  • TelescopMan makes a contact (QSO) with a Japanese ham radio operator. Notice the good English used by the Japanese radio operator.
I always get the question, "how do you communicate with radio operators in foreign countries?". It's not very hard! :)

You never know when the bands will be open. Yes there are sites on the internet along with PREDICTION software---- HOWEVER they are not 100% accurate. It's really ODD that 10 meters is always open with lots of signals when ever there happens to be a radio contest. EVEN DURING SOLAR MINIMUM. HA! :) Why? simply because lots of people are calling "CQ" and the band is open to somewhere at certain times everyday.
Exactly where and when is not known. So, call "CQ" a few times even when the band seems dead and see what may happen! 73

Timothy Parry Jr this was several days ago on 20 meters- SSB- in the afternoon. My Mosley beam antenna was pointed to Japan at about 313 degrees.
