    I have this watch with a black face. I wasn't really looking for a two-tone, but I already have an oyster Batman (purchased 4 years ago for 8k!), so I thought this would be a good addition. This watch has a lot of classic Rolex DNA, which adds to the appeal, and I love the 42mm. It's a big watch, but nothing crazy. It's a little shocking how much it weighs when held in your hand. If you have other steel watches in your collection, I'd say consider the two-tone. Will it go up in price? Who cares! I didn't want to pay double for the steel version, which could crash in value towards the original retail price.

    Just to be clear, we're talking about a watch currently in the neighborhood of $17k. Definitely looks like a bargain relatively speaking, but investing in watches is like investing in cars or wines. You better love it for what it is, because if you want to speculate you can easily lose your shirt. Rolex has become increasingly popular recently and the economy has been doing extremely well, fueling conspicuous consumption. Wait for the next correction and see how these luxury goods fare.

    In February of 2017 I was ready to purchase my first precious metal watch. I had my mind made up and my heart set on a DayDate in YG. I walked into Gearys BH and saw a watch that I never really considered. I was punched in the face with an incredibly beautiful, incredibly complicated YG SkyDweller. I was so smitten by the annual calendar that I completely forgot why I went into Rolex in the first place. Without hesitation I was able to purchase this watch at a descent discount (remember, this was early 2017) and walked out with a chunk of YG on my wrist. Imagine my surprise a month later when at Basel World, Rolex introduced the SkyDweller in Rolesor and SS. At first I was a little upset that Rolex would betray their most high end buyers, but after a little reflection, I’m the owner of an incredible watch. And like many of my other Rolex time pieces, will only go up in value. Nice segment

    Not gonna lie, I love this watch. While it's well above my price range, if I were to buy something at that value, this would likely be my first choice. Heck, it's the only Rolex on which I actually prefer the look of the fluted bezel over the flat. The Datejust is too spartan for the fluted bezel to work (yes, IMO) which is why I feel like the flat bezel looks better on it. The Sky Dweller, on the other hand, has enough going on with the dial the fluted bezel fits right in. Also, as someone with large wrists, 42mm works well for me.

    The Sky Dweller is the greatest modern complications time piece from Rolex. I couldn’t decide between the 326933 black dial or champagne dial. Eventually, I chose the black dial. After owning this wonderful time piece for about a month, I chanced upon an opportunity to purchase a 326933 champagne dial and I jumped on it immediately. I am so glad I did not blink at that time (as it is still a lot of money for me), strongly believe the Sky Dweller will be a great watch of the future. Since Rolex introduces the Rolesor Sky Dweller, there is a big demand for this time piece and I count myself to be so lucky to own not one but two. It is such great value for your money (I don’t mean cheap) in comparison to other top brand manufacturers. I will not be surprised, given a little more time to ‘mature’ and like all great sportsmanship stories, Sky Dweller shall be the next Cosmograph Daytona or even overtake Daytona. Rolex recommends servicing of their modern time pieces every 10 years, as a watch collector, it feels good and comforting to know this high complications time piece does not attract a high maintenance costs. This watch will certainly last many generations. Ultimately, it is the great ownership experience, the impeccable service and reliability of Rolex After-sales Service that is second to none.

    I'm sure the Ring Command bezel and the 9001 calibre are worthy of Rolex flagship status, but I don't think the way the hour hand moves between 4:00 and 4:08 looks very precise or impressive

    I love the tech side of the watch and effort to complicate but not in to the two tone. My entry in to Rolex was buying a 2016 GMT 11 which is my every day watch. My budget is limited but I can now get into another high-end and think Rolex date just 41 in blue with oyster band is the way to go. Anyone any better suggestions? This one I will probably keep but interested in resale with any other proposal, pretty confident my suggestion has decent resale credibility.

    • @hueyh5637
      @hueyh5637 Před rokem

      I own a date just 41, 2 tone and a skydweller 2 tone. If your buying also as an investment, the skydweller has much better resale.
      Date just 41 sells a little above rrp used.
      If I had to make a decision between the 2, I’d take the sd all day long, it’s an engineering marvel.

    Just looking this one up on the internet... Hmmm. I, personally, don't call $17,000.00 a bargain. But you folks making 7 figure incomes? Pocket change. Am I right?

    • @georgebeckford728
      @georgebeckford728 Před 4 lety +17

      Well, all things considered it's a bargain. Even compared to other luxury horology like IWC Portugieser Annual for 21.000 USD in steel on a leather strap) This one has even gold with a partial gold bracelet, too. The stainless steel Sky-Dweller is only 14,000 USD MSRP. Also considering that Rolex sold themselves the gold version for about 40,000 USD on leather straps - those important customers have been completely f*cked, I tell you. It's an expensive hoppy. You can go fishing or bowling with a low income.

    It has the look of a dressy datejust but the thickness of a sporty sea-dweller...not a good combo I my eyes.
    If they can manage a thinner case by getting rid of the gmt function it would give the watch a better identity of a fully fledged dress watch - right now its neither one or the other
    Love to see the movement in the cellini line with a coin edge bezel!
