- EVEN FASTER!!!
In this quick video, I show how to make a redstone contraption that unloads hopper minecarts and then dispatches it to go get more items. Very cool!

I like the fact that you explain WHY the redstone works
To make it better, put a second minecart hopper underneath the block with the detector rail over it, and have a second hopper facing down underneath it. Have the hoppers underneath both of those stationary minecarts feed into a single dropper powered by the usual setup with comparator, sticky piston, and two observers facing one another. Have one hopper feed straight into the dropper from above, and the second feed into another hopper first, then into the back or side of the dropper. Droppers can handle the full load of two hoppers feeding into them. As usual, you'll likely want to put all the items into a water pipeline to get them where they need to be fast and with less lag using bubble elevators, packed/blue ice, and signs.
That was fantasitc! Exactly what I wanted/needed. Thank you for explaining WHY... so important, yet so few explain it clearly. Thanks!
This is EXACTLY the thing i was looking for! thank you so much. :)
Thank you so much for this video! This has changed the way i approach hopper carts. Its relatively simple and soooo effective.
Amazing Tutorial. I was making my system yesterday and was having a hard time trying to figure out how to fix my hoppper bottleneck. Thank you plus subscribed.
This worked so well! thank you so much even if this video is a bit old it works! thank you man.
Useful for my massive melon and pumpkin auto farm. Thanks, I owe you one!
Great idea... well done
awesome design!
works in 1.20! thanks for this, I've must have built it at least 2 dozen times by now for various farms
thank you! super helpful
Thanks used it for my squid farm!
Great video!
Working well in 1.15.2 - thanks!
thanks about to make that
Brilliant.
You can replace the 2nd comparator (on top) with redstone dust to save material
this is the answer to a very knotty problem I've been having. Only rather than a slab, I'm using a trap door on top, because you don't need to push it in place with a piston.
Very useful for my big bamboo farm on a survival server
Good! Glad it helps!
Really great concept! That was exactly what I needed to not need many Minecarts-with-Chest down there on my Mine, and needing to send them up just to found they are bouncing on eachother halfway. But, after mining, I certainly will get on my Minecart-with-Me and go up through the same Rail Line. How to prevent being sent back down to the Mine again? I can't get into the Hopper, so I will never be able to stop on my base after mining. How could I change that?
This is awesome and stops the minecart from taking forever. What do you do to make hoppers unload faster? Or at least how do you configure them so they can keep up with the hopper minecart? After 5 or 6 trips with a stack of items, the hopper gets bogged down.
To hard power the block above the activator rail, could you not have used a repeater instead of the second comparator?
Great tutorial.
I just jumped back into vanilla MC after years of playing mods on an outdated version. I could not believe how slow vanilla hoppers are!!! Im missing my buildcraft and thermal expansion....
But, I'll give this a try.
Does the hopper cart gets the items from the chest?
Is there any way to reverse the scenarios? Where the fence gate will open when the minecart is full?
On that row of redstone torches, use 1 less redstone torch and put a repeater to replace it.
this works with minecart chests!
how can i put these side by side?
amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow... impressive!
Thanks!
I'm having the reverse problem -- my cart only drops off 3 items on a stack of 64 and leaves. Anyone have any ideas on how to make my cart wait to unload everything?
I think that hopper can get full In time and it Will be slow again. it need split that minecart with 2 hopper.
how tho
@@matthiaswarlop2316 hopperminecart up and down 2x hoppers. hopperminecart is middle of them so it is 2x speed.
PS: also need add that hopperminecart inside blocks so it can't move.
You can do this with less components:
BRRR
TBBBF
B
Not working on 1.16 bedrock, it appears because the ramp is not above the hopper minecart it doesn't collect.
I'll try making the detector rail ramp be actually above the hopper Minecart collector itself.
Or first, I maybe I'll try to push the hopper Minecart collector into the block under the ramp? Thanks for the video
dpinched I use this in 1.16.2 and it is working fine .
This doesn't really solve the problem, only moves the problem of hopper (block) speed unloading to the 2nd hopper minecart
It does solve the problem. The problem is the Minecraft must wait a long time and we want it to get dispatched quickly to pick up other items before they despawn.
Minecart not Minecraft
Let me try to explain better now that I am the computer instead of my phone.
The problem trying to be solved here is how to get the hopper minecart that gathers from a farm .. to dispatch as fast as possible. Using a hopper minecart to 'suck' the items out quickly allows the primary minecart to empty and dispatch quickly. That is the problem that is solved here.
Now you're right about it is still in the other minecart, and that still goes at the normal speed. But what if we have a giant farm? You could add more and more of those minecarts below the primary to quickly suck the items in to make sure you get all the items that drop.
Think of the secondary minecart as a 'buffer' between the primary minecart and the storage system.
@@Tinker77 that’s not the problem needing to be solved though. Let’s take a flower farm, it produces a LOT of items and those hoppers at the end of the collection will fill very fast. Moving the hopper 1 away from the original only slows the inevitable
@@Neon1880 There isn't really a way to push the items into the storage quicker. This system is meant to solve a different problem, not this, and you can't just assign the goal to match your expectations. This system is for quickly unloading the items from the collection minecart so that it's ready to collect more items faster before they despawn
you just solved the problem with another problem
Not working for me. :(

Hi pewds
why does my minecart get destroyed?
Hi😅... do you have minecraft for Nintendo Switch?😂
Does this work in bedrock ?
Yes but from what I tested I had to modify mine, so where the detector rail is located you should put the hopper minecart underneath there instead and everything else should be the same, just make sure to have the hopper minecart that is underneath the detector rail feed into another hopper and then whatever else be it chests or more hoppers
@@AngelDaFish thank you
@@AngelDaFish you are a lifesaver
Old video but this just delays the problem. Im trying to find a solution to make the hopper minecart empty its contests faster to the chest. This system you built only fills the minecart below it while the minecart below fills the hoppers at a MUCH slower pace. So after only a few minutes to about half an hour, the minecart will fill up and the whole system will freeze like before.
The point of this design is to unload the dispatching cart as fast as possible so it can try and keep up with what the portion of the farm it is to gather from.
When making big farms you need multiple collection systems because hoppers just can't keep up. So if your farm is exceeding the capacity of this, then you need to divide up the gathering area and make more of this system.
Assuming you have some sort of shut off for your farms, it will eventually catch up. If you have a mega farm that doesn't have a way to shut off.. hoppers can't keep up.
This solution doesnt make it any faster, it looks faster in a begining but it will get throtled down by hopper speed
While yes the hopper speed is a constant bottle neck it isn’t the speed of getting into the chest that is the point. The point is to unload the cart as fast as possible so it can get back out and pick up the drops before they despawn. Once a drop is in the cart it is “in the system” and won’t despawn.
@@Tinker77 You can work around that bottle neck by using for example dropers which are able to transport items twice as fast. Imagine that someone would use this desing in bamboo farm, thinking it can unload items super fast, but then would notice that unloading was fast only at first 5 stacks and people who are usually looking for tutorials like this dont know how to bypass hopper limits.
Petrix49 again your focusing on a different problem. The bottom line of this video is how to make the hopper minecart spend as little time as possible unloading. There are many things you can do with the stacks you get from it, but I challenge you to unload the minecart faster. That was the goal here

ok? ok. sorry but it's so hard to ignore. vocal pauses are so hard to defeat. mine is "like". :(
nice tutorial though :)
dandymcgee I’m working on that. I have a few of those pauses. It I’m trying . Thanks for understanding !
