Love that motor this old outbord it fast wooo wee . Glad you got it fixed up 😎😂
Thanks !
Thanks bud just ordered a 9x10 not know what to expect I think your the only video showing apples to apples
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting. Stay tuned !
Been a while. I fixed up the fisher mariner 15 ft. Spent near $900 on the 25 hp motor and foot alone. She does 21 mph with ( I say is a heavy load. Two big guys and stuff,) Prop is a 9x13 and comes out of the water OK. I don't push it just get it up and going slowly. I fixed it up for retirement. It does great for a small boat. Keep the videos coming. Love them.
Hey. Thanks again for tuning in! 21 sounds good with a load. Let er rip tator chip! They like to run! But it's okay to baby her. Hahaha Thanks again & Stay tuned !
Man that motor sounds good. 🍻👍
Hey. I see you put up a new video. I'll be checking it out. Thanks again !
Nice video. I have a question about my Johnson 70 1989. I did a prop shaft clean and regrease, put it back together, but the splined plastic thrust washer that goes on before the nut is slightly worn on the splines, so if I push it into the prop splines and try turning it, it will spin because there isnt enough grip. Is it ok to use it, or is it important that it does not turn?
Thanks for all you do and share.
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting. Wow, I dont know for sure. It may build up friction and crack or something stupid.? Hahaha. Your guess is as good as mine! Probably best to just get a new one to be on the safe side. Thanks again for tuning in!
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Might have to use one from my spare motor. Thanks for getting back to me!
Great video.. 👍
Thanks for watching !
We have a prop shop up the street that sells new but also refurbishes them. Actually anyone can remove, clean and install a new inside assembly but need the right bonding stuff and do it right or it wont last. About the only way I would do something like that was if there was no replacement prop. Even then I'd probably take up the street and have the pros do it.
Yeah there use to be a guy around here that would pick them up at some repair shops then bring them back a week later. Don't know if hes still around. Usually these old props are pretty beat up and not worth rehubbing. Thanks !
Your a smart guy you knew that 1" would knock down your top end. lol, thumbs up......
Hey. Thanks ! I appreciate you watching and commenting. Follow the Saga!
Nice running motor! Just wait till you see my next acquisition. Traded that Polaris Indy for a "Surprise" or 2. More my speed hint hint.
Cool man ! Cant wait ! Thanks !
Hey I'm trying to comment about the other 25 that would run and you've changed the carburetor back and forth I was wondering if you might think it's the flywhee the magnetism in the flywheel I think that's what I'm having a problem with them mine
Have you done a spark test? When's the last time you did a tune up? New points, new condensers, new coils, new plugs. I've never seen bad magnets in a flywheel but I guess it's possible. Throw some nuts and bolts on it and see if they stick!
Just wondering what size prop and pitch are you using on your C dart with the 40 horse
Hey. No Clue. No numbers on it and never took it off to check the inside for any numbers. Thanks !
THIS OLD OUTBOARD Ok no problem. Thanks anyway
That 25 really halls $&@ with the 9 x 10 prop. One inch really made a difference at least that what “She said”. 😂
More good info!👍

10.3 " 12" pitch 1542 25hp evinrude with carb issues but with timing correction done new plugs and plug wires. 2 people 380 lbs plus battery and 6 gallon gas live well open trim on second knotch. 24.8 mph. New gas tank vent not working and was causing major carburetor flooding. Problem corrected. Tracker topper 15.5 ft. 2221110322 solas propeller. Jumps out of hole nicely .
Nice! Thanks for tuning in!
Before I give you that old Parts motor your been using, my buddy had it rebuilt probably 15 years ago run it for 10 minutes, then he let it sit in that drum full of water for another 10 years. damn shame it could have been a good engine.it runs like a champ when he got it back from the Marina. Maybe it'll help you get a few more engines fix down the road 🤐👍
Hey. Yeah the plan for that thing sure went in a different direction. But I haven't taken off anything that cant be replaced. So well have to see what happens. And Thanks again ! I still havent really even looked at it yet. Been so busy. I'll get to it ! thanks
I have one just like that. I'm still using it great motor
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Yeah great motors! Thanks again & Stay tuned !
Hey man nice video thanks for sharing... looks like a lot of fun!!! Did you clock the speed difference between the 9x9 & 9x10? Or a guess? Just wondering... I’m thinking about swapping my stock 9x9 prop for a 9x10, just wondering if the speed gained will be worth the cost. Thanks man! Subscribed 👍🏼
Hey Thanks. Appreciate you watching and commenting. No, I could feel the difference. Thanks again. Stay tuned !
Ok thanks man, I put a new 15hp Merc 4 stroke on a 14’ jon boat and it feels like it could easily push a much bigger boat. When I ride by myself I’m hitting the rev limiter at WOT so I’m thinking swapping to a 9x10 would be a good idea... just hoping if I ever have someone jump in to go fishing with me it doesn’t affect the motors ability to hop up onto a plane since I’ll be taking some from the torque and replacing it with top end... I’m gonna do some experimenting with different weight loads on the 9x9 before I do anything though. Thanks again man be safe :-)
I put my new 9x10 prop on my 15HP Merc and jumped from 24MPH (9x9), to 27MPH 😊 very happy. Was thinking of trying a 9x11 but I already feel a little iffy running that close to 30MPH. 27 is perfect for me, and I feel like I still have all my torque too for those quick take offs
Thanks for the video
She’s a runner!!!! 👍🏻
Thanks ! Follow the Saga !
Did you make a video of you putting that plywood in the bottom of that boat?
Hey thanks for tuning in. Yes I made several videos of doing the floor. They're all on my channel! Thanks again stay tuned!
Well, a 9 x 9 is like a low gear compared to a higher pitch prop such as your 9 x 10. Smaller pitch is great for getitng out of the hole but your higher pitch prop will appear to give you an additionnal top gear. Of course that additional 1 inch pitch turning at 5000 rpm will get you to cover more distance in any given time frame. But add weight (invite aunt Edna and uncle Donald for a ride) and you will long for your smaller pitch prop. Keep up the good work !
Yep! I love Aunt Edna! Hahaha Thanks again for watching and commenting ! Stay tuned !
Ah the scare factor is fun for a second, but never want to be in peril... lol
Brother, just love em...keep em coming..I'm jealous, you can keep hitting the water since there is no real winter... I'm good for at least through November, then winterize for a few..
Be careful for angry hippos....
Hey. Today we hit a Record High Temp. Last year was really mild too. Global Warming ! Thanks ! Follow the Saga !
I'm sure you know this, but you can get a plate with indents for the clamp screws so she don't go walkin' away on ya!
Hey. No I did not know that. thanks
what size prop should I use on my outboard 25 horse I use it for oystering what pitch is the best for carrying a lot of weight
Hey. From what I understand a low pitch is best for heavy loads. You won't go very fast but its better for the motor. Thanks ! Stay tuned !

Is it possible for me to repair a hub on a older pin type johnson prop
Yes. But its a pain in the butt. Do a search. Plenty of info out there. Thanks ! Stay tuned !
Your better off getting another one on eBay for 50 bucks solas ones are good as well too
@@jimcatx3090 Yeah that's what I normally do.
I just bought a Michigan match propeller from an online retailer. Upon opening the box, I immediately noticed the pressed in rubber hub was not concentric. The hub was actually touching one side of the bore, with a big gap on the other side. I tried to install it just to see what would happen. After I pushed it on as far as I could, I tried to turn it by hand and it was rubbing on one side so much that it would barely move. The rough powdercoat inside the hub actually started to grind material from the outside of the motor housing! I took it off and went through the refund process, which luckily went well. The name on the box says Michigan wheel, but this looks like a Chinese made prop. I just can't see an American manufacturer with this lack of quality control. I just ordered a Johnson OEM prop from a local store for only a little more money. Buyer beware!
Hey. Thanks for watching and the great commenting!
I have a 73 25hp evinrude but can’t find new prop ,
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Here's the part numbers for the prop.

You want the 9x10. Google search this number 763583. Cheaper on ebay!
Thanks again !
With the new 6 hp mercury's i have the problem with the slippin clutch and it starts to slip if you have one leaf in it. F ing annoying. Anyways nice vid😉👍
Thanks again !
I have a 83 25hp Evinrude and a 80 35hp Johnson and a 76 40hp Evinrude tiller putting the 35 on my pontoon I just got.
Cool! Thanks for tuning in!
sweet,
Thanks for watching !
how can u compare anything without a timing device
Timing? I think you mean "clocking" or gps. I've had the boat long enough and plenty of outboards on it to know the difference in speed between a couple of props. Its not rocket science ! Thanks for watching !
Who hooo
Thanks again !
Next !
Thanks for Watching Ivory ! Hahaha Stay tuned !
hold on to your hat away we go

I would like to see the same test with a heavy load. I have a 1977 Johnson on a 15 ft fisher mariner that i have not put in the water yet. I will have 2 battery's, cooler live well, 6 Gallon of fuel, Me 275 other guy 210, tackle cooler on hot days. Well you get the idea. Speed is nice but real world guys out fishing will tell the tell. Looks like a 9x9 for me. Might get away with a 9x10. Maybe. What do you thank.
Hey. Same here. Two real world guys, Hahaha, 250 and 170 and all the rest. And my 15' Dura Craft is not a light boat. The good thing is the 70's 25's were light motors. I can only speak for my boat and motors but I cant remember ever having any real problems with a full load and that was usually with a standard 9 x 10 prop. Sure your going to lose a few mph, but I remember being very happy with the motors performance and the smile on my face. That was back when I was flipping outboards and test running them all, and we were fishing alot, to be honest with you I didnt think to much about prop pitch or really understand it then. If I had an outboard that needed a prop I always used the standard size. Until once I bought a used prop on craigslist, put it on the outboard and down to the lake, and I wasnt going anywhere with that thing, later I learned it was an 8in pitch, cant remember the diameter, 9 or 10. So thats when I did my homework. If I remember I think it was for a sailboat motor, made for heavy load, not speed, less stress on the motor. The 9 x 10 is going to push a load quicker. They are both the same 9in diameter. Smaller diameter, turning less metal, more speed. Smaller pitch, same diameter, slower speed, less stress on the motor. Thanks for watching !
I can tell you what will happen, the 9x9 will push a heavy boat albeit slower, and it will be able to get it out of the hole much better. a 9x10 will possibly cavitate which is what it did on my boat.
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Pitch is the Distance the prop will travel in one revolution, So a 10" prop will make boat move much faster, while a 9" pitch will give it more power, an 8" will be like low gear in a 4x4 truck. Most manufactures have this already figured out. you can pull up the boat weight and and motor specs and find the prop you need.
guy on jet ski was an 1/8 of a mile away gramps
Hahaha. I just love intelligent comments! Thanks again Wes & stay tuned !
Time to break out the Dremel Lol
Hahaha! Thanks again !
I dont see a motor safety tether anywhere on your boats. Its just a matter of time possibly before you lose one trust me just a warning. It happened to me similar boat 1971 Johnson 25HP and another friend too with a 25Hp that he got back too. My motor came up and off as boat was planing motor went straight up about a foot and off in a split second and lost it for three days in saltwater. Luckily three days later there happened to be three kids snorkling with wetsuits close by so I called them over and they found it in five minutes. They spotted the white Johnson cover in 15ft of murky water kid told me visibilty was so bad that if it werent for the white cover it would still be there and that was in the late 1990s. A local marina let me use a boat and motor with a grappling hook for free but no luck for two days.Transom screws loosened up over time and gas and oil that had dripped out of carburetor when motor was tilted on the transom helped the situation thats all it took.Just a suggestion its one of those things you do nothing about until it unfortunately happens to you. I mean even tie a stout rope around the stern bracket for now. That motor sounds good one of the better ones I have heard....... .Glenn P.
Hey. Great Story! I've often thought about it. I may have something I can use ! Thanks !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Theres more to the story but the best part is that I gave them the last $40.00 in my wallet for finding it I was so happy and for tying a rope on it to yank it up.I pickled the motor and was using it again within a few days no damage,LOL!.
@@OutBoardTink62 Hahaha I like "Pickled", never heard that one before .
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 HA !! Pickled meaning a fresh water submersion bath basically, popped the flywheel off cleaned the mag and actually fiiled up the carburetor & block with freshwater too and drained it,LOLL... pretty simple actually mottor ran great after that like it never happened LOL!.......
@@OutBoardTink62 Oh I thought it meant to fill it up will gas/oil mix like I had to do once. Forgot about the salt water....
My prop folk can fix these props. It's not cheap but the repairs are as good as new and a lot less expensive. The heavier the boat the lighter pitch you want. A big fat John boat full of fish needs 9" where a light v bottom might take an 11 on the same outboard.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Yeah I was still learning! Thanks again & Stay tuned !
I put a chain on my motor so it doesn’t become a boat anchor
Hahaha Good thinking !
What prop size do you recommend for my 15hp evinrude I just have a 12 flat bottom jon
I was looking on eBay for a starter fly wheel for my 15 hp they want about 250-300 I was on Facebook market place and a kid was selling a huge tall 1985 9.9 yathtwin eletric start and stator for charging the battery I guess like my bike for 100 bucks i have been getting lucky picking I need more when I work on them

Hahaha ! and no on the tank. Cant fish and move with a frikkin tank up front. Hahaha Thanks again !
9X9 is way to small of prop for a 25hp it will over rev. the motor you need put a trach on it. I would go even bigger then 9X10 that's what Johnson used on the 18hp motors
Hey. They only offer a 9x9, 9x10 and a 91/4x7. I've never seen anything bigger on a pin drive prop. If its out there let me know. Thanks !
I know I have had a 111/4 X 10
@@outboardfun3353 Maybe . If 11 1/4 will clear???
