****IMPORTANT STEP*** Knock out the drain plug on the new unit BEFORE reconnecting the dishwasher! Thanks for the video, you have a great attitude!
Thank you I'm a single mom on a budget and doing this by myself saved me a lot of money
Thank you!!! A plumber quoted me $500 to fix my cracked disposal!😳 I watched your video and went to HD and spend $80, followed your instructions exactly and everything works perfectly! Subscribing!!
Woke up this morning to a disaster in my kitchen. Found your video!! It was perfect. Great quality, clear, concise and covered everything!!
Headed to Home Depot and in less than an hour, I took off the old one and replaced the new one, twice. Lol I say twice because I forgot to knock out the dishwasher drain pluggy thingy madoo (and yes that is the official name lol) and the guy at home depot told me not to forget like twice lol So I had to take it back down, knock that thing out, then put it back up. Lol your instructions were so clear I only had to watch once!! So great!! Thank you Tool Dude Tony!!
You rock! I am on a tight budget and my disposal broke a week ago. The kitchen sink was not draining and the dishwasher was backing up. I have never done anything like this and with your video I did it myself! Thank you so much!!!!
Great job on the video. I've replaced many disposals and appreciate the fact that you ran into a problem with the drain pipes and solved it with no drama or confusion. Thank you!
Thank you for the step by step video with added text on videos.
Luckily I just bought the same brand and model so it was a tad easier for me with the pipe work.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much! Followed your video and knew exactly what to purchase and it worked right the first time. $100+ staying in my pocket!
Thanks for the video. Watched it yesterday and replaced my old disposal this morning. Much easier than I thought, 30-45 minutes I was done. It helped having an idea what to do before starting.
Hi Tony, This 68 yr old chick has her new badger up and running in only 2 hrs thank to your video-just finished running dishwasher-watched for leaks-all is well. Problem was weight-lifting it into channels-that is why it took 2hrs and not 1/2 hr. Straight piping made easy with this video-Thanks went at it with confidence with easy instructions.
Well done chick!
Very easy to follow, thanks for posting. Was anticipating an hour or so to replace mine, was done in15 minutes. This video definitely helped.
Nicely done. Ready to repay my neighbor in replacing their disposal. Good video
Thank you for this video. A plumber quoted me $275 to replace my disposal. I now have the confidence to do this on my own. I'll make sure to remove the dishwasher plug.
The one thing to remember if you are installing a dishwasher hose is there is a little plug in the disposal blocking the outlet in case you don't have a dishwasher. While the disposal is out, tap the plug out with a screw driver and a hammer, by inserting the screw driver in the dishwasher hose inlet.
just what I needed. one note: don't let the old unit drop on your finger during removal...it hurts like the dickens.
I had never replaced one of these before. Thanks to you...I have now and it was easier than I thought! Took me about 25-30 minutes. I wanted to share my gratitude and appreciation with sharing a very informative "How To Do" video! I'm subscribed and if I need a tip...I'm going to look you up!
Hey man - I followed you instructions and successfully installed the new disposal BUT I continued to have issues with the air gap spewing water when I run the dish washer. After doing more research, the step missing was punching out the outlet that hooks up to the dish washer.
If I didn't have an air gap that would have meant massive back wash into the dishwasher. But because I did, it meant my counter was flooded with water. You did a comprehensive video but this is a critical step and warrants an update.
Edwin Zhao Yep... That's why I added a caption to the video instructing people to knock out that plug. Sorry you missed that.
Tool Dude Tony Man I missed that step as well (re: removing the dishwasher plug). I went back and looked at the caption and anyone could miss it. If there's anyway to pause the video and put it in BIG WRITING, it might help folks like me. Other then that, video was good and helpful.
+Edwin Zhao Duh, now I see the caption. Well, luck I didn't have water leaking out. Lesson learned
Thanks! Your instructions gave me the confidence and the extra info I needed to get my disposal unit installed... I can do these all day now :)
TD Tony...Thank you very much for this video. Tackled the replacement of the disposal today...because of your video...the new disposal went in without a hitch.
Keep up the good work! Thanks again!
I just wanted to thank you. Your tutorial is great. My husband was able to follow your instructions and replace our garbage disposal!
This was a GREAT instructional video. I followed it, and my disposal went into place just like the video showed!!! I would have never known how the bracket and power cord systems assembled without this video! Thanks!
Thanks, man! I got through my first disposal replacement with your help. Knocking out that dishwasher drain plug is a pain in the ass, but we got it done!
Thanks so much for this excellent video! I went through the process step by step while watching, and now I have a working disposal. You made it easy!
Great video! My husband and I followed the instructions (taking note to punch out the plug!) and it was super easy! It took us less than 35 minutes to get the old disposal out and the new disposal in! Yay!
Tool Dude, this is a great video - no excess, fast motion on the obvious stuff, direct and to the point. Now I will see if I can follow your instructions.
Thanks Tool Dude Tony for this video. I followed your video instructions rather than what came with the disposal and I did it all by myself and i didn't even know i was handy. Great instructions. thank you!!!!!
Thank you! I was able to replace it myself. Your direction were easy to follow.
Excellent!! The best explanation in how to replace a garbage disposal. You are t he best.
great video, just remember people when doing this you have to remove the dishwasher plug from the new disposal before attaching it.
I just changed our disposal right now!!!! Thank you! You saved us over $400!!!! ♥
Yep, I did it myself! Thanks Tool Dude, you just saved me $150 and it only took about a half an hour to do and I 'm not that handy either. Great easy to follow video.
Thank you. Worked great. New disposal installed in less than an hour and running great.
Great video! I've got NO experience in doing anything like this and was able to knock it out fairly easy and pretty quick. Hardest part was the damn wires bein so stubborn. Thanks for the video!
Awesome Bro, follwing this it only took me 15 mins to get the job done, and most of that was because my pipes were stuck. This rocked! +21
You are the man! I am not handy at all, but I just replaced my garbage disposal with your help!
Great vid man, just replaced my old unit with an Evergrind too. It's always cool to diy!
Nice Job Tool Dude Tony! I followed your instructions to the letter, and it all worked out. Good thing I caught the mistake I made - I missed the dishwasher punch out, so It took me an extra 15 minutes to disassemble and reassemble. But overall - easy as pie, and took me 45 minutes total and I saved myself $380 if a professional were to come in and doe the same job.
thank you! you saved us a ton of cash! You are AWESOME!
Tony, awesome instructions. I follow your steps and I save a lot of money. Thank you for this vey clear and step by step video. Two thumbs up. Thank you very much!!!
Thanks for the video, I'll be attempting this tomorrow since my old one crapped out. This will help tremendously.
You are awesome! I did it! Can't thank you enough for taking the time to help a gal!
Great video tool dude, completed the job without a hitch and saved Big bucks..would recommend you with a ten out of ten..Thanks
Thank you Tony. Your video really helped. I just prayed that God would bless you.
Your instructions were great and your presentation was funny. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'm going to subscribe to your channel. My installation went smoothly, except I had a small leak at the junction of the outlet pipe. Repositioned the rubber gasket and tightened the flange and that solved it.
I followed your instructions today and had not problem with the install. Good work.
Great video. I changed it and it worked great. Ran the dishwasher that night as usual and it leaked everywhere. Awesome to wake up to. Figured it out on my own. Never saw the little pop up from the bottom until after I fixed it and went back to re-watch the video to see if I missed something. Hoping my wood isn't ruined and I don't have to call my insurance company. Might want to make the point of taking out the plug a bit more noticeable.
The video is sharp and explained clearly.
Well done.
Thank you for this video!! I replaced my disposal with your help! Awesome :)
Great video! Straight forward and easy to follow. Good camera work too!
Thanks for the video. It was the first time I tried this and it made it very doable.
The only problem I ran into was that the original contractor ran the electrical straight from the wall to the disposal without using a plug hookup. It just made it so I had to hookup the electrical after I had already mounted the disposal which was a pain.
Awesome video. Thanks for fast forwarding to the important parts.
Thanks Tony! I still don't see where you put the text to remove the plug but no big deal I'm keeping mine in. Subscribed for sure man. Can't wait to look through your videos. Keep going and shredding that air guitar brother!
You make it look easy! :-) The hardest part is getting a 3/4HP up on the mount. I should have watched the Vid before I went to the store. Forgot the install kit!
clear precise instructions--even a grandmother can follow. Terrific
Just replaced my disposal based on this video. Awesome, very helpful.
Best video by far on this topic.
Thanks for the easy to follow instructions!
So helpful! Saved money and I feel good about myself too!
Thanks Tony...Great Video, but, Just like Edwin said, don't forget to knock the plug out of the dishwasher outlet!! I forgot, being in a hurry, and had a mess on the counter! You don't have to take it all apart to knock it out if you forget. You can do it with a screwdriver and light tap, but you'll have to retrieve the little piece of plastic (knock out) with your hand or pair of pliers. BE SURE TO HAVE POWER TURNED OFF IF YOU DO THIS!! Hope this helps.
Good video. I am going to replace my busted one today. Because of this dishwasher knock-out plug concern, I will look at another video to see exactly what the knock-out plug is.
I successfully installed a new disposal today. Thanks you and youtube
Worked like a charm. Thanks!!!
Great help, I just subscribed THANKS!
I love your attitude, it gives me good vibes. I subbed.
Perfect. Thanks!
As others have noted -- if you have a dishwasher connection, MAKE SURE that you punch out the plug, otherwise you will have water everywhere inside your cabinet.
Thanks for the tips on making it easy.
Nice video, Thx ! Will be doing this for the first time this week.
Good point about the which way the plastic drain gasket goes in (tapered side in). For my wife's sake, please use the correct nomenclature for a phillipshead screwdriver. It's called a pointy head screw driver.
Great video but it would be nice to see how to replace the old drain connection too, instead of using the old one.
Thanks.. I added an annotation to do that. I appreciate the help. :)
Great Video I will be changing one out next weekend
Thanks so much! This video was most helpful! :)
Hey, thanks for this! I was NOT looking forward to this task, thinking I had to change out the sink ring attachment. But I was able to remove it by just unscrewing the locking ring, and it came out (somewhat easily). Took an hour or less from start to testing.
Great Vid!!!! Now I can try myself. Thanks!!
Love you videos man keep them up i might not have to fix that much now but i am still learning great job :)
Helped a lot. I had to buy a kit with a connecting pipe as the old connection was threaded.
Thanks for the vid. I changed my disposal in about 30 mins. Where there's a will (and CZcams), there's a way!!
Helped a lot. Thank you.
I watched your video; then followed your instructions to the letter. The install went fairly smoothly. The only hitch I encountered was that the power cord was hard-wired into the wall behind the sink cabinet. So the first thing I had to do was turn off the garbage disposal and dishwasher switches in the breaker box. I also shut off the water valves underneath the sink before getting started. Next, I had to wrestle to get the old garbage disposal out while it was still tethered to the power cord. I then had to attached the new unit to the cord while still underneath the sink itself. That took a little time; but the wiring went just as in your video. Other than that inconvenience the rest of the job sailed along. I remembered to knock out the tab in the dishwasher connect just like you cautioned us to do. Once I put the whole thing back together again, I ran a load of dishes in the dishwasher and also ran water in the sink itself to check for leaks. When I turned on the new garbage disposal to test it (after turning the breaker switches back on) the new unit fired up and ran with a quite hum. It was sweet music to my ears! Thanks again for making this great how-to video!
Quality video, thanks so much.
Seems to me knocking out a plug would be common sense, if not obvious... Thanks for the video Tony, got a disposal to replace this weekend.
Thanks for this video -awesome!
thanks 4 your help!!! great vid.
Thanks tool dude, enjoying not having leaks
This was exactly what I needed to see to replace my disposal. I also made the same mistake and forgot to punch out the plug for the dishwasher drain tube.
Thank you! Well done
Well, that was easy! Thanks! Now to backflush my tankless water heater...
Great info.
Where did you get the garbage disposal installation kit from?
Thanks a lot for the video
Looks like others mentioned the DW pop out. I also don't think your plumbing is up to code for my city. I have an elbow going to the drain.
Really hate the word "SH#T" in the name of your series, but love the video. Thanks much.
Thx for the help.
just lost my disposal so am about to have to do this, looks good
Okay, I just installed a Waste King. Brand new. But it leaked on the bottom down by the electrical wires. Is it likely a faulty one or maybe a pipe not in correct? I'm not an installer myself, my neighbor helped me. It just seems strange to me that there is no pipe inside the disposal that the outer pipe attaches directly to. The leak was only coming directly out the plastic black piece at the bottom. Not at the top at all.
Great video
Thanks Tony!!
Thank you so much!! I think I can do this! Off to Home Depot....
Great vid, thanks. I think I would have put the old clamp on the new cable before fishing the cable into the new unit.
Thank you Tony you the man
Well instructed video. How much was the unit you used? It's the exact one that I need myself.
