I have been working in restaurants for the past 15years, and Tim, I do it exactly like you. I have to rinse the dishes first. I absolutely HATE food debris in my dish water.
As a bilingual kid I learned spanish first. But now my best language is english. always start with the language that isnt spoken in the country and have them spend a lot of time with family members that dont speak much english. I had a speech delay because some language confusion but dont let it scare you. Bilingual kids develop in a unique way.
when tim spoke about not wanting any direct food contact on the sponge because the sponge needs to be clean to clean the rest of the dishes, I've never felt so connected to anyone in my life loooool now talk to my mum coz i always have to explain this shit to her! and dont leave the sponge or cloths in the sink if you're gonna pour non-water liquid in the sink aarrgghh
Me and my hubby (13 y) are the same way - the most arguments we get into are because of miscommunication. we literally argue when we're on the same page, preceiving the other to be hostile lol or because we're not understanding how serious a topic is for the other. work in progress :) if it was easy it wouldn't be worth it

Tim: I have the same wash dish routine. I pre-rinse all my dishes and then soap and rinse off my dishes. Especially because it is annoying getting the sponge dirty with food. Chia I applaud you, when the go natural wave came around. My sisters joined, but me? I refused, and I was not curious. I agree creaming did mess up my curl pattern. But what I did was lower down the amount times I put cream in my hair. Then go back wipe, rinse and place in the drainer. 2. Kinda power wash (rinse) every dish as you place them into the sink to get the fresh food bits off and place them in the sink(s). It doesn’t matter if they’re put in one or both because they can be rearrange later. Wipe with a soapy sponge, rinse and place in the drainer. My dad does the first one and gets mad when he sees me doing the second one, but I hate sticking my hand in cold food filled water. And unless I’m washing a pot or something bigger/heavier than plates, cups, etc., I’ll always have a dish in one hand and the sponge in the other.

I'm with Tim washing the dishes, I don't like washing the dish with the sponge directly from when it's been used. Some people wear gloves to do the extra rinse but I don't because I'm paranoid and I need to feel that the dishes are completely rinsed off. If you don't do this step, well you' need more soap if there are a lot of dishes to wash. but on the other hand you are using more water. Two, as pointed out by Tim, the sponge touches the food bit so your spreading that bits all over the plate and me who took microbio class (even though the sponge technically is filthy if you reuse it and yes I reuse sponge) those slobs is smeared all over the plate and you know and I know if it isn't power washed, then the plate still have invisible bits still stuck on the plate and I don't like knowing that I've smeared that bits all over the plate and on the sponge.

When you're ready to wash, you rinse again, wash that plate and set it down and continue until all the dishes are soaped. Then, you rinse and place all the clean dishes on the rack. Any excess water runs into the sink from the counter top! This was such a hilarious video!
My bf is the same way as Tim where he has the "only child" mentality even tho he has many siblings, they were all raised by someone else within the family if that makes sense. He doesn't have empathy for people including me. Last year I lost of of my closest childhood friends to cancer and he didn't know how to react when I told him which upset me A LOT. We also recently found out he has adhd which doesn't help.
Is lack of empathy inability to express emotions? Maybe he understands it but just doesn't know how to communicate them? Either way kudos to you for being patient with him, it can't be easy
