pulpit who could preach messages given to them by God directly for his flock according to the needs of the flock at a particular time. God has already spoken, yes!!, but he continues to speak. Does it mean everything that proceed from the pulpit is the word of God? No! That is why the Berean lens is recommended. Verify every sermon, and apply that which aligns with scripture, with that, you will be able to confirm if the preacher has preached the word of God or not. My conclusion, men of God preach the word of God, but this can be proven after one has done a careful study and also measured the extent to which the sermon affects their lives. The word of the God is living and powerful, so it must speak to our current situation and most importantly align with the bible. If these condition precedents are met, you surely heard the word of God from the pulpit and not merely an interpretation.

      @emeraldquashie9356 Před 21 dnem +4

      What he said is perfectly alright. No preacher words are infallible. The only basis of authority must be the scriptures. He is spot on. He’s addressing the canker that’s eaten the church. Every man of God words are challengeable, they are not God.

    • @mabeladdai399
      @mabeladdai399 Před 21 dnem

      Agreed with your point. However remember that the Bible said we should preach in season and out of saeson. So if a sermon doesn't speak to the needs or situation of a flock directly or currently, it will do so in future or perhaps it spoke to another person, so it makes it valid irrespective as long as it is the true word of God.

      There's a difference between prophecy and preaching. Prophecy is inspired while preaching is not always inspired. Preaching involves the intellect that's why we are required to read and prove ourselves in scripture.

    Trying to find out what God meant!!! Awesome! My oh my! What wisdom! I don't even know what to say. This is the most eye-opening teaching I have ever heard with my ears..... It's just like prophecy. .... If we say "thou sayest the Lord, we can't judge it. But prophecies are meant to be diced and judged if they line up with the Word of God.

    Sir,you are correct but incomplete . God speaks to His preachers through His holy spirit till now, at this dispensation God does nothing but revealing of secrets to His servants whom He has called and chosen.

    God is always in Control. There's always a remnant. There are still congregations here that preach Christ alone.. only few true Christians attend such places. We are in the last days and Jesus warned us. The love of many for the Truth will wax cold.

    This man is a good lecturer.
    I wish I could hear him teach on the Holy Spirit and Jesus.
    In all his lectures he didn’t mention the Holy Spirit once, yet that is the main objective of Jesus; bring the Holy Spirit to the world

    If Christianity is not spiritism then why did Jesus Christ allow the Holy Spirit to come in our time? How do we worship God in spirit and truth? I believe God in His own wisdom knows the reason for the Charismatism movement immege in Africa. We can attest to the fact that idols worship in Africa has really caused a lot of spiritual damage to many families and individuals life. It's through the grace and the mercies of God that the power of the Holy Spirit is working through men to break altars and set people free from bandage. God is still speaking and giving revelation to His people. I understand his point of view because he is a teacher. How God deals with a teacher might not be the same as how He deals with an Apostles, Prophets Evangelist etc. What we are experiencing in our time now is part of the end time prophecies that Christ Jesus prophesied about. I believe every Church should have the five fold ministries within so that the sheep can be fed well. Christ finishes everything on the cross for us but He wants us to demonstrate His power and not just only talking. What does Joel 2:28 say?
    Romans 14:17
    1 Corinthians 4:20

      You are confusing spirituality with spiritism. He has not said spiritually is wrong

  • @kuntu1943

    Beautiful presentation and education but this tangent also always leads to an entrenched position where one debunks spirituality. And he proved my suspicion 39:35, so from that I can say Otabil believes God doesn't speak to us like he did in the days of the prophets, because he has already spoken and it's well documented for us in the Bible which is partly true. Next thing you'll likely here from him is Miracles are over because we have very good medical innovations and hospitals. And that will be nothing but the good old Calvinism and cessationism arguments on the lips of a good preacher who is very concerned about the excesses. And that is throwing the baby with the bath water
    If you're reading this, hold on to your spirituality and lean towards that which aligns with the word of God. Do not deny the power of God. Peace be unto you.

      He never said God doesn’t speak. What that pastor said God told him must be judged by the word of God. You don’t just take whatever anybody says “it is the word of God”.
      Am sure you need to listen to this video all over again

    • @mabeladdai399
      @mabeladdai399 Před 21 dnem +2

      He mean to say God speaks to us but not something "special' outside the bible as people proclaim. The bible is our manual and everything from God which the believer needs is captured in the bible. And to remind you that there is no difference between the word of God and the power of God(spirituality). His word is power! Don't look at it as separate entities as people wrongly do. There is miracle, it is in His word!
