I'm with Garcelle. Kids tend to have wisdom and they are VERY honest in most cases. They can smell when something is off, even when they can't completely explain it. As far as Adrienne's opinion, I suspect maybe whoever's kid that is has been dealing with some internal hurt or fear of abandonment. Selfish behavior is never okay, but it's usually a deeper issue of the child (minor or adult) not wanting to feel less than or lose their personal relationship with the parent.
Or when the kid(no matter the age)wants there parents to get back together or just can’t come to terms with seeing their parents with anyone other than the other parent
Or the child can be use to having that parent all to themselves and doesn't want to share their time with a new person.
Unless there's abuse, cheating, etc., leave it alone. If they're happy, that should be the only thing that matters.

My stepdad has humiliated my mom in front of me. I haven't liked him since I was 5 but they still together. I keep it to myself . He is the father of my two siblings. But I don't say more than two words to him. It's an awkward situation.
Wow. That sucks! I think your situation is different as there is an actual marriage and children involved. It really sucks that they have been together since you were five and you and him do not have a father/child relationship. He should be looking at you as once of his own children after being with your mother since you were so young.

@@MsRose00 it does suck. I lost my father when I turned a year old. I feel this emptiness inside, this void. But my stepdad has treated me like I'm a wall since I was little. I never wanted him as a father figure anyways. He doesn't even look at me when he speaks. He has called me a liar and bullied me when I was younger as well. I'm pregnant now and I haven't heard a congrats from him ever. He treats my sister, his own daughter, like she is a failure. But my mom will never leave his side. She is terrified of losing people so she stays quite when he humiliates her; she lost my dad when she was just 21 years old and has been traumatized for life. It breaks my heart. I'm deeply disturbed by all of this. But I know I'll hurt her more if I say what I think about her husband.

@J R I understand completely. I've been called names by my stepdad because I caught him talking to another woman. I was only 5 at that time ; he called me a liar and that was that. Nothing changed. Its beyond toxic. My sister is scarred for life because her father treats her like she is less than everyone else. I can write a book about how disturbing it all was growing up. It's a bizarre environment for me to be around now days. I cant invite my mom anywhere because she cant leave him behind. I have confronted him for his behavior once and he ran to his mom's house, like he always does when you disagree with him. He'll stay for days and then comes back like he has done nothing wrong. I've learned to let it go . It's not my battle to fight anymore . Not worth it .
I agree with Loni. Adrienne only has her opinion because of her relationship with Israel. She said she would stay out of it completely but then turned around and said she would bring something up that she observed in her mom's theoretical boyfriend.
Am I the only one who remembers Israel saying his daughter Mariah was initially not comfortable with him and Adrienne being together? Adrienne also said Israel made it clear to his kids that she is his girlfriend (when they were dating) and she is to be respected.
I think that's the reason she's so fired up about this topic.

Been there done that! Sometimes when you say something and the mother is in love with that man she’s going to stay with him no matter what despite what the children and family say. She may even call you jealous, sometimes love is blind and they have to find out for themselves before it’s too late. Only thing you can do is be the best child you can be and keep your eyes open.

My mom is the kind to disown everyone if you say anything about the man she dates, she doesn't care how f up his morales are. So the last man she was dating was hitting on me, my aunts, my aunts friends and who know how many others. No one said nothing to her cause we all know how she is. Well he ended up using her really good, to the point that he left for a "job" somewhere that had no phone service, 24 hours to get to the nearest town, no banks and this was somewhere in California, he was "building condos" 🤔 She was even paying his child support, cause you know he didn't have access to anything lol he ghosted her one day and has never been seen again.
My sister even got mad at me for not liking her cheating man. She came to me crying, me being the loving sister I'm on her side and when they got back together guess who was the bad guy? Me! So I don't get involved with no one relationship. That's a rule I had and I broke it for my sister but never again! you grown, you have a brain, us it. Love make you blind only if you let it.

Luckily anytime a man hasn’t been right for my mom, she realizes it herself eventually so I would wait it out a few weeks before saying something (unless, of course, it’s a seriously abusive situation). Sometimes people just don’t give great first impressions in fear of judgement especially with someone else’s family.
I would find out what she likes about him and try to rationalize that, I would say my piece respectfully

I'm kinda with Adrienne. I've literally seen people ruin their parents relationships for petty reasons and selfishness. I believe that just because you don't like something doesn't mean that they aren't good for someone else just like Loni said. Everyone has different beliefs, expectations and standards. I would only speak up if it were abuse, but if I'm honest my grandma would get to my mom before I could.

When my dad met his ex wife, she was fine, they just worked with each other and then she started dating for almost 7 years before they got married. I didn’t like her and yes I was young and it was probably was not super happy with my dad being with someone new, but he has a shorter relationship before that and I loved her. His ex wife use to say bad things about my mom to me, she was very harsh, then she told my dad they needed to get married or she was leaving. I cried at their wedding because I was sad, then about 2 years later she went to her parents house and never came back because she wanted out, and she left my dad with all of her debt. It was a really really hard time. But he’s married now to an amazing woman and I love her, she’s a wonderful female to look up too/ my bonus mom/ my friend and I love seeing my dad happy, as well as blossoming into the best version of himself because of her. So I think just because a kid doesn’t like the S.O doesn’t always mean they’re just being selfish, it can for sure mean that, but sometimes it’s intuition or something more too. It’s tough all around lol.

I think sometimes you have to tread lightly... because the same way your parents don’t necessarily have to like the person you’re with for you to love your partner... we have to understand is the same way as the child just because we don’t like our parents new boo doesn’t mean they’re gonna be up and done just cuz we don’t like them ! At the end of the day they are grown... if the reasons you don’t like them ( whether petty or personal ) are being told... then fine but they are old enough to to the point where they’ve been there , done that , worn a t-shirt and can smell the fake stuff from a mile way so they can or should be able to handle themselves !

What if the person your mom is “dating” her your Dad? 😆 My mom and dad never officially divorced. Don’t get me wrong, my Dad is wonderful as a Dad. But they’re not good together because my Dad loves other women. Now all of us are grown and they are acting like they are back in love. Maybe he got all his cheating out the way but he stays at my mom’s house (still technically their house) at times and my mom has even spent the nice at his house (technically their house as well as he bought it as they aren’t divorced).
You're not alone. I have a friend who along with her brother did everything they could to put a stop to their divorced parents dating cause they felt their dad wasn't good for their mom.

I agree with Adrienne and Loni. From personal experience my step-sister hates my mom and could care less that her father is happy. She’s right it’s not about you. And like she said to Jeannie, it’s not your relationship so, focus on the parent not what you feel. Ask them how they feel about something, not your choice who there’re with.
You never know how the child inside a person feels. I felt like my father chose his happiness over us and I had to dig deep and show him a kindness he never showed me through the entirety of their divorce where I had to carry him amd our siblings emotionally. Whenever I see my dad's wife, as much as she's a good person whom I like and treat well, she is a reminder of my destroyed home and my parents who didn't love us or our family enough to put away childishness and actually work on their issues. I could never get over that barrier and I care for her because my father whom I love loves her.
