lol this is literally, at least to me and many others, the least 4AD band in the whole catalogue. Actually on a recent poll in the 4AD FB group on what we thought the least 4AD band was, most people said gusgus or paladins

Listening this song since i have seen it on VIVA channel Berlin house program year 1995... it will be soon a 30 years anniversary as i keep loving this song...One of the most unuasual and mysteriuous electronic music song ever.

The only official release of this brilliant version could only be found on the so-called "Standard Stuff For Drama" E.P. , released in the US only in 1997. It couldn't be found on any of the numerous CD singles issued in Europe throughout Europe in the years between 1996 and 98.
Man, that friggin' sucks. I hate when great mixes are left to obscurity.
this version (late) doesn't exist in Polydistortion album but is taken from Polyesterday single released in 1996 on 4AD
It's really a mix up of several versions segueing into one another, one of which I can't identify. It starts with edited bits of Late, as you say, and then suddenly jumps to a piece of Distortion but with overdubs from the untitled final track from the album, (aka Polybackwards). Then there's a beatless section that I don't know but is some of the melody from the album version, and then something that sounds like the album version ends the video. So it's really unique to the video, and in any case is an amazing thing! I like most of their electronic material post-Normal, but hearing this really makes me hanker for these good old trip-hop days... :)

Dome Nico Ever the music geek, I looked into it some more and found there's a Polymovie version available on a couple of promo CDs. They were so creative back then but I guess that's what happens with 11 people. Shame there were too many to hold themselves together...
Man, that's disappointing. I really want this version. I love many of the remixes and the original, but this is one of my favorite chill tracks, just as it is here. My cassette tape is wearing thin, though. :P
Partially the "Late" version + the song titled "Polydistortion" both of which are on the CD single, partially the album version and partially the untitled "Polyreprise" (aka "Polybackwards") instrumental on the tail end of the album. In its own way a unique video mix. The whole things is a classic now.
