@yoovechkin So he gets a different flex. The certain length is a certain flex, you cut it down it loosens the flex, and the extension doesn't change the flex at all.
@yoovechkin it gives it more feel believe it or not. the vibrations travel through the extension much better than they do the normal shaft. also it does make it sturdier
He does it so he can have a custom grip on his stick. If you look closly it is shaved of a little bit. That is exactly what i do with my sticks except i make it narrow in the middle
The wood in the end, is common i heard in the pros, it stops the whole stick from vibrating when the puck hits it, and gets rid of some of the "tin feel" of the one-piece stick. Im not sure if this is 100% true.
They charge $400-500 for top end sticks in Australia. An EQ10 or 2K stick here goes for $100. EQ5 Skates are $700 where as EQ50's don't even cost that must plus shipping. We get shafted for hockey gear in Australia.
I understand it that he says sometimes he goes 6 games without breaking one, sometimes he breaks 3 or 4 in a game. But over the course of a season it's close to 100.
Can anybody plz tell me what tool he is using to actually curve the stick? He puts a bit of the blade into it and then bends the blade to the right curve. What is that tool, how do I get one?
@thebomb667 um...no he cuts it and then adds a thinner butt end its not for flex its for his top hand grip he clearly likes a thinner grip on his stick if it was for flex he wouldnt of cut it down
@canufi lol who can forget those awful aluminum sticks, a friend of mine had one it was heavier than any stick I've ever used. I believe Iafrate set that record with the wooden stick, I can just imagine what speed he would have reached if he had a composite, could you imagine Al MacInnis with one of those? lol but i agree i love wooden sticks but the modern materials and technology used to make the newer sticks is amazing.
i mean y does he need to make his own curve..it could be from prefrence but i mean ur a pro just ask for the curve already made and itll save u like 5-10 mins
Hahaha that's funny. Pro stock sticks are different than sponsored retail sticks man. It's the composite mold that they make the pattern out of that can't be curved the way he wants so even his pro stocks have to be recurved like many many nhl'ers do.
guomaster I curved an bauer vapor x60 before that turned out good, I think its because the textreme carbon is wider and doesn't crack like the smaller fibre layouts
the only thing u got on me is something that u r assuming which is that i dont play 4 the tigers but i acually do so u got nothing on me so if u don't reply back that would b great.
i get my sticks for free from my junior team so i wouldnt have to worry about getting some shitty company like cristian or sher wood to customize a stick for me. i just get sticks ordered in.
If I had my way Sykora would be an oiler until he retired
an absolute beauty of a player and an even better person
the snap shot is sick with sykoras stick
@yoovechkin So he gets a different flex. The certain length is a certain flex, you cut it down it loosens the flex, and the extension doesn't change the flex at all.
@yoovechkin he does that to add weight to the top of the shaft to give it a more balanced feel.
1:30 I don't think anyone has heard that in a while haha
HELLLLLLL YEAH! the minnesota wild are going to kick some serious ass this year!
@yoovechkin it gives it more feel believe it or not. the vibrations travel through the extension much better than they do the normal shaft. also it does make it sturdier
I miss these oliers.
He does it so he can have a custom grip on his stick. If you look closly it is shaved of a little bit. That is exactly what i do with my sticks except i make it narrow in the middle
@yoovechkin not exactly sure but when i put an extention on my stick it makes it whippier, so maybe he cuts it to make it whippier?
99% of the people wont see this but the 1% that do have a really nice day 😀
Thank you! You have a fantastic day!
@AznxNija12 my extension keeps getting loose. what should I use to really keep them sitting tight for a long time?
The wood in the end, is common i heard in the pros, it stops the whole stick from vibrating when the puck hits it, and gets rid of some of the "tin feel" of the one-piece stick. Im not sure if this is 100% true.
@pgbruiser where the stick flexes, the lower it is, the quicker you can get shots off.
Usually the extension is to dampen the vibrations. Wood doesn't vibrate as much.
he plugs it to balance the weight of the head and the top of the shaft

because the wood plug is sanded down so he has a better grip
I understand it that he says sometimes he goes 6 games without breaking one, sometimes he breaks 3 or 4 in a game. But over the course of a season it's close to 100.
Does it weaken the blade if you heat it up and make your own curve ?
i love Sykie
@yoovechkin if u put grip on the end it doesnt ruin ur stick
@yoovechkin because he wanted to have a smaller but end to have his feel on the stick if u look u can see that his but end is shaved down quite a bit
@canufi well when Gretsky played only wooden sticks were available, im sure if he was playing now he would be using composite like everyone else
@BadKidBlastid because it make the flex higher in the stick.
Probably just makes the blade a bit closer to the ground or for a bit of a flatter feel, I guess.
how can u curve a composite blade
bc it can give the stick more flex sometimes for when you shoot
@yoovechkin Probably just to be able to file down the wood and make a better or more personalized grip to the stick
what tool is he useing between 48-51
That's pretty cool.
Why did he cut it down then put an extention in it
@yoovechkin Cause he wants his sticks to be a little stiffer
Look at how square it is
The Easton Stealth CNT, best stick eason has ever made. I miss them.
That was a great constructed stick.
why does he grind the bottom of the blade?
lol u no me so well now.
Elias owns
@yoovechkin BETTER FEEL.
what does the filing or shaving of the stick do?
He probably wants the blade to sit flatter on the ice.
@emericancitizen10 it gives them a better a grip and its smoother
WHL i use a straight curve so i dont have to worry about it but guys on my team this past season got their own curves.
Can anybody plz tell me what tool he is using to actually curve the stick?
He puts a bit of the blade into it and then bends the blade to the right curve.
What is that tool, how do I get one?
I think they are called pro curve. I saw one on eBay once.
@northeasthockey23 if i had to guess maybe change the lie a bit or blend the shaft to blade a little better i dont know
does anyone know what that tool is called he uses to bend his stick
I think it’s called pro curve
buy all of them
@thebomb667 um...no he cuts it and then adds a thinner butt end its not for flex its for his top hand grip he clearly likes a thinner grip on his stick if it was for flex he wouldnt of cut it down
the extension looks shaved like width ways so probably he likes a smaller grip at the top
Ok critic1900 ... and where do you think the Reebok company is ? Yes its in Montreal
@yoovechkin because he wants a perfect flex
sick s17
Sticks arent free? The team pays for them.
my local shop has like 5 of them lol
@northeasthockey23 they give a better feel for the puck i think
lol i was wondering too
@canufi lol who can forget those awful aluminum sticks, a friend of mine had one it was heavier than any stick I've ever used. @northeasthockey23 so when he slashes someone it cuts them
@RedEldorado All pro players get there sticks free from which ever company.
flattest toe on a hockey stick ive ever seen lol
@RickNashPwns
400-500??? that sucks i dont think i can afford that. on planet earth they typically go for 299.99 at the most.
@PlanBtime12 wow i live in canada and a eq40 is 70$.
120 sticks a year? i have been through only 3 sticks in four years...lol
cnt?
240p we meet again
was that english?
i mean y does he need to make his own curve..it could be from prefrence but i mean ur a pro just ask for the curve already made and itll save u like 5-10 mins
@TINKERHOCKEY yes
you'd be soo rich man, a whole 14 dollars!!
Bender

guomaster I curved an bauer vapor x60 before that turned out good, I think its because the textreme carbon is wider and doesn't crack like the smaller fibre layouts
@northeasthockey23 He wants to shave off his weight on the blade so its more well balanced
@yoovechkin to make it stiffer
sorry thats what i ment
western hockey league and i play for the medicine hat tigers
the only thing u got on me is something that u r assuming which is that i dont play 4 the tigers but i acually do so u got nothing on me so if u don't reply back that would b great.
@yoovechkin he can shape it cos its wood
@yoovechkin He think it is more comfortable, i don't like it but i know i lot of guys who likes extenchen...
yuppers
@northeasthockey23 its his preference
must be nice to get 120 sticks a season.....my broke ass has 3
i get my sticks for free from my junior team so i wouldnt have to worry about getting some shitty company like cristian or sher wood to customize a stick for me. i just get sticks ordered in.
haha i tried this on my total one and i fucked it up xD
still not a good idea to do it unless you have A LOT of money or you get them for free because it weakens the blades
@yoovechkin to even out the weight
uhhhh maybe you break it because it says no open flame, ugh sykora sucks...sucked
