I receive many e mails/questions about the DARNA stone.
It is a personal customization. A dude from Manila, Philippines made it for me. That dude works for a scooter dealership in Manila. Darna stone is a small piece of stone like stuff. It is put inside the pipe.
No, you can't buy it online or in any retail store, it is a personal customization.
Guys, don't worry, get a YOSHI exhaust for your 2009-2010 YAMAHA R1 and you will be happy. The exhaust is loud enough, no need for the DARNA stone.

I love the way a cross plane crank makes the R1 sound, it's like what you'd expect from the likes of a Camaro or a Mustang!

R1 is a masterpiece of design, nothing compares to it.
A BMW s1000rr does and it is faster

s1000rr looks fatty and heavy. I don't like its design.

I notice that bikes such as Ducatis or the new gen R1's sound much better in person than on video. Other bikes (inline 4's) sound good in person and in video.
Its because cross planes and ducats don't sound like regular inlines. Cross planes will never sound as good as gsxr,kaki,honda,bmw because the cross plane is made of uneven firing order, giving the way it revs a lumpier sound. Doesn't have that f1 sound. I don't know about ducati's that much but i do know their engine setup is slightly different for some reason. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Amazing sound, is it really deep and smooth like it is in video? I seriously did not even know motorcycles could even SOUND like a friggin V6 with a Borla exhaust!! Awesome.
The R1 is a race bike , thinly disguised for the road. It is made for the track . Factory exhaust complies with decibel laws and noise pollution restrictions.
The bike is truly amazing , power and beauty to the highest levels.... esp with the Yoshi pipes.
If we had a track to hand I may have got one ... but in our crowded metropolis... race bikes are difficult to manage in the stop start traffic jams , so a low end torque sport/tourer is more realistic ( like the Ninja 650 ) .

STDrepository that's cause of the crossplane crankshaft design. I think only Yamaha uses it on production motorcycles.

Yoshimura has an incredible finish at the top level and what tone of the exhaust a real treat for the ears, just the opposite of a Two Brothers Exhaust
it sounds better in high revs..used to hate the sound but when i saw it during track days, i changed my mind. a beast!

That has to be the most dynamic, most awesome sound I have ever heard from a bike!! I love muscle cars and this sounds so so so much like a true muscle car. Since we can't get the stone anywhere except thru your friend in the Philippines, give us some more info about it. How do the stones work exactly and where in the tubes do you put them? In all honesty, you say just get a YOSHI exhaust and we will be happy but the YOSHI's by themselves won't give that muscular V8 sound. I have to admit it... I'm a bit jealous... LOL... But seriously, if I could do it, that would be the sound coming out of my bike!!

Yamaha is the best company ever to make something that gets you from point A to B. I have a 2008 R6R, and It is my first street bike. I almost want to sell it and buy an R1 JUST to HEAR THIS every day!

Nice choice of exhaust for the R1 and they look really good as well. I have also purchased Yoshimura for my B-King with state of the art tuned 1340 cc Hayabusa engine with approx 230 bhp - but your exhaust sounds better than mine.

i love that pocka - pocka sound, sounds very similar to a V-twin, the Honda and Yamaha MotoGP bikes from 2010 and above have also that same distinctive sound. Whatever part of the engine is responsible for that sound it seems that Yamaha is the only one using it on production bikes.

If you get a SlipOn you should visit a dealer with Dynojet to enhance the driving experience and also care for your bike by getting a good custom mapping done!

So wait, do you have an R1 as well Mark? I thought you had a ZX-6R? At any rate, my new bike choice was narrowed down to a brand new R1 or ZX-6R and I went with the 6R mostly because I couldn't find an R1 for $10k otd. I truly love my 6R 636 but I sometimes wonder what could have been had I spent the extra $$$ and gotten the R1. It still has my all time favorite exhaust note!
