- Forcing a patina on the Opinel no 8 carbon steel knife. Using mustard, vinegar and a lemon I forced a patina on the knife. A very simple project you can do to your carbon steel knives.

Haha, funny 😂😂😂
Nicely done. 👍👏 I have a number 12 in stainless steel, but if a number 12 carbon blade was done like what you did, plus some handle modifications, it wood look great.
Thanks man
Cool method! I’m gonna try taking your mustard mixture and soaking a fishnet stocking, then laying that on a kukri machete. I think it’ll give it a nice snakeskin pattern. Thanks for the video!
Sounds nice. Let me know how it turns out 😉
Schaut gut aus
Nice DG! Any hiking on Your plans?
I wish I had the time. But how I have it its work and other activities with the family so I dont have the time for do longer trips or somthing like that.
@@DGOutdoorLife I recognize that life situation, dayhikes are not bad or desktop videos for that matter either. Keep up the good work!
@@Braapncamp Thanks man. Yes I take watt I can take and do de best of it so I can put out some videos for you all.
Will this mixture work on 3V steel?
I don't think so.
Interesting how it stained on the outside of the spots and not the inside
My guess is the mixture needs oxygen to work and that's why it didn't oxidize on the inside where it was sealed from air.
I think you right ther 😉
Does it work well on stainless
No, you can only do this on carbon steel.
İ have question what is the orher knife in the beggining part of video, pointed one ?
Her you can see this knife czcams.com/video/XlbeZHVkMr4/video.html
Hi DG I’ve got a casstrom Sfk with curly birch handle , think it would be great to replicate the curly birch pattern to the carbon steel blade 👍
