    Hope you're all having an amazing day, everyone!
    First let me talk about the Elephant in the Room "Mekanism" and the missing QIO.
    I am very sorry that I missed it, personally I only use Mekanism for Energy and Resource Production/Automation so even Black Hole Units were kinda a new thing for me.
    So thats why you have here a quick summary on my opinion on "QIO":
    PRO:
    - Massive Space (16 Bil. Items x 8182 Types in the biggest Drive)
    - Straightforward Setup
    - Nice UI
    CON:
    - High-Cost / both RS and AE2 are cheaper than QIO
    - Multi Step Crafting Recipes > both for the QIO and the Drives (Fision Reactor, Polonium, Antimatter, etc.)
    Overall, I would rate QIO as somewhere between low A-tier and high B-tier if it were a standalone mod.
    However, when combined with Black Hole Units, which I find to have no use since we have functional/sophisticated storages, the overall rating for Mekanism averages out to low B-tier.
    Additionally, I overlooked Botania's storage option, "Corporea Networks," and the quick assessment is that it's F-tier.
    It's very convoluted and unintuitive to use, and it's not easily accessible either.
    If I should have missed any other Storage Mods please let me know and I will share my opinion on them.
    Please keep in mind that this video is only about ATM9 Storage Mods since I saw people asking for a Mods which are not in the Modpack.
    Thank you for watching the video and I hope you will be back for the next video in the series!

      The one cool thing about the corporea network is the corporea spark that lets you use chat to request items when nearby, this can in theory be paired with your existing ae2 network... in practice tho it's finicky, and has a limited range, but sometimes it's easier to use chat then to navigate a GUI.
      Personally I use CC:T+ modular routers or pnc to do the same thing, and it request autocrafts and works at infinite range, and is honestly cheaper and easier to setup (once the code is already written)

      Few notes:
      Mekanisum -
      electric chest/barrel (basicly double chest backpack)
      logistics transportor (sorting & accessing)
      robit (electric single chest and other features)
      Tanks
      Ars novu-
      Storage lecture after linking you can unsummon or kill the book worms removing the lag and chest noise has multiple other feature that allow creative block interactions
      Receptical (double chest in a single block)
      Create- item vault (clunky but cheap works great with inv accessing mods)
      PNE- logistic drones and pipes
      Reinfost chest ( shulker box basicly)
      Smart chest (2xshulker box with features)
      Drone ( ngl probably to complicated but has an inv and can do what ever your willing to program it to do)
      Tank (liquid storage with some features)
      Aerial accessor (interacts with you players inv)
      Ocultisum-
      Storage bag that I forgot the name of ( just a big bag)
      Probably some more but I haven't played in a while over all a desent teir list but just remember don't under estimate any thing on 1st glance there are some truly amazing things that can slide right under the radar that could completely change how you look at things and play the game XD

    you missed some key points about the traveller's backpack: it can be worn at the same time as the sophisticated backpack since it has its own dedicated player slot, it can also be placed in world and comes with a deployable sleeping bag, it can be upgraded to include a crafting table, and it comes with tool swapper slots

    • @jaymsfv

    • @Aaron-vd4vi
      @Aaron-vd4vi Před měsícem +31

      @@jaymsfv yes, but you now need 3 items to do what 1 can. in addition 1 of those items has its use case discarded late game, 1 of them requires an anvil and levels and the last while useful still requires an inventory slot as opposed to just existing. the backpack is helpful early and mid game for storage, "weaker" abilities and utility, and the dragon backpack's strength and regen is welcome at any stage of the game. and you can get it for free by doing things you should be doing anyway early on.

    • @erin.anderson
      @erin.anderson Před 29 dny +2

      The sleeping bag and the unique backpack bonuses (the fire resist, no fall damage, etc.) are the only unique things that it adds, but it having its own hidden wearable slot is a mixed blessing. You now have to have a second hotkey for opening it, and you have to remember that you're wearing it, because it does not show up in your inventory, curios, or anywhere else on your character screen. It's not a bad mod by any stretch, but it feels very awkward in practice. I rarely bother with it and focus on upgraded Sophisticated Backpacks.

    I totally agree with almost every ranking in this video but i feel like you massively underrated how powerfull sophisticated storage actually is, you can upgrade a double chest to netherite tier then add the stackupgrades like in the backpacks. If you than add a controller you can stack a bunch of these which you can than connect to a storage bus saving you the hassle off dealing with storage cells all together. Also this seems to be a lot less laggy as it spreads outs the items over multiple blocks

    Traveller's backpack at C tier is kinda crazy. Not only do you get a decent solution for fluids and a crafting table built into the bottom right corner, but like the sophisticated backpacks, you can also put it in the world so you still have easy access to take all the stuff out. I wouldn't say its S tier, but at the very least give it some credit and put it in B tier. If anything, i would move the Ars Nouveau storage and swap it with Traveller's backpack

    IMO IF deserves slightly better than F, the Black Hole Controller unit lets you slot black hole units into the controller, making the equivalent of a 16x16 drawer that can store both items and fluids, making it one of the best *tanks* out there.

      Another thing which seemed to be unclear in my video. I didnt take tanks into consideration this video is purely about item storage.
      If I added Tank Storage into the mix I would have needed to double the Modlist atleast so I tried to focus on the main problem normally have "Item Storage" ^^

    Sophisticated Backpacks has also become one of my true must-have mods these days. The portable carrying capacity really does get truly insane when you start getting to the "inception" upgrade, which lets you load a bunch of other bags into your main bag, and you can set it so that things the bags pick up will automatically go to the nested bags. Plus things like portable crafting tables, furnaces, and all of that... it is a definite must-have, with Sophisticated Storage being a handy companion that uses a lot of the same logic. I should really play around with Refined Storage, though, if I ever get to the point of making systems that need more robust, unified storage. AE2 has been one of my go-to mods for a very long time, but Sophisticated Backpacks and Storage have just... generally taken its slot for accessibility's sake, and the lack of need for power. Still, I'll ALWAYS love the modpacks that are built around an AE2 Spatial Chamber, like the Material Energy series.

  • @anotakuhusky8783
    @anotakuhusky8783 Před měsícem +10

    Personally I find AE2's autocrafting way more versatile and flexible than anything refined storage can offer, making it better than refined storage at least in end-game as setting up auto-crafting for many different mods crafting stations is much easier. Also AE2 things adds a disk in that doesnt restrict item types, though once you are late-mid game you should be able to churn enough disks out for it not to matter.

      Hook one of them up to your system so everything thrown in gets sorted and with a Pouch you can go Dungeon delving and only get inventory problems when your system is full

    This is definitely a very helpful video, as I didn't know of a couple of these. The format of a tier list does make it a bit tough on mods such as enderchests and dimensional storage as they do one thing really well. A possible suggestion is that you can give a 1-5 on three different things for example: Cost, complexity and overal usefulness as an example.Maybe on the end too you can give your favorite for early, mid and end game

    • @Voron_Aggrav
      @Voron_Aggrav Před 2 dny

      Very good idea, Enderchests definitely is a Very great solution to move items large distances and cross dimensions especially for it's price, it's valua isn't in its Storage but in its strength as a way to connect various places with very little overhead and hassle,
      Especially if you combine Pouch connected to a sorting system that empties the chest you'll have no inventory issues what so ever when you go dungeon diving,
      I would recommend applying Filters for things you Might accidentally throw into your Pouch so you don't need to go home, Or get stuck in an awkward mistake,
      On it's own it's not much, still better than the Vanilla option (And older than that), but it absolutely Shines when you have another mod taking stuff out and sorting it

    another really powerful ability of sophisticated backpacks is the experience pump upgrade, which (combined with a tank upgrade) allows you to siphon experience to and from the player, and, most importantly, can automatically repair Mending-enchanted tools and armor. It is _incredibly_ powerful and lets you turn nearly any armor into power armor, as long as you have the experience for it (and XP can get out of hand very quickly)

The lag never became an issue, because I just use a single bookwyrm connected to a storage controller, or Minecolonies warehouse block. For the same reasons, the noise of opening chests is also not an issue. I just enjoy having a storage system so early in the game, since it needs no power and is crafted with a bit of gold, archwood, maybe some lapis, etc.
    But I still carry a backpack, I dunno how my remote storage could be thwarted (outside of leaving the dimension) but I don't want to find out and have no backup system.

    Danks are great, and I think not enough people use them. Filtered pickup lets you set what you want to go into the dank, so all mass-quantity blocks like dirt/cobble etc go in. Only issue is a minor bug where even if you have a slot locked, if you take out all the items, it sometimes doesn't recognize the slot item to pick up again.
    With a dank 7 you essentially have a drawer with like 30 slots and max netherite upgrades. You can even attach an external storage to the dock and treat it like a drawer system, but in one block.

    BTW, for anyone not knowing this.
    You can use Sophisticated backpacks with pickup upgrades for automation!!!!!
    Best example would be a farm via mystical agriculture that drops their seeds into the overworld. When you setup the magnet with a filter you can let it pickup only the stuff you declare and sophisticated backpacks works as an input/output inventory aswell. Since i heard about this i am not building any farms that drop items into the overworld without these backpacks. Truely a S Tier Mod

    Ender Chests with Logistics Pipes is S+ tier. Only downside is it takes 3 inventory slots to use (one for requester, 2 for I/O) but it's obscenely cheap, works cross dimensionally and .. drumroll.... you can integrate it with AE. You'll feel its power when you dump your entire inventory of netherrack into your deposit pouch and watch as it's instantly whisked into your item system. Not even AE can do that. LP also has a really powerful autocrafting system that's not only inexpensive but can integrate any processing with a stable input and output and can also do so recursively. I think at this point I use its autocrafting for things it wasn't designed for more than I use it for actual crafting. You're probably thinking that LP is insanely strong with that alone but it gets even better if you add computers; that's right, you can use this little mod to run ACE on the server running it and- oh, they patched that? Darn.
    Only thing that comes close I can think of is PneumaticCraft's player interface which can change your inventory directly. Only reason I put it a tier below is because it requires you go all the way through PCs irritating progression* and it's also a lot harder and more limited to use.
    (I actually lost a playtester to this, they got extremely frustrated and literally deleted the pack because of how tedious the mod was)

  • @Mr76Pontiac
    @Mr76Pontiac Před 13 dny

    I agree with all of the choices, but, the only one small niggling thing you said towards the end of the video was about how efficient AE2 was compared to RS. RS is much more efficient as it doesn't rely on a "size" for auto crafting. It throws items wherever it needs to go, all at once, no real limitations beyond order of operations to which a processing machine can take items its fed. With AE2 (Even with channels disabled) you still have to take into consideration the SIZE that the auto crafting system can do.
    For instance, with RS, you can have 30 crafts all going at once with whatever machines you need, or, even just internal crafting that takes a while. Taking the largest RS modded storage module, from scratch, I can build with just the required basic items and end up with the final product and all the required connected machines will go do their work through to completion. With AE2, for the one build, you'd need one crafting computer with MASSIVE storage to do the exact same build. You can put additional co-processors on that ONE crafting resource, yes, to allow for multiple items to be crafted at once, but with a base 1 crafting computer, you get only one crafting job done at a time for that entire recipe.
    IMO, just on that, you ranked it correctly for its use to a veteran user who started with the ORIGINAL Applied Energistics way back in .. (what.. 1.6?) but to a new player, without a fundimental understanding of the tunnelling (Can't think of the name of it) and the channels requirement, I would have put it at a mid-B ranking.
    I HATE (I cannot bold that text enough) the channels in AE, but turning them off typically breaks mods. There's one or two things that AE2 does better than RS, but for the metadata counting and channel frustrations, and all that, I would have put AE at a top A class rather than S as a new player experience.

    I really find Danks to be top tier when combined with functional storage. I carry a tier 7 dank set to pick up all, and have another in a dock connected to my functional storage controller with a 16x16 room surrounded by single storage drawers. This way when I go exploring or ming, I just let my dank pick up everything and it goes into my storage room if I already have a drawer marked, if not, I add the item to a drawer when I get back to base. I've plenty of spare drawers, and everything is organized. I think that's the main reason I can't get to like refined or AE2. It just feels so disorganized the way it puts everything into storage randomly.

    I think that when ranking mods for ATM9 specifically which has Apotheosis its important to note that Refined Storage's lack of limit on types CAN cause problems by corrupting chunks when storing a lot of NBT items. For a long pack like ATM9 with many mods that have NBT items this is a consideration when picking ae2 vs refined, although a majority of players will not encounter this issue unless they just raid dungeons all day, or have a gem mob farm and dump it into their system.

    I don't really understand why you (any other people) call AE2s autocrafting "more efficient" or "more powerful".
    In terms of speed, Refined Storages system is supplemented by the mod that adds the higher crafter tiers, up to netherite.
    In terms of power efficiency, Refined Storage obviously beats AE2.
    In terms of automation, the only real advantage I see in AE2s system is that you can funnel crafting results back into the same block that initiated the crafting, but this is only useful in a few edge cases and saves little space. RS crafters can also be locked with a redstone signal, making single recipe processing possible. Also, RSs fluid autocrafting is very handy for IF.
