  • Here is a link to the cardboard roll like what we used. amzn.to/47Dwmrj. This does seem to be a great substitute to using a plastic fabric. Just make sure your beds do not have any extremely tough weeds as they may push through if they are.I hope the video was a blessing!

    I built 10 beds this year 25 feet x 30 inches using 24 inch rolls of cardboard. I did 2 layers and covered with 4 to 6 inches of compost. I have had the most productive weed free garden ever. Yes I do have to weed 3 times a week but what breaks through is weak and easy to pull. I now notice the first beds are now 6 months old and there are less weeds each week. I planted right on top of rhizome type weeds and grass which cannot be dug out or removed.

      This is a great testimony! Thank you for sharing your story. I have experienced the same. As long as we get the first season weed-free it seems the subsequent years are wonderful!

      Can you please tell me where you got your rolls from? I use compost to mulch to and you don't have to move the mulch to plant. What kind of compost did you use. I've been using LeafGro and it has a rich dark look and the plants really pop. Such a great idea of the rolls. I was doing the box but I get too tuckered out and give up. LOL

    Great idea! Saves a ton of time for a minor cost. I’ve spent loads of hours collecting, storing, and breaking dow cardboard boxes … not to mention removing the tape and labels! Thanks for this

      Lay the cardboard down with the tape and labels. Wait for it to rain. Now go back and remove all the tape. Much easier this way.

    Great Video! I clicked on the link but it only took me to the main Amazon page. Can you tell me the size and length? It looks like 4ft and corrugated but not sure. Such a great idea and soooo much easier. I had to switch from shredded mulch but now only mulch with compost. It might be more expensive however I found Leafgro for about $3 for 2cft so I don't have to move the mulch to plant. I'm old and bending down get's harder and recovery is slower. Thank you so much for sharing this great video and all the hard work you put in. It's been a year and if you haven't done an update could you please share how it's going? And YES! You have a VERY COOL BRO!!!

    Great video! Just a question: If I use cardboard, then install the weed fabric, and top it with pebbles, will that be a good idea? Right now I only have the pebbles and I'm getting weeds all over. Thanks for the advice!

    • @gardenguychannel
      @gardenguychannel  Před 26 dny

      I would simply do the fabric. The cardboard will decompose and then you will have weeds again because the pebbles will let light in whereas the mulch does not. Hope this helps! Sorry for the late response.

    Can I use this if Im just putting rock and flagstone pavers down? I want to keep the grass and weeds out!

    • @gardenguychannel
      @gardenguychannel  Před měsícem +1

      @@MsHeatherLea I would NOT use this. I would use a landscape fabric underneath rock and pavers. That way it’ll help prevent weeds long-term

    Fabric is a waste of time, in about 3 years time it will be covered in leaves or moss and its plastic being used on ex farm land.
