For us in our 50s, this was part of our teenage tunes, and now we listen having lost loved ones along the way who we used to listen to these songs with, it is so bittersweet!
Listening to this sng brought tears to my eyes. Forever a child of the 80s. Would give pretty much ANYTHING to have the 80s come back & stay. The nostalgia that swept over me was bittersweet pain. .
You know, one of the best things about being in my 50's now, is that I lived my teenage years in the 80's........Priceless, and I wouldn't change them for the world!
This song is absolutely sublime. Everything about it is faultless. It's one of those tunes that never fail to give me shivers down the spine from start to finish. I'm thankful for many things in my life......and one of those is the fact I not only lived through the 80s, but that I was growing up in that decade, and thus grew up with wonderful music like this. Heaven for the ears....
“Art for art's sake is an empty phrase. Art for the sake of truth, art for the sake of the good and the beautiful, that is the faith I am searching for.” ― George Sand
That's what I call an 'eclypse hit', from a band whose name will be completely forgotten. And still when I rediscovered it, it brought me back in my pre-teenage years. I used to put the volume high ever time I heard it on the radio.
When it was released I was only 6 but now I'm 41 a father I still the relavance and I feel the massage. I even think of making it my wedding song...... Yes it's true the 80's 70's the music was really talking to people in various ways.....
The first time I had ever heard of Climie Fisher back when they were new in 1987, I thought that was the lead singer's name. Then I found out years later, it was the band name with the combination of the lead singer's and the keyboardist's last names. The lead singer was Simon Climie and the keyboardist was Rob Fisher and they were a musical duo. I always loved their music but unfortunately their career didn't last very long and they were always very underrated. They sure had excellent chemistry together though. ~Dutch
Great music and I'm 67! I still love it, my son's friend had their vinyl LP and he recorded it fir me onto a cassette, used to play on in my car - still love it
@@MrBiggoolie Hi Alan. I agree wholeheartedly. I'm a bit younger, but not that much. I was a snotty nosed kid in the 70's, but find myself going back to music of that period fairly often. I guess what I'm saying, and many/most people who complain about the music of today, and as you no doubt have gathered, is that the decades/eras differ in terms of creativity and innovation. To me the 60's and 70's were extremely innovative, with listeners spoiled for choice. In my opinion, this is no longer the case. One still finds "good" music being produced these days. It's just not that plentiful...
This song used to be on my playlist (walkman/tape) back in the day when I used to mow my the yard. It always made me feel good just by the sound of it. But also made me anxious about getting started with life and finding love. In a time of 80's hair bands (yes I liked them too) it was a refreshing sound.
+ÐanMusic ♫♪ I totally agree with you. I often write it here on CZcams: The music in the 80's was so much better than the music they make today. Of course there are some good songs, but mostly I think it's crap. My kids don't agree with me, though... ;-)
I can see it in your eyes You need a friend tonight 'Cause someone broke your heart in two You need a volunteer To wipe away your tears Someone who will rescue you Your whole world is tumbling down Can't get your feet on solid ground You're looking for someone Someone you know, you can count on I'll rise to the occasion Help you through the situation I'll be your inspiration Yeah, I'll rise to the occasion, oh No memories to shake No promises to break Just tender love and honesty I can offer you so much And I feel it when we touch Maybe this was meant to be I'm gonna share a secret with you My heart's been broken too I'm looking for someone Someone I know I can count on So won't you rise to the occasion Help me through the situation You can be my inspiration Take to heart this invitation, oh Come on come on come on baby, ooh Your whole world is changing now Need to be strong I'll show you how You're looking for someone Someone you know you can count on So come on rise to the occasion We'll get through this situation We'll be each other's inspiration The right combination I'll rise to the occasion Give you real apprecation I'll be your inspiration Take to heart this invitation I'll rise to the occasion Give you real apprecation I'll be your inspiration Take to heart this invitation
I like both this version and the hip-hop one. I had the albums too. I loved Climie Fisher. Very under-rated pop duo. I'm sure that had they had more hits - and if Rob Fisher was still alive - they would've been just as successful as the Pet Shop Boys.

Kids are kids....each generation has other music.
I can see it in your eyes
You need a friend tonight
'Cause someone broke your heart in two
You need a volunteer
To wipe away your tears
Someone who will rescue you
Your whole world is tumbling down
Can't get your feet on solid ground
You're looking for someone
Someone you know, you can count on
I'll rise to the occasion
Help you through the situation
I'll be your inspiration
Yeah, I'll rise to the occasion, oh
No memories to shake
No promises to break
Just tender love and honesty
I can offer you so much
And I feel it when we touch
Maybe this was meant to be
I'm gonna share a secret with you
My heart's been broken too
I'm looking for someone
Someone I know I can count on
So won't you rise to the occasion
Help me through the situation
You can be my inspiration
Take to heart this invitation, oh
Come on come on come on baby, ooh
Your whole world is changing now
Need to be strong I'll show you how
You're looking for someone
Someone you know you can count on
So come on rise to the occasion
We'll get through this situation
We'll be each other's inspiration
The right combination
I'll rise to the occasion
Give you real apprecation
I'll be your inspiration
Take to heart this invitation
I'll rise to the occasion
Give you real apprecation
I'll be your inspiration
Take to heart this invitation
