    I absolutely love the Beretta gas guns, My go to for Duck and geese has been my 1990 vintage 390 silver mallard. #3, 3" drylock has always been my favorite load in this gun and it has devoured thousands of them over the years without complaint.

    Another great video to get DRWC going boy! I got the code black duck/and goose chokes for my gun about 4 months ago. But haven’t gotten around to seeing how they pattern.

    Thanks for sharing your results. I noticed that there are quite a few holes in those patterns for only 35 yards shots. I have less holes at 50 yards with the Carlson Cremator MR in my SBE2, SX3, and Franchi Affinity with a variety of ammo.
    Might want to give that choke a try.

    Some of those after markets are more of a full choke, where as the factory tube was modified. Maybe test the stock full vs stock mod and compare that to the aftermarket tubes. Great set up with the table and sand bag.

      @_DRWC_Official  Před 4 lety

      I did want to but steel was not recommended by beretta to run through its full choke. From my understanding from contacting after market choke tube companies...is the “improved modified” lead choke...is the tightest you want to shoot steel through. And shot nothing greater than BB through that one.

    • @clinte9897
      @clinte9897 Před 4 lety

      Death Row Waterfowl Co. but it’s marketed as a waterfowl gun, why would beretta not supply steel shot full choke for far shots.

    • @_DRWC_Official
      @_DRWC_Official  Před 4 lety +2

      That’s a great question. The gun comes with 5 choke tubes. Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Full, and extra full. On each choke tube beretta has marked them “OK- Steel , NO- Steel”....No Steel is marked on the full and extra full. Now from my understanding a “extra full choke in steel” is an improved modified constriction roughly for lead. And a full choke for steel is more of a modified constriction for lead. This is what Kicks has told me. Now reason being is lead will compress since it’s a softer pattern...allowing you to have much tighter chokes vs steel...which will not compress well. Which is how you can blow a hole in your shotgun barrel. If you have any more questions maybe contact beretta and see what they say...or those who create after market choke tubes. But as of now I’ll be running a pattern master code black duck tube on this gun.

      @joeyclark5064 Před 3 lety

      Factory chokes are set up to pattern lead shot. A modified lead choke is the equivalent of full when shooting steel which is why most manufacturers specify not to shoot steel out of their stock fulls or x-full. It has to do with the speed and the inability of steel to be compressed through a smaller opening versus lead as a softer metal.

    Why did you not use the full choke that came with the gun to compare against other full chokes?

    • @_DRWC_Official
      @_DRWC_Official  Před 3 lety

      My full choke is not rated for steel. The recommended tightest choke for steel, is an improved modified choke for lead constriction wise. Even then you have to be careful with what size shot you use.

  • @spikex41

    Do these chokes say on them “no steel”? Bc every single choke I’ve seen past modified says no steel. Do not shoot steel thru choke. Warning labels on them etc. so again do they say on them that there good for steel?

    I had to trash my Kicks high flyer full in less than 100 rounds of non toxic BB with that same shotgun. The choke expanded and nearly got stuck even though kicks claims that choke can handle up to BBB waterfowl loads.

      @_DRWC_Official  Před 2 lety

      Sorry to hear man. I don’t run BB. If I have to go down that route I’ll just run Boss shells. If I run steel I’ll use Migra 2/4 stack.

      GregorBlacksmith Hey bro. Thanks for checking out my channel. I’d recommend shooting HeviMetals 2 out of the kicks or pattern master for geese. If you have the standard modified choke...I’d recommend speed shok in BB. You won’t go wrong there.

      Great question my man. The only reason I knocked it just a hair on score...was because it did have just a hair...and I mean just a hair of bulkiness compared to it’s competitor such as the SBE3. By bulk...I just mean it’s not as slim compared to the SBE3. But you really won’t notice honestly. But other than that this gun operates super smooth, and shoots super well. I actually think it’s smoother than the SBE3.

      I had have both the sb3 and a400 extrama plus and the a400 is by far the better shotgun. Doesn’t shoot high or recoil as bad as the sb3.
