Shaft in the center of gravity vs shaft off set from the center of gravity. I guess we should all be using a 1” steel bar to putt if we go by this metric.
One thing I've learned over my numerous years in golf is that if a red bow on yer left shoe made you golf better , then EVERY golfer would have a red bow on their left shoe
This is a lab golf advertisement, there are usually 3 different putter balance specs for a standard putter, he just made an add for a putter with a no counter balance spec 😅
Check out the Graves Lock N' Roll putter. It is close in design but has adjustable shaft and comes with 2 different shaft links. The prices are about the same.
For everyone saying it's just face balanced, that's not true. I've used face balanced my whole life and just switched to a lab. The difference is astounding.
The generic putter is if you have an arc to your putt so it’s abit more forgiving with the weight mostly in the toe of the head and the other is if you have a straight strike to it so it doesn’t flop around.
Face balance is about where the shaft intersects with the face, not the shape of the head. Center shaft vs heel shaft, farther from the center = more toe-hang. I like a face balanced blade because I have a fairly straight putting stroke, but most mallet heads feel too heavy, causing me to lose distance control
Where is it balanced to? Face balanced means it balances when you point it at the sky. Try it. Grab your face balanced putter and hold the shaft on your finger and it will stay square when pointed to the sky. Now tell me when do you putt with the putter pointing at the sky? Once you put it at address it wants to pull open because it is no longer aiming where it is balanced. This doesn't mean you can't putt with it, it just means you are compensating during the stroke for it trying to pull open.
Face-balanced putters are designed for people with a more straight putting stroke, while toe-hang putters are suitable for those who slightly open the putter back as it aids in squaring the putter. The toe hang of blade putters can be altered by adding led tape and weights, and the position of the shaft in the middle does have a slight impact on the amount of toe hang same with putters that have the shaft closer to the heel.
@@stevenarmstrong5364 just about every mallet putter that has the shaft on the heel is faced ballanced thats juts how most putters are made most blade putters that have the putter on the heel have toe hang
Also, my whole point of the comment was that they were using their mallet putter versus a blade putter. A better comparison would be a mallet versus a mallet.
You do know generic putters come with different balances too, just balancing it on your finger can show a row hang v square aligned within the same models
That “generic putter” swinging open IS THE POINT. it’s meant to correct putting strokes with excessive rolling of the face. A face balanced putter is great if your putting stroke is dead straight back and straight through which not many people have
It's extremely stable and has insane forgiveness on slight miss-hits, since I changed to the Link 1 I don't think I've said "pushed it" on a single putt.
This is funny...when I put with a basic putter that you would probably see at a mini golf course never had this wobble effect 😉 but thank goodness you added weight to the back
No matter what putter you use, the face is going to do whatever your hands cause it to do when you stroke the ball. You aren't going to use that contraption on the golf course, so this demonstration means absolutely nothing. Just find a putter that feels good and you can line up consistently and learn how to use it.
So the generic was always going to flop around because its a heel mounted bent shaft. The £500 LAB putter is mounted in the middle with a straight shaft. At least conduct a fair example.
Lab is a gimmick. Putters are weighted and shaft positioned for your swing path. Lab putter literally is only good for people with a perfect straight back straight forward swing path. Very rare.
You missed the most important part of the demonstration. Instead of squaring the face before making the stroke do the opposite. Spin the face and then make the stroke. Or make the face facing the opposite direction of the target and make your stroke and watch how the face will move and settle on line with the target. That is the selling point.
… ya but when you hold a putter , it’s not actually hanging on a hook off your hands , you’re holding it as one piece , so you can still twist the putter slightly with your hands and arms and everything , it won’t stop that completely , that’s just an exaggerated way of looking at it
This isn't crazy. Everyone's putting stroke is different. I've tried putters like this and I hate it. I have to alter my stroke too much to compensate. I grew up on a toe balance, so my stroke is conditioned for that. Putting isn't about what's in your hands as much as between your ears.
The putter is designed like that don’t be fooled people. If you’re using a blade it’s supposed to tow hang to account for an arching swing. If you’re swinging straight back and straight through then a mallet is more your style
Hahaha.. yea because thatll help is feel better. In fact this will ruin your feel. Another marketing bs. I dont remeber any of other sport equipments having perfect balance. Tennis racquets, baseball bats, cricket bats, etc. The player feels the balance and adjusts. Not the other way round.. haha so dumb.
This is not anything new. Face balanced putters have been around for several decades. They do work for some folks, hence why they’ve been around for decades and currently offered by most major OEM’s. Companies like this attempting to show they’ve created something innovative and original is really embarrassing.
lol. So you use some mini golf trash putter for your “generic club” and then your lab? They are some of the ugliest clubs ever made, and *WAY* too over priced.
this is why I grip my putter with my hands when I putt
oh, i see.... no wonder.....
Exactly 😂 This tool is pointless
Imagine how many putts you'd make if you never pulled it or pushed it because your hands / wrists weren't active during the swing.
When you losin up on your back swing the better putter will stay square
@@naspirit1551 not the reason I miss 🤷
What i saw was offset shaft vs center mounted shaft
And blade vs mallet
The point of contact is on the heel, but the axis of rotation goes through the center of the head.
I’ve switched from a generic putter to a metal pole I found in my backyard and my putting’s never been better.
😂😂😂😂😂
This is toe balance vs. face balance. Neither one is necessarily better and it depends on the player.
The first putter is toe heavy, and the second one is not. That's the difference. 2 different types of putters for different feel
Looks like the shaft is twice as thick so when it's locked in it can't move compared to the other putter which is loose
This is literally a 1AM infomercial that influencers blindly believe
Loved this putter when I tried it, freaky looking but couldn’t deny it felt great, it has a built in forward lean which I really liked as well
My 30 year old putter hits it just as good as a 600 dollar lab putter. I'm good
I tried one of these a week ago. It felt horrible in my hands when I swung it. Besides looking like a mental detector
Shaft in the center of gravity vs shaft off set from the center of gravity. I guess we should all be using a 1” steel bar to putt if we go by this metric.
This is just because the lab putter is face balanced which means the toe does not swing as much
One thing I've learned over my numerous years in golf is that if a red bow on yer left shoe made you golf better , then EVERY golfer would have a red bow on their left shoe
Thank u. Whatever works, works. And 3-500$ putters don’t fix a golf game
This is a lab golf advertisement, there are usually 3 different putter balance specs for a standard putter, he just made an add for a putter with a no counter balance spec 😅
Good for a straight back straight through putting stroke. Bad for a slight arc or strong arc stroke.
Note its centre shaft putter.
I got the Link1 a month or so ago still getting used to distance control with it as apposed to my previous Scotty but I am holing more putts!
They also have a blade and mallet version in addition to this one. Amazing putter
This is very similar to what heavy putter did 20 years ago
A brick stays square too... Do you get extra points for style these days?
Toe hang vs face balanced... There are many many versions of both.. non story, no offence 😂
Personally as I have a slight arc putting stroke I prefer a toe weighted putter. Ive tried a face balanced spider for a while but its not for me
Have friends that’s got one and he said it’s junk. Trying to resale it after a mont.
The generic putter is if you have an arc to your putt so it’s abit more forgiving with the weight mostly in the toe of the head and the other is if you have a straight strike to it so it doesn’t flop around.
Guy looks like he’s shaking pepper on the generic lol
This seems disingenuous. It's a toe hang putter he compared it to. Not a balanced face. It's supposed to be weighted that way.
I don’t even own a putter, I putt using my wedge anywhere within 100 years.
Blade putters have toe hang so the putter would open up a mallet putter should be faced ballanced
Face balance is about where the shaft intersects with the face, not the shape of the head. Center shaft vs heel shaft, farther from the center = more toe-hang. I believe Andy Sullivan, The Average Golfer has been saying this for eons.

Yes, but does it make you drive further?

As soon as they make one that isn't fugly i might try it.
I wouldn’t classify Sik Putters as generic lol with the putter face technology they use
I have had the mezz 1 for about 2 years now
I seen these tests, but most golfers don’t have a straight path, most have slight arc, would you use this putter?
It's extremely stable and has insane forgiveness on slight miss-hits, since I changed to the Link 1 I don't think I've said "pushed it" on a single putt.
@matthewshepherd826 I know I do own a lab putter and I do find it extremely stable it's just very difficult to look at it it's not appealing at all!
Is the first putter face balanced? Looks it.. 🤔
Wide grip helps it not twist on that contraption to
Let me know when you feel the need to send it out to me to test 🤣🤣
This is funny...when I put with a basic putter that you would probably see at a mini golf course never had this wobble effect 😉 but thank goodness you added weight to the back

Well it a good job that we hold the putter with two hands then as our hand twist so will any putter

Thank goodness we don't use the "revealer" when we putt. #gimmick
This is why i have all 4 lab putters
But has your handicap improved because of them...are you really holing out more putts?
Bro doesent know simple physics
You know what annoys me about this. You’re promoting putters that cost £500+. About time golf started giving back to the amateur

Toe hang lol

Congratulations, you’ve shown the difference between a center shafted putter and one that is standard…. It’s nothing new….

my odyssey versa putts just as good and for half the price

Those putters are just ugly , and chunky , there’s a reason why there’s only a handful being used
And I would still 3 putt everything with that
This device doesn't mean anything when we put our hands on it.
The generic putter is toe balanced no shit it rotates that way when you allow it to this is so stupid it's painful.
Unfortunately you have to putt with your hands on the putter.
Love my mezz 1.
That seems like a gimmick
Cool device but guess what my hands a arms don’t care where the face is it’s not just gonna fix everything.
LAB Golf putters are ugly and overpriced.
The two putters tested clearly have different face balances by design, absolutely stupid test. Did LAB put you up to this per chance?
Nope
That's a double wide blade it's probably face balanced, well who knows I do have one with a little toe hand
You cant just say “perchance”
Ugh, you youtubers are silly. It depends on how you swing.
I'll take the sik all day with a CL-280 shaft!
Study in Kinematics!
450 bucks
Simple question. If it’s so good, how many touring pro golfers use it? ( I haven’t seen one yet).
I’ve seen one or two but if it was so good all the pro’s would be using them 🤔
Adam Scott, Will Zalatoris, Lucas Glover. Most touring pros have 14 club deals.
@@matthewshepherd826 most have individual deals on putters if any at all.. Scotty Cameron putters are easily the most common, not all have deals
@jimlock6152 have you tried a L.A.B putter?
@@matthewshepherd826 no I’m afraid not, I have Scotty’s
This is absolutely garbage. Makes no difference
Personally I’d never be caught dead with that ugly putter. Even if it is a great putter. The design just is not for me
Just another gimmick
Too bad it looks like shit

Scam
Too bad that LAB putter won’t work for anyone who’s put has an arc… and that’s probably for 80% of golfers out there
Shite
yeh but... if you hit off the toe or heal less forgiveness
For a short putt it's great but for longer putts when you have to bring the putter inside it's not so great.
