    Regards the use of language with the current generation, I had a stark reminder a few years back. I was talking to someone in their mid to late teens and I used the word film instead of movie, and they interrupted me abruptly to say, "What?!". They looked at me like I was from outer space!

  • @EgoShredder
    @EgoShredder Před 5 lety +1

    Regards music I always listen to albums from start to finish, and mostly without skipping tracks. That is mostly because the music I listen to, the album tracks have been carefully ordered by the artist to give the right experience and meaning etc. Many tracks roll into the next one seamlessly, so changing the order or skipping would interfere with the meaning etc. However I do sometimes bung things on for nostalgia and to bath in my own eras, which are the 1970s and 80s.

    • @BenwaysWorld
      @BenwaysWorld  Před 5 lety

      Some albums definitely need to be played in order. Bowie's Diamond Dogs has 3 tracks that run into each other, and don't work at all when played separately.

    I was supposed to go on a speed awareness course last year, but my local police force had crap information available so I was very misinformed about how to apply. This caused me to miss the deadline for applying, and so I ended up paying taking the points. The confusion was around supplying ID which gave the impression you needed photo card ID or a licence with a photo etc. A nearby police force had different requirements, and were not fussy about photos on ID. Had I known that I would have got my application submitted in time, before all the places were taken. The cynical side of me thinks the whole thing sets you up to fail, right from the driving out on the roads and up to the judicial process.

    • @EgoShredder

    • @EgoShredder
      @EgoShredder Před 5 lety

      Yeah I pulled out of a junction into a normally hard to join road, to turn and go up it. I then saw a police speed van parked on the opposite side of the road, and so as a precaution I slammed on my brakes and then checked my speed. It was close to 35mph and so I had no idea if I had been done or not. The letter arrived days later......36mph. The local Pakistani community drive daily at motorway speeds on this 30mph road, but the Police rarely go after them and instead concentrate on easy meat, e.g. white English males doing normal speeds.

  • @EgoShredder

    In my opinion all the main brands of soup like Heinz have gone REALLY downhill in quality over the years. They must think we are all too stupid to notice, e.g. they put cheap ingredients in as a replacement for actual quality ones like chunks of meat and vegetables. They pad out the soup with crap like double cream or worse whipped cream, and add more salt and sugar. They chop the meat into tiny pieces and include far less of it. So to my surprise I have found the more expensive Aldi soups to be quite good, like their carrot soup, tomato & basil or chicken & mushroom.

    As for Dead Can Dance: I definitely can also highly recommend Lisa Gerrard's solo music. :) People might recognise some of her music from movie soundtracks, for instance her track The Host of Seraphim was used for The Mist. Of course the music of Dead Can Dance itself is great too.
    I first thought it was Ritchie Blackmore who was also in Dead Can Dance, but misremembered that, as he of course had Blackmore's Night (and apparently Deep Purple). I'm guessing the male vocalist of Dead Can Dance that you meant was Brendan Perry.
